Original Apple I Piece Used in Caviar's $10,000 Limited-Edition iPhone 12 Pro [Update: Disputed]

This is specifically designed for people with way too much money and no brains, so they can say, “look what I have!”, and everyone around them can either smile nicely (if they’re paid to), or roll their eyes and walk away. It looks like crap. And cutting up an Apple I to do this borders on cultural vandalism.

Wow -- lots of negativity here. Sure these are extravagant -- but they are kinda cute. If this was simply a TPU case that went on the back of an iPhone and cost $20 it would be a fun gag Christmas gift for an Apple enthusiast.

What I do NOT understand is that the article says that they have an iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max variant with "options available for storage". Try to imagine for a minute the person who would say "I definitely want one, but I am going to go with the $9990 base model so I don't waste money on extra storage that I am probably not going to use". C'mon, every one of these should have the maximum 512GB of storage at that price point.

For just 9 phones, and going by their turtleneck phones that had no more than perhaps a 1/4” square of fabric for each one, is could very well be some 7400 series IC that burned out and had to be replaced (they’re in sockets, and only cost a few dollars back in the day, probably a few cents now), that’s been sawn into tiny pieces. People assume it’s that green rectangle at the bottom, but, one, that doesn’t look too close to the original design, and, two, it looks exactly the same between the two phones why show. Did they cost the same square out of two different Apple I circuit boards? I’m gonna guess that’s a modern recreation (an homage to the original, if you want to be really generous), and there’s a tiny fragment of an actual chip behind it. It would be “part of an Apple I”, just like it says in the advertising, and the idiots who bought this wouldn’t know what it really was anyway.
