How the hell can Caviar afford to put parts of an Apple I on this for only $9,900? If an Apple I goes for $400,000, divided by 9 phones total is is over $40,000.
My guess is they got a MB fragment and used it to make the phones. There were apparently some unsolf unpolpulated Mbs that employees could take home; so maybe someone sold one of those?

Only 63 Apple I computers have been confirmed to still exist, and they have been known to fetch around $400,000 at auction. One of these has been cut up into pieces to make the Caviar Apple I iPhone 12 Pro.
They should have bought a non-functional board instead of cutting up literal computer history

Hideous.
Don't **** humankind, donate this money to the fight against Covid.
Anyone who buys something like this must have fun loathing humanity.

I have respect for people like Bill Gates. They donate a lot of money to fight diseases.

This is a magnificent example of "just because you can, doesn't mean you should". How about MacRumors give these dopes a little less space on the front page...?

Caviar is finishing right now a new revolutionary product to be featured tomorrow on MR. An exclusive iPhone 12, only 2 to be made, featuring a “sapphire” capsule filled with Jony Ive pubes and aluminum shavings. ALpubIVE will be written in the back using butterfly key caps.

A little too much going on and obviously over priced as usual with Caviar, but had they done things a bit cleaner like remove the monitor and word computer it might actually be cool as a D Brand skin or case maybe?

Of course it's clickbait. It's clickbait for Caviar, and it's clickbait for MR. But essentially everything is clickbait; any attempt to gain attention that one disapproves of is clickbait. If newspapers didn't need to draw attention to a story they wouldn't waste space with headlines. They'd just pack the page with small text with, perhaps, a bold-face Subject in the same type size.

If you have something to sell, you need to tell the world that you have something to sell. If you earn your living as a platform for advertising you need to bring people to your platform rather than/in addition to someone else's platform.

We're at post #77 in this thread and counting. Clearly, regardless of how one may feel about this product, this particular topic is something that draws interest. I see this in every thread about Caviar products - their business model gets tongues wagging/fingers tapping on keyboards, and that's good both for Caviar and for any site that cares to report on Apple-related matters.

When it comes to humanity behaving badly to gain attention, this is far from the most egregious example.

Oh the lifestyle of the rich and entitled where they'll buy any old tat as long as it's got the right logo on it... hmmm...

As dumb as I think this is on the whole, I do like how the camera lenses are covered instead of having the full square open. Would prefer the case to be flush to them, but I like how it looks.

A rare historical artifact destroyed to make a luxury product that'll be obsolete in a few years?
What's more important, archiving history or flexing your zillions of dollars?

When they start selling parts of a Mac 128 cpu case with the signatures I have a working model to sell. :p

This really hurts my heart. I would rather there be a non-functioning Apple I still in existence than these phones.

The custom casing features a back panel made of wood that resembles that used on the Apple I, [SNIP] Apple lettering in the style of the original [SNIP]
If I recall correctly, the Apple I did not come in a case (nor with a keyboard). The wooden case with the burned-in "Apple" was just one that a purchaser made himself (and was included with an Apple I sold at auction within the past few years).

Why complain about things, you would never buy?

Are you calling people foolish, because they buy some expensive plastic pieces that are sewn together to become a handbag with "Gucci" printed on it?

There is an audience who likes it. They do have the right to do that. Do not tell them, what they have to like instead, just because you like it...
