There's still a good number of bugs/quirks in the GM:

-Safari constantly throws up an error saying something to the effect of the page can't load, click to try again.
-Launchpad has no way to delete non-App Store apps and includes every app in the Applications folder (including all the Office uninstallers and all the various Adobe CS apps like Extension Manager and installers strewn about)
-Can't drag files into the Open File window to select it quickly
-Can't use Command-D to quickly select "Don't Save" when closing an unsaved document
-Can't remove items from the Finder sidebar by dragging them off
-No way to clear the list of recent documents from the Dock menu of apps

Funny - been using Lion for only a day and I'm seeing most of this.

Also:

- When the MBP goes to sleep, I can no longer wake it up via the trackpad. I have to hit the space bar for the screen to come back.
- The dashboard widgets when connected to an external monitor completely wastes the desktop on the external monitor. Lame.

Report these findings, please! A non-buggy release would be awesome! :)

Theres also a shot which shows the 11th unfortunately.

Hopefully it will be next week then i wont have too long without it until pay day!

On Apple's website, all of the Lion preview pictures show the 17th of July in iCal like always, EXCEPT one picture that shows the 26th (which is coincidentally a Tuesday).
Now it may be nothing, but I'm a fan of deadlines, so I'm going to put my money on the 26th. :p

EDIT: http://www.apple.com/macosx/
It's the picture that features the launchpad.
Nice find.

In that same picture, iCal on the launchpad shows the 17th, but in the dock it's 26th.

I have no idea if it will be released on 7/14 or not, but to those who think there will be another "GM" type release, it isn't going to happen. Any updates will be released as 10.7.1 update.

Why not? Apple released a second GM for iOS once, so why couldn't they do it for OS X?

I think we can tell with a higher degree of (un)certainty after 10 AM Cupertino Time. That's when Apple always does major things, ranging from keynotes to releases.

so, in about one hour and 15 minutes. :)

My MBP does not wake via the trackpad in SL.

don't worry, neither does mine. Nor did my first-generation MBP.

I agree. It seems that people who are going to benefit the most from Lion are those who don't actually get any work done on their computers.

You keep telling yourself that, and I'll enjoy the new OpenGL stack and resume. More copies for the rest of us.

That's because the dock icon changes everyday where as the icon in Launchpad does not. The photo was simply taken on the 26th of the month. I think this is a stretch to say that this is pointing towards a July 26th release date.

Bugs or no bugs. Just ship it.

Rumors are just a Rumors

Today a learned a very simple lesson from all about Lion kickoff, Refresh of Macbook and Mac Mini and so on, rumors are just rumors, that's all about nothing else.... :apple:

Time from GM to Release

I just looked up the time it took to get from Golden Master to release. For those interested, with Snow Leopard it took 16 days, with two weekends in between.

there must be something comming. The Apple store employees had to stay last night to get educated on some new products right? That wasn't for nothing..

If you don't have a developer account I get your impatience.

If you have a developer account then you already have the full Lion release, which is the GM. Just use that and you'll get updates accordingly.

The GM build is what you'll see released to the public.

pity, i really want to know why lion have desktop photo of 3200x2000, when no existing monitor can reach that resolution.

Please oh apple, give us your new super size LED monitor. I am waiting with bated breath.

There's no rush really. Why are you in such a hurry ? They'll ship it when they're happy with it.

FDE is pretty sweet thing to have if you are prone to not using Kensington Locks...

That isn't true

Except that for SL they had to create/print DVDs for the release date while with Lion they're just releasing software on the App Store. Shouldn't need as much lead time with Lion.

I'm probably going insane, so feel free to ignore me completely (actually, please do), but I could have SWORN the first reports I read about those overnights stated they'd be TONIGHT, not last night. Whoever it was that said to wait until 10:00 Cupertino time has a point-I'll, how you say, "give up hope" for a release today after then. Tomorrow would make sense, but if it doesn't happen, I'm betting it won't be for another week at LEAST.
...Wow, I need to work on my ranting post style. It's not very respectable.
