Please let 10.5.2 come out today!!!

Anyone like to bet it will be today?
And approx what time -/+ 1 hour?

:apple:
If it comes out today we will have to wait for another ten or eleven hours. Normally they release updates between 12:30 and 13:00 PM Cupertino time. It's 2:30 AM in Cupertino right now.

It's pretty sad, and this just makes no sense to me, but apparently Apple will delay 10.5.2 untill 26th of February as this is the date the rumoured special event will take place...

I hope it's not true, but I'm affraid it is :(

I don't think Apple would spend so much effort and money on some update announcement. Also, if they're arranging such a special event their message is likely "BOOM! Isn't this great?" and not "Folks, we finally managed to fix our bugs. Come and celebrate with us!"
Don't ya think?

Yes, it's not my idea. AppleInsider (which is a reliable source) came up with this.
I think it makes no sense Apple would delay it untill another 2-3 weeks, but as we all know is Apple pretty unpredictable...

Is there any reason to suspect this?

Why would they delay bug fixes until a promotional event?

The article doesn't seem to mention 10.5.2
Ahum, Mac Rumors mentioned it partly based on the AppleInsider article.

They say, however, the iPhone SDK is most likely to have is own event.

Just my opinion (which turned out to be wrong time after time, but who cares) is MacBook Pro's next Tuesday and 10.5.2 before the MacBook Pro's, so that could be today, tomorrow (unlikely to me), Monday or perhaps Tuesday.

The lack of 9c32 is promising... I think the fact that they might mention 10.5.2 at the promo event doesn't mean they'll necessarily delay release. Have they ever done that?

 who said this?
Mac Rumors for example and some others too. It all turned out to be wrong, 'cause we're still waiting for it, but it's not unusal Apple would have an event and release a major update at the same time.

Given the current state of 10.5.2 it seems unlikely they would wait for another two weeks.

Another seed! From AppleInsider -
New Mac OS X 10.5.2 seed hints at upcoming release

Apple seeded its 9C31 build of its Mac OS X 10.5.2 update to developers last night, AppleInsider has learned.

The update marks just one build number after the most recent seed and only fixes an isolated network connection issue, people familiar with the seed report.

Such rapid-fire updates to developers are often a telltale sign that a public release is impending.

The information is confused. Appleinsider reports build 9C31 was seeded *last night* to developers, the same build number MacRumors posted a couple of days ago.

Here's hoping to see 10.5.2 the light later today, although I wouldn't bet on it.

And additionally it seems you're using one (disproved) rumour to confirm another rumour... the question remains, have they ever used a promo event to showcase a point release? I think the reason that people thought 10.5.2 would come out at macworld was because they thought it was necessary for Macbook Air (or other products like the the rumoured new MBP), and because it seemed overdue. I think the truth is we're all clutching at straws, but if the development on 10.5.2 is more or less finished it seems bizarre to my mind that they would wait 2 weeks to put it on software update, particularly considering it's not primarily about adding new features, but fixing new bugs... If there were new features they wanted to save for some big anouncement, then you'd think they'd have a bug fix update ASAP, and then a feature update when it suited them.

Actually it looks like macrumors posted it *last night* (by my clock, yesterday midnight GMT)

That's like saying if a new car comes out "Well, it keeps breaking down, the doors don't close properly etc, but they will fix it later". When I buy a product of any kind I want it to work as it should out of the box. I am aware that early releases of apps and OSes have issues (I often use Beta software), but in my opinion this version of Leopard was not really ready for release, as some of the issues (especially the proxy handling) with it seriously limit its functionality.

You're comparing apples and oranges here to a degree, because it really is not fair to compare an OS with an automobile. A car doesn't have to be engineered to work with a multitude of different hardware (and third-party software) configurations. For some, the initial release of Leopard had some major bugs. For others, myself included, it was pretty stable when first released.

I am not saying that they couldn't have gotten Leopard to be less buggy before they released it to the masses, but I certainly do not begrudge Apple. They've been quick with updates to fix bugs, and I am pretty confident that 10.5.2 will fix nearly all of current user issues with bugs.

i'm sick of waiting. i really want this update to come out but i also want this update to be good. i'm sick of Safari hanging so much. that's my biggest problem, i love Safari but it keeps hanging. i've been reporting every single one so..

i keep hoping that "today will be the day for 10.5.2" but...nope. :-(

So, you're to blame!! They were getting ready to release the update, but received another of your reports and had to continue debugging!
:D

hahaha. as long as the problems get fixed in a timely manor. today, mac os x crashed completely. i can't take this anymore. i NEED the update. it's getting ridiculous. i should have waited to upgrade to Leopard.
