I'm on to Apple Chat for the 2nd time today trying to find out WTF is going on
not really sure what you hope to achieve by that...
we already know the apple chat reps are not consistent with responses... you'll just end up being more confused/frustrated...
Do we know what the tracking details are for UK shipments are yet? (like the US Folks getting UPS tracking)

Not consistent but there are gems who might know - or let slip - some more information than we currently have.
Let's hope he's not made redundant when the NHS is privatised 2 weeks after the general election!

In much the same way as a gang of monkeys on typewriters might eventually write Shakespeare, you may find that enough Apple reps, answering enough incessant and identical order questions, may eventually come out with something that appears to be the truth.
It won't be, of course, but it'll have us almost believing.
Could vary - I got two iPhone 6 shipped to me last year to the same house. One came with TNT at 9:30 am (my partners) whilst I had to wait until 4pm for DPD to bother showing up.

they could tell us what we want to hear... but that will come back to bite them... they don't really know more than we do..
i'd actually say we know more than they do at this stage with all the sleuthing over tracking UPS flights etc...

Said can't give me any other information other than it'll be delivered on or before 8th May.
Really miffed as got order confirmation at 8:02 for a 42mm Blue Sports watch and finding it unbelievable that no stock has been allocated despite ordering within a minute. Oh well.
