You are all wrong MacRumors is a 'name' and therefore it is not bound by the same rules of spelling. It is not Mac Rumors or Mac Rumours - it is 'MacRumors' and whether you be US or UK english speaking it should be spelt as 'MacRumors'.

I think you're on the wrong site buddy....this is MacRumo(u)rs, not MacRumor.

Either way, both spellings are correct - don't bother posting a serious answer moaning at people who are clearly having a bit of friendly banter over the spelling...makes you look a little silly ;)

As another poster mentioned, this site can be accessed via BOTH spellings: http://www.macrumours.co.uk

Considering that Lion is a relatively underwhelming release, they will surely launch it alongside the following:

- New Minis and MBAs;
- new iWork suite.

New MacPros and pro displays will follow suit shortly. :rolleyes:

Underwhelming? Quality/feature wise or sale wise? Because I don't think I've ever seen so much hype for any type of OS, Windows included.

If you ask me, I think Lion will be a record setter in OS history.

Is anyone else wondering if LaCie is finally going to release their Thunderbolt SSD drive on the same day that Lion is released?

Based on what I have read, the LaCie drive is due for release any time now, so it doesn't seem unreasonable to guess that they/Apple would match the releases.

Now this whole release story has become the surprise exam paradox

The students set off home for the weekend. Their teacher had been cruel in his sentencing: "You shall have an examination at nine in the morning one day next week; but you will not know in advance which day-it will be a surprise."
"Suppose," thought one to herself with the desperation available only to the damned and the examinable: "Suppose we were still unexamined until Friday. I know there will be an examination some time this week, and so I would be able to expect the Friday examination. Therefore the teacher cannot possibly leave it until Friday."

"Suppose further," she thought to herself: "Suppose that I am still unexamined on Thursday. I know the examination cannot be on Friday, so it would have to come on Thursday. But then too I would have been able to predict its day. So, the teacher cannot leave it until Thursday either. Or Wednesday... or Tuesday... or Monday.. In fact, he cannot possibly set any examination at all, since no day would be a surprise!"

And when the teacher handed out exam papers at nine o'clock on Wednesday morning — wasn't she surprised!

And the language English last time I checked originated in the UK ....

Its the old battle of... the americans took the language and edited it to suit them. Pointless arguments and one that has been around a long long time...

Its funny though because although it is true its our language and the US just change it for there own needs... a lot of us in England believe we are a race of people we are "British!"

Fact is.. we are mixed from vikings.. to germans...etc etc we are not a unique group. I laugh everytime I hear someone complain about britain being changed into another culture... when we are many.

Yes. But in your forum signature you say "MacRumor:User". What is MacRumor? I know this forum is called MacRumours. This forum has the s in the name. Without the s it's not this forum. It's a different name.

So they bought out the other URL and just have a re-direct to this URL. Nothing special. A lot of people/companies do this.

Are you guys REALLY gonna continue this stupid discussion? The topic here is about LION, NOT how MacRumors should be spelled.

1 - rumors in US English;
2 - rumours in British English;
3 - MacRumors as a proper name.

End of story, please.

A Best Buy employee told me that they have had a huge crate of new airs and minis for a little more than two weeks. He said they were supposed to release them on the 14th but an Apple rep called like the day before and told them to hold off til the 21st. I guess it could be sooner than that but the thing is Best Buy stores have definitely had them for awhile now. Updates will have to be loaded when the machines turn on for the first time. Oh and he also said the airs and minis will for sure for sure come out the same day.
I know right? MR seems to be just throwing up one guess after the other.

You must be new to Macs, then...Lion is BY FAR the most underwhelming OS X release in recent history - the only hoopla is about the "innovative" means of delivery (i.e., the AppStore), not the OS features themselves.

I will take it, of course, but with very low expectations anyway (when compared to Panther, Tiger and Leopard, that is).

Been waiting patiently. I'm excited for when it does land regardless of rumors. I just know I'm downloading the second I see it pop up! Should look nice on my new 27" iMac. :D

Yea, I'm equally excited for the Lacie drive and have been hoping for an imminent release (though not as excited for what the price could potentially be...) It would be awesome to see this released alongside all of Apple's hardware releases to really start putting Thunderbolt in the lime light.

What did Steve Jobs say?

Is Harold Camping the one who keeps releasing these dates?

Our lord & master Steve Jobs said that Mac OS 10.7 Lion would be released in July. Did he just say July or did he say July, 2011?

In other posts most of the Mac OS X version updates have come out very close the the end of the month. So I wouldn't even start looking for an update before the end of next week. Apple could surprise us with an earlier than that release. Also the one more thing could be that Mac OS 10.7 Lion had not yet been tamed such that we will have to wait until some yet to be disclosed time frame. This will start a new rumor that first Apple's now MAIN & MAJOR OS iOS must first be released to be sure that the new Apple MINOR OS, Mac OS 10.7 Lion does not degrade the operation of iOS 5 or maybe iOS 6 must be out first.

Just remember that iToys rank over Macs now. As Macs cost too much to build, Macs are only sold to Mac Users while the iToys are sold more to Windows Users than Mac Users. iToy iOS release said or rumored to be in September 2011. This may be a longer wait than we thought.

A 5:30AM Pacific release time makes some sense in that it would help Apple's servers by not having all of North America hit them if they released it later in the morning, Pacific time.

Asia will be ending their day, Europe will be in the middle, and North America will be starting theirs.

But if new hardware is shipping with Lion, you'd think the Apple Retail Stores would have that product available to sell. And yet I don't recall any rumors of said hardware arriving at the stores (of course, it could be dropped off tonight or tomorrow morning).

Apple is lame and disrespectful towards its fans. Why not tell us Wednesday if they know it's Wednesday. Do they realize we have lives, jobs, and families to care for?
