idvd 4.6 is available today, i downloaded it earlier and everything works fine.DVD Player is still 4.5 in 10.4.1... And 4.6 still hasn't shown up in Software Update.

Yes, and the second post in this thread says so.patseguin said:Is the build number 8B15?
DVD Player 4.6 is available from the Apple Downloads page, and it says that it's recommended for everyone on 10.4 Tiger. It doesn't seem to show up in Software Update, though. I just noticed it myself and downloaded it, but haven't installed yet.mkrishnan said:Is it iDVD or DVD Player that got the upgrade to 4.6? I thought it was DVD Player (which I still don't see on my list). iDVD not showing up, I could understand, since I didn't install it off the iLife 05 disc (just iPhoto and iTunes)!![]()

mileslong said:now to a new bug, this is in regards to transparent dock. the latest version 2.3.1 works in 10.4 but not in 10.4.1. they are working on this though so keep an eye out for the update if you guys use this application.
If you use Tiger, you have CoreImage. Your iBook's graphics card does not support CoreImage, so your CPU has to handle CoreImage processing instead. Certain things are disabled (dashboard ripple) since the CPU won't be as fast as a GPU with CI support and your computer will be slowed by the extra CPU processing. But image processing is most likely still done by CoreImage and processed by the CPU, so the iPhoto problem could be a CoreImage bug.sparkleytone said:Its definitely a Tiger bug, but my iBook doesn't have CoreImage and it sure does happen. Also, 10.4.1 screwed my DiskUtil hard and I couldn't mount images. Had to boot to DVD and repair permissions. Even Single-user mode didn't work for repairing. Tiger has some great stuff, but Apple is being REALLY sloppy right now. Its disheartening to say the least.
rfoap said:My 12" PowerBook said 19.4MB as well, while my PowerMac said 37.7MB. I'm user this is due to what you have installed, and what you don't. If nothing else, here's your confirmation that it's fine...unless mine's messed up too, but I doubt it.
yinyang said:think i'll wait then for the updated transparent dock before upgrading to 10.4.1 since i've just got it and am so loving it
anyway my 10.4 seems fine, so the need isn't there, luckily!!

-Resolution independent users is working now
-dock shrinks now after a menu is brought up, but makes a weird jump
-spotlight is still kinda slow
-address book widget is broken?
-"I Get Movies" and "Bittorrent" are still broken.
alexf said:I still have yet to be convinced that Tiger is worth the upgrade, especially after hearing all of the horror stories of crashing applications. I think at least I'll wait until 10.4.3, if I upgrade at all.
I am very satisfied with 10.3.9 at the moment. Being in its 10th incarnation (versus Tiger's 2nd) means that the OS has essentially been perfected. Why would I give that up to get a buggy young OS with more flashy features?
And by the way: what is this widgets obsession anyway? Apple is acting like this is the greatest new feature of Tiger. If that's true, then thanks, but I think I'll keep my reliable Panther and my $129.

Updating now. See you on the other side.![]()
