How the hell can Caviar afford to put parts of an Apple I on this for only $9,900? If an Apple I goes for $400,000, divided by 9 phones total is is over $40,000.
For just 9 phones, and going by their turtleneck phones that had no more than perhaps a 1/4” square of fabric for each one, is could very well be some 7400 series IC that burned out and had to be replaced (they’re in sockets, and only cost a few dollars back in the day, probably a few cents now), that’s been sawn into tiny pieces. People assume it’s that green rectangle at the bottom, but, one, that doesn’t look too close to the original design, and, two, it looks
exactly the same between the two phones why show. Did they cost the same square out of two different Apple I circuit boards? I’m gonna guess that’s a modern recreation (an homage to the original, if you want to be really generous), and there’s a tiny fragment of an actual chip behind it. It would be “part of an Apple I”, just like it says in the advertising, and the idiots who bought this wouldn’t know what it really was anyway.
