Looking forward to the next iPhone's ultra-wide lens! Always looking for more context.

For my photography I have absolutely no use for a telephoto.

Siri has lost head to head with the Google Assistant. It would be even worse if it wasn’t for the SDK being opened up. The HomePod is trash, idc if you consider it a generalization or not. It’s expensive and doesn’t add much utility.

The HomePod is a great speaker and HomeKit hub. Surprised anyone would call it trash, unless you haven’t used it?

I rather put more effort in low light innovations. Most of the time I use the 2x zoom on my iPhone iOS doesn't switch over to the zoom camera but instead uses digital zoom on the 1x because it has a wider aperture because the scene is a bit dark.

This is about pushing boundaries. Pushing "tiny" camera quality beyond where it needs to be. Today's mobile cameras are already really good. People don't "need" these fancy features, but in the long run, it will benefit all of us. Right now, software needs to do some work to make photos look better. If the cameras themselves were able to just naturally capture perfect photos, it saves on the post-processing.

I'm impressed with what Oppo has delivered here, include their industrial design language. Feels less dirty than a Samsung phone. :p
[doublepost=1550973515][/doublepost]Looking at the Oppo website, I take back my compliments. Their ColorOS is a total knockoff of iOS. Slimy!

Don't listen to these people. They are only echo-chambers, repeating what they've heard without any real-life experience. We all know the HomePod is a top-quality device, and that the Siri implementation will improve over time. Apple is just being conservative with Siri in the beginning. The hardware is stellar.

I guess sometimes I am just still surprised by the naivety of people on this site.

Everybody's innovating while Apple only knows how to raise the price.

What how loosely the term 'innovation' is being used these days, one could say that Apple is 'innovative' with pricing. :p

Care to back that up with something substantial? What exactly was naive about what you replied to?

I was responding to someone who said that the HomePod was trash. Anyone that has used the product would never say that. It surprises me to see comments like that from someone likely without any hands on experience or understanding of the device. That person has every right not to want/buy that product, but nobody would actually use it and say it’s trash.

Apple Watch, neural engine, AirPods, HomePod, etc all innovative even if you don’t like the products. (The food is innovative is just not the first to market). Whether you like the HomePod or not is based on where you are coming from.

Yes the personal definition of innovation is loose and unevenly applied.

It is worse in comparison to the competition. Google assistant is miles ahead as is alexa.

My life has gotten much less stressful since I ditched all social media (except genuine forum sites, obviously) about six months ago.
I use few forums. I don't take this one seriously at all for obvious reasons. That said, I don't use social media. Never have.

If you read the article you would know the 10x zoom is expected in the next iPhone. It’s just a matter of the technology been ready now and the iPhone updates coming in September. And if you read the article you would also know the Oppo phone is expected in at least a couple of months, so it’s more a matter of 4-5 months than your 8 years .
LOL.

Widely Rumored != True

USB C has been widely rumored for iPhones for several years. Many expectations have come and gone over the years. Until there is direct confirmation from Cupertino, it's all horse-****.

Only if you're not fussy about sound quality and music. Or, if you're fine with google having an open microphone in your home.

Other than that...

How long have you owned yours?

The hardware is pretty incredible, much better than anything Google or Amazon has available. It’s a high end speaker first and foremost. It sounds great and can pick up commands anywhere in my house. I wasn’t comparing Siri vs Alexa or Google Assistant, but Siri actually outperforms both in some areas like smart home execution and commands, but it doesn’t even have the same Siri as on the iPhone so yes definitely lacking in software due to it being less than a year old. The hardware is anything but trash though, that was my point. Amazon and Google can’t compete there.

I believe he is referring to the hardware and audio capabilities. In that case it does blow away what Google and Amazon has. This is why Apple is smart in not pushing it as a smart assistant speaker. It is all about the audio experience. Google and Alexa are tinny little speakers compares to the HomePod.

Well, no the homepod does not sound much better then anything from google, the Google home Max is very close according to the many reviews. Also to be honest none of these smart speakers are close to a high end speaker, they are passable at best. The HomePod is mediocre at being a speaker and terrible at being smart assistant.

No, it in fact does not blow away what Google has.

Zoom is useless in most conditions.
I can see this benefiting more depth and post processing rather than ability to zoom.
Zoom gives you the ability to fill the frame at the original resolution without pixelation.
I don't understand why you think zoom is useless in most conditions.
I usually find the opposite of wanting to be able to zoom in closer without losing resolution.

Apple “innovates” a useless ECG on their iWatch meanwhile true innovation is being done by real computer scientists literally elsewhere. Apple has emoji designers working on all their projects. What a disgrace.

Very close, as you say, but still not as good from a hardware perspective. It’s a high end speaker for a smart speaker, obviously there are better speakers out there. It’s more comparable with Sonos, which some say is better and some say the HomePod is better. It’s definitely a great speaker and there are studies that show it to better than Alexa in a few areas, and better than the Google Assistant in smart home commands. You can keep spouting nonsense if it makes coming to an Apple fan sit better for you, but the HomePod is anything but trash.

To me it's trash, it doesn't excel at anything, like i said its a mediocre speaker and an even worse smart assistant. That's my opinion.
