You guys seem to have forgot the laws of perspective, things farther away look smaller. The iPhone is way at the front of the keyboard And the screen is a good 8 inches behind it.

WAIT! UPDATE!

That can't be a MacBook Air... look at the bezel under the screen compared to the side!

Huh.

The picture of the banner is taken at an angle causing foreshortening that makes the edge look smaller than the bottom. It's a MacBook Air.

Anybody else notice this?

I think this picture is stretched. Look at the width (or height in this picture) of the Iphone, and look at the icons on the wall, they are not square. The rim on the macbook air is taller also, making me think that this picture was taken by a crappy camera or phone camera, that distorted the aspect of the photo.

Either way, if they are going to release a new product, it will not be on the entrance banner for WWDC08, it will be a surprise in Jobs' keynote.

I FOUND SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!!
okay
look at the poster with all of the app icons on the wall
look at the computer(almost looks like MBA)
now
on the right there is a new button(has already been addressed on the post)
NOW......
look at the screen, it doesnt line up with the supossive keyboard
i think it could be a tablet on its charger

thoughts?

It's Apple related, it just happened, it's about WWDC on Monday.

You do realize that's what this website is about, right? Mac Rumors? Mac Community Discussion? Innuendo? Hints? Allegations better left unsaid sometimes? That sorta thing?

I really enjoyed reading that. ;)

I thought you were joking. Weren't you talking about perspective earlier?!

Edit: whoops, didn't realize you were quoting yourself.

No, I'm not, look at the picture, the bezel is the same length on the sides in the real MBA, in the banner, the sides are WAY shorter then the bottom bezel, and if the MBA was tilted, then only one side would have that effect, same with the banner being tilted.

so lemme get this straight...

new 3G iPhone (extremely highly rumored, basically a fact)

phone/touch firmware 2.0 (extremely highly rumored, basically a fact)

MobileMe (highly rumored)

Mac OSX 10.6 "Snow-Leopard" CODENAME (rumored somewhat high)

MacOSX-esque tablet (decently rumored)

New Macbook/Macbook Pros (rumored, low-medium ranked)

anyone think that is a little bit too much for WWDC? I mean, whoa lol. If they announce even 60% of those, I will be amazed :p

Made Exhibit B in Photoshop just now:

Cool.........But the iPhones on the banners are the current models. :( I don't see anything new about them.(no video camera on the front, no 3G symbol/icon in the top status bar, etc.) PPPPPPPPLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSEEEEEEEE Steve, release the new iPhone on Monday. I think we will start riots if you don't. Torches and pitchforks anyone??:D

Don't worry - I'm sure it'll be there. They're not exactly going to reveal the new iPhone on a poster, are they. :D

It was never called either, it was always called Mac OS X. The iPhone OS never had a name until now though (I'm pretty sure).

Yes, but what I was saying is that now it appears to be simply "OS X". No "Mac" in the name.

This could imply that OS X will be employed beyond the Mac.

(But if they're going that route on naming conventions, why is the other called "OSX iPhone" if it's not just on the iPhone...)

Am I the only one noticing the obvious?
It looks like we have an MacBook Pro redesign here!

Take a look at right side of the MacBook Air on the big banner, it's tapering is close to the current MacBook Air, if not similar:

Now look at the left side, we se a slightly different tapering, and a darker color:

Current MacBook Pro:

it doesn't match any of Apple's shipping notebooks, is this the new MacBook Pro?

While perspective may enhance it, look at the sides. They ARE shorter. Maybe the MBA is stretched or something, but the sides ARE shorter on the side.

See?

Someone tell me what "advanced" means.

Gladly! Courtesy of Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary

Main Entry:
ad·vanced
Function:
adjective
Date:
1534

1: far on in time or course <a man advanced in years>2 a: being beyond others in progress or ideas <tastes a bit too advanced for the times> b: being beyond the elementary or introductory <advanced chemistry> c: greatly developed beyond an initial stage <the most advanced scientific methods> <advanced weapons systems> d: much evolved from an early ancestral type <bees and other advanced insects> <advanced traits>

I have 3 words to describe that "fat" iPhone lookalike on its side:

iPod Touch Nano!

If you really want to fan the flames of the rumor mill, don't you think it's suspicious that the iPhone blocks out the name of the machine it's in front of?
On a more serious note, whilst the bottom of the Bezel is wider than the sides on the Air, there is a much more glaring difference, and that it the thickness of the front edge of the machine. I'm sat typing this on my MBA, and there is no way the front edge is anywhere near as wide as that on the poster. Added to that is the dimensions of the IR sensor on the right hand front edge: On the MBA it's much thinner, wider and further to the left than the one on the photo.

I've attached a couple of images to illustrate what I mean:
The first one is from the poster, the second one is an MBA from Apple's site. It could be perspective, but there's quite a difference...

Good comparison. Thanks for compiling that. It is indeed a new thicker computer. That is not the MacBook Air.

Looks like my wish is coming true. New MacBook Pro on Tuesday! :)

I'm barely puffing along with my first gen MBP. My Aperture library has gotten my HDD down to 5GB available :(

Also: funny how the MBA actually makes the current MBP look quite fat. Amazing. Just a couple of years ago, I was so impressed at how slim the MBP was.

What's the orange icon on the right side?

Oh, someone said it was the "Cocoa Touch" icon. That sounds more logical.

I think yuo guys are analyzing the MBA picture too much... it's probably natural distortion from the camera lens and the fact that it's a piece of canvas hanging on the wall.

Why does Apple call it OS X iPhone when it runs on the iPod Touch also? Wouldn't OS X Mobile be more appropiate or is the iPod Touch just the red-headed stepchild that Apple hardly notices.
