Rang up Orange yesterday and the man said he would get someone to ring me back in the next 2 days to take my details and send one out to me

....not holding my breath though, just going to get a 3 sim only plan.

Also rang up o2 to see if they would send me one out for an existing contract I have with them and she said they aren't on the system to order yet.....very useful, seems like 3 are the only ones that know what they are doing!

Ah, found it. If you click here: http://www1.orange.co.uk/about/regulatory_affairs.html

And click on the Orange Complaints Code Of Practice..

Follow THEIR processes to get your complaint to the ombudsman who are:

www.cisas.org.uk

You could try asking them first as you have to allow Orange 8 weeks to resolve your complaint first. But it depends how fed up with them you are?

But as I said, I am pretty sure Orange WILL be offering the SIMS, even if they charge for them.

orange have just replied to someones question on twitter about receiving a nano sim and they replied saying he will be able to get one instore

I too ordered an iPhone 5 online having first called Orange to make sure they were ok with it. They said "No problem, we'll send a new sim out to you". I emailed them to confirm that it was a nano-sim I was after and this is what I got back ...

"Thanks for the email.

Apologies for not realising it was a different sim card. I have spoke with my manager who has advised that unfortunately the nano sims are not available to be sent out on their own. You would have to upgrade direct through orange.

If you would like to discuss the offers available I could call you back at a quieter time to speak to the upgrades team.

Kind Regards
Audrey
Business Customer Services"

Surely this is in breach of competition legislation? If needs be, I'll leave Orange and use another provider.

Furious

UPDATE - Got a call back from Audrey today who says the position has changed and that I'll be able to get a sim - but not sure when ... watch this space. I don't really mind if the phone's a brick for a few days; let's hope it's days though and not weeks.

So, it looks like we will eventually be able to get the Nano SIM, it's a question of whether it will be before or after the 21st. If it's much after the 21st I shall seriously consider leaving Orange, especially as other networks like Three have made obtaining a Nano SIM so easy.

As we all know, we won't be able to get 4G from Orange and will have to migrate to the new 'EE' brand to get 4G. I'm worried that they won't have SIM only plans at launch so could be stuck without being able to use 4G for a while. (I currently have an Orange iPhone SIM only contract and wish to switch to an 'EE' SIM only contract if this is launched so I can access 4G services.) Has anyone tried getting an answer about what the situation with this is? I have tried and failed to get information.

My nearest T-Mobile store from work is actually the one at their head office but they didn't have a clue about nano sims. Annoyingly I am off work on the 21st otherwise if I couldn't get a sim on the 21st I would make a complaint in person.

The call centre said they will have loads of stock of SIMS on 21st, I kept pressing them to say they will definitely have enough stock and they said yes. Hopefully they will realise how stupid they are being and copy all the other networks in offering them ahead of time.

I spoke with a manager of a orange store and his response was "I think so" when I asked if I could get a nano sim in store when I get my iPhone 5 on Friday, as an ex-employee I would take that as a defant no!

Did they mention any timescale in this twitter reply?

I rang CS earlier to find out if i can get a nano sim sent out to me and i was told they will send one out but i will most likely arrive on about the 24th Sep.

This was after seeing this post on orange's twitter - http://cl.ly/image/3K152c1X250J

The guy seemed like he knew what he was talking about and that it was a nano sim and for the iphone5, he said when i receive it i should just call CS and they will port my current number/sim-only onto the nano sim!

I'm hoping this is correct and is this simple for everyone else!

Orange honestly do have some right idiots working for them. Some woman answers my call about the nano sim...she asks whether it's a normal sim or a micro sim I need- wrong right away. She then asks which phoned I've bought and from where... Despite me telling her when she answered the phone. She then goes away to speak to the iPhone team... Comes back and says to me that as Orange haven't launched the iPhone 5 yet they have no details at all. I said I know that I'm just enquiring when I can get a sim card. She told me to contact Apple and explain that my service provider can't provide me with one so they can help. Not sure she understands the point of having a contract with Orange. I then go... Well I'll be able to get one on the 21st right... And she goes " I wouldn't commit to that...we are only launching the phone that day". Does she think the iPhone 5 doesn't need a sim card or something?

So yeah, call made, and really none the wiser. The CS team at Orange are really horrendous.

I was told to call back on Wednesday.

Just amazes me the lack of knowledge these people who work for Customer Services have. Gonna be so frustrating if we can't get a Nano Sim for launch day.

Chill, yes the phone is out in 5 days but relax. Only Three have nano sims available according to this thread so it doesn't mean they are the best network. I would be extremely surprised if it comes to Friday and the sims are not readily available.

I could barely sleep last night, let alone getting through till Friday but the world is not as iPhone 5 crazy as we are. In reality people need not get carried away, you will give yourself a heart attack by Thursday, how ironic would that be!

Having had no luck phoning Orange CS (1st call waited 10 mins then told to "call back this afternoon" 2nd call waited 15 mins then put on hold then cutoff) I phoned 3 to ask for a nano SIM which (after some time on hold) I was promised "within 5 working days". ALternatively I was offered the option of going to a 3 shop were a Nano SIM could be given free and activated "within 24 hours".

As I have a contract with both 3 and Orange I think it may be time to review the Orange one!

If Three comes up with the goods then I will consider paying to end the Orange contract as their customer support service is really terrible now.

There is no excuse for Orange not to have the new SIMs available before the launch of the iphone 5. After all, what use is a mobile phone without a SIM?

I ordered my 3 nano sim card on Friday and got it in the post yesterday, I'm sure you'd get it tues/wed if you ordered one today

Ditched orange cos they were useless and more expensive and not unlimited data

Someone posted this on another forum. And I also reposted it in the UK iPhone thread.

According to http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/iphone/ UK Apple stores stock SIM cards, primarily to sign up customers to UK mobile networks. I phoned two Apple stores near me to find out more. It turns out that they do SIM swaps quite regularly, usually without charge. However, they can't give out any nano-SIMs until Friday.

It reflects very well on Apple and very badly on Orange that Apple has to carry out Orange's customer service for them. This is a complete shambles by Orange.

So apple could swap our micro sims into a nano sim without the hassle of Orange?

Got to say, disappoined with Orange. Overall message from Customer Services is grim, grimmer than the orange twitter accounts.

I think they have put all their effort into promoting the hell out of EE, a network that hasn't even been launched yet and they are forgetting about all the little stuff.

I said to the orange helpers account on twitter that every other operator including 3 who everyone belittles is offering the sims now and yet not a word from Orange. Heck, ring CS and they dont have a clue what your talking about.

One networks always messes up every year, last year it was O2 who I was with.. They started to withdraw early upgrade offers when iPhone 4s was announced. I wasn't happy about that and left... Now a year later Orange cant even provide us with a bloody sim card.

Highly doubt we'll get any joy out of Orange by Friday.

I hope so. I don't like the rumours of having to wait a month before Orange are gonna give existing customers nano-sims.

I did post this info earlier. Apple Retail Stores will have all of the main providers Nano sims in stock as with previous Iphone 4 launch.

Cool, will try that then next weekend if orange don't provide it. I'm away Saturday though so may have to wait til Sunday.

How very ironic under the current circumstances!

I was told by an Apple employee yesterday in the Lakeside store that I could pop in on launch day and they would give me a nano-sim for my Orange contract if they have some spare.

Orange UK also told me on their webchat that they will have some in stock for existing customers by launch day and that I needed to phone them up on the 21st to order one.
