Ever since 10.4.3 it's taken FOREVER to boot up. 10.4.4 seems even LONGER.

I restarted my PB, went to brush my teeth, and when I came back, IT WAS STILL BOOTING UP!
It was at least 2 minutes.. my sonicare has that auto-timer thingiee.

Rgghhh... Everything's been super-buggy lately, so I get to restart about every four days.

Well everything went fine on my laptop but on my desktop it is a different story.

My desktop never completely rebooted so i had to do a hard shutdown. And i was just playing around with it and iTunes seems to have forgot were some of my songs are. I have my music folder in the shared directory and it was fine before the update but now it has trouble finding about one third the songs.

Oh well, just more freaking work for me to do.

PHP and MySQL working fine here.

PHP 5.0.4
Apache 1.3.33

MySQL 4.13-beta? You do know that they are up to 4.1.16 in the 4.1 series?

On our new G4 1.67 High Res 15" PowerBooK (7200rpm HD) , 10.4.4 boots in about 20 seconds. 10.4.3 was about the same.

Installed on my iBook with out a hitch. Yes the first restart took a little long, but as with all of the Tiger updates, this update makes the OS feel "snappier"

I like the new calendar wiget

Well, I don't. I hate it. I hate it like I've never hated anything Apple since the pre-OS X days. I think they should have kept the old one too, and let the user choose wich one to use. Fortunately, my sister's Mac mini wasn't updated yet, so I simply made a copy and put it alongside the new one in my PB (I did the same with the Address Book one, because I don't like it much either).

I assume that this is because you have previously set the default socket in the php.ini file.

Typo error, 5.1.3. Unsure if I will upgrade to alpha 5.1.4 just yet.

I noticed something happens to me now, not sure about anyone else.

Half the time I quit iChat and open it, it has the welcome to iChat AV thing and I have to put my name in again. Yet it already has my Screen Name and password there, as well as my old buddy icon in the list...odd. And a pain.

God god....I am sooo not updating my Power Mac to 10.4.4 after reading all these posts...

Is there anyway to get Software Update to quit tempting me?

*edit* I gave in and updated and all is well, no problems with Bluetooth, safari or anything else that I can tell, had reinstall the front row hack but that's about it..

Same with me. Some people have good luck but those who don't . . . so I'll wait for 10.4.5, which shouldn't be that long now.

Boot up time long? Really? Maybe its just because of my machine, but my power mac boots really quick in 10.4.3...

I'm not sure about 10.4.4, I've only booted once, and it was after installation so that always takes a little while.

I haven't had any of the problems listed so far. I have 10.4.4 on both my PB and my PM.

since updating to 10.4.4, iChat no longer makes any alert sounds. eg I have the "ping" sound set for when a message is received, "<insert username here> is online" spoken message, etc etc. I have already deleted all the preferences for iChat(.plist files), repaired permissions and problem is still there. I can hear the sounds in the iChat prefs (when you are picking a sound from the drop down list it previews it for you), but not when it actually should be making sound. No other apps have any problems with sound, and my speakers are working fine. Any suggestions?

Had to archive and install after update

Updated my powerbook and came back about an hour later to see if it was done. My book was asleep and would not awaken. Had to shut it down by removing the battery (would not shut down by holding down the power button) and when I restarted, it booted into a command line that said "Welcome to Darwin"! Spoke to Applecare and eventually had to do an archive and install of the OS and then reinstall the updates. Paid close attention this time. Haven't found any problems yet.
Reinstalling was a pain, but if this was a windows computer, I would have had to reformat the HD and reinstall all my apps and data.
I was up and running in 30 minutes.

mac help no longer working since update

Mac help will open, I can type in a query and get a list of topics-- but then neither double-clicking on a selection nor clicking "open" button will open the topic.

I did use Onyx before update. After installing 10.4.4 and restarting, I also ran Onyx and restarted again. After discovering the Mac Help problem, I also ran Onyx a third time, and clicked the "reset Mac help." Just restarted again and I'm still having the prob with Mac Help.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

No suggestions I'm afraid, but I can confirm my G5 has exactly the same problem.

EDIT: OnyX fixed it for me.

Has Petition Online been borked by the 10.4.4 (Safari 2.0.3) update for anyone else?

When I go to any of the petitions (such as this one here) and click on "View Current Signatures," the HTML doesn't get displayed. I just get the file (screenshot below). I just tested it on a machine still running 10.4.3 and everything works as it should.

Can anyone else confirm a 10.4.4 problem here?

Yeah, I get the same thing. Works in Firefox.
