Stickies

Is it just me, or over the years have I seen alot of updates to the stickies
application ?

I love my stickies as much as the next person, but I have to wonder...
maybe it's the app they let the interns work on :D

In another thread, I wrote:
Urgh. Absolutely no mention on that page of any USB fixes (USB kernel panics forced me to ditch Tiger in favor of Panther again 6 weeks ago - Panther continues to be solid as a rock). Even so, I suppose I'll reboot to my Tiger disk when I get home and install the update. If my USB driver still shows the same March 26 date on the file, I'm not sure if I'll even bother to keep running Tiger as the inevitable panic would surely come. :(

Well, I decided to download the update to my PowerBook at work, running off my iPod (I have Tiger installed there for easy demo purposes, and just because I can... :D). Ran the updater, rebooted, and checked the date on the USB driver for my home machine:
Code:
240 -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 120952 Mar 26 14:22 AppleUSBOHCI

Still freaking March 26!

I guess bug reports from people with older hardware have very low priority or something? It can't be that difficult, as Panther works flawlessly. Just figure out what change may have caused a panic situation, right? I even downloaded the Darwin source for both Panther and Tiger to compare the USB drivers... unfortunately I don't have any experience writing OS X drivers, so nothing popped out at me in the diff. Ugh.

Even though 99.9999% of my hope has been officially stomped out, maybe I'll be stupid and still run the update at home to see the 10.4.2 kernel panic (as I expect to happen) for myself. Maybe that 0.00001% of remaining hope is that the problem was really elsewhere in the kernel and only happened to manifest in the USB driver. Yeah, right!

Frustrating.

Why would Apple put two functions so close to one another?

edit: Nevermind, the Dock drawer is such a frivolous design, they should scrap it all together.

I wish the Dock drawer expanded when dual monitor displays are being used.

I've had other people say that too, and I'm not sure what the issue is. I've recreated it across 5 different Macs running Flash and all crash upon app launch.

iphoto bug not being squashed is what's really pissing me off though.

Maybe you should try downloading a different disk image of Flash 2004 :p

I have Studio 2004 with Flash and it works fine.

Apple would never let its OS X dock appear as the Widget dock does, with pages and all. If the Dashboard were to maintain a dock in future revisions, I would like to see live resizing, so all my widgets are on one 'page'.

FMX 2004 runs fine for me - always has.

Same here. But I've never had the iPhoto bug either.

I have a different iPhoto bug - mine just beachballs if you leave it alone for a few minutes. If you keep using it, it works all the time. Stop and use another app, and it beachballs. Redeye sucks too.

I hope they fixed the million and 1 issues to make this system usable!

I don't think it was quite that bad.
I hope they just fixed the really annoying Airport Express/wake from sleep bug.

control - alt - delete

hardy har har :p

I've never tried to force quit while in dashboard, so I don't know if that would work, but hit Command(apple key) + alt + escape to force quit.

Am I the only person with problems?

I have a iMac G5 and after installing 10.4.2 my computer has been running absolutely, unbelievably slow and nothing works. It's really making me mad. I am glad I have not yet updated my PowerBook since this is the only computer still working for me. Anyways... has anyone else experiences this same problem? If so, let me know and I will further explain my problems. My E-mail is cmcclain@tampabay.rr.com and my AIM is citrusgoofy
Thanks, Colby.

guess what.. the iphoto bug is still there.. destroys pics still. Fantastic. The biggest bug in the lot and it's still alive.

..not altogether surprising given that this is an OS X update and not an iPhoto/iLife update...

Will not install if an application using javascript is running(Aquisition). Either by SUpdate or SAI. Also SAI is at 43 mb, SUpdate is 23 mb what gives?

This Knowledge Base article explains it. Only the big updater will be available via the link on Apple's support page. Software Update checks your system to see if you can get away with having to download less.

Except that the bug is to do with ColorSync profiles and seems to have only appeared in Tiger rather than Panther... so there was an expectation that it was a Tiger bug rather than an iPhoto one, particularly when one of the developer builds was said to have fixed the iPhoto bug. :(
