He was smart enough to fewl jOOOOO ;d

Nope - I'm using a Windows machine at work right now. No Mac or app store in sight.

I was just calling him a dumbass.

Has an OS release ever come out earlier than the last week of a month?

I still think they'll announce a specific date a week ahead of the debut (for marketing purposes).

Aaaahhhh its here its here its here!!!!!! Check your app stores!!! Its here! :d :d :d :d

You all asked for it ... stop it already.
When Lion will be here, there will be 10.000 Post why Apple is releasing beta software...

Trolololololroflylmaoroflcopter!

Anyone getting mad over this wanna if it's that time of the month again? Seriously kinda epitomizes the extent to which some people get their panties in a knot about a rumor lol, potentially in a good way (I ain't trippin OUT tho..lol), but it was too obvious that the obvious troll attempt was obvious.

I mean, no one else kinda saw that there was no mention ANYwhere else on this site? lol

I'm sure I read when this first rumour came out that it was 9am PST? The hardware might not come out til next Tuesday, like they do with iOS and a new phone...?

Now I see..

I got it! I know why it's not yet released...
at Cupertino it's only 7.45 AM. Don't you think that Steve would like to have breakfast before unleashing such a beast? :apple:

Does anybody wandering in MacRumors own the place where Steve usually have breakfast? Please, tell him we're all waiting! Bring the bill and push him out! :D

When a company (especially Apple) says that they are going to release a new product in a certain month or season without saying the exact date, they usually do it during the late part of that month or season.

When Jobs says Lion will be released July, he doesn't mean July 5th or 10th, he means 20th, 25th, etc.

Let me just add, I think Lion is a fantastic OS, yes there are a number of changes throughout the OS, but I really think it's for the better. I've been using Lion for months now and it took a bit of getting used to at the beginning, but I slowly warmed to it and now I find it hard to go back to SL. Number of features are nice, versions, full-screen mode, resume, new mail and of course gestures which really make the the experience all that better. To all the haters and naysayers I'd say have patience. Comparing it to Vista's days is slightly ignorant in my opinion.

How do I know all applications I have will work with Lion? is there anyway to know it before upgrading???

They'll wait til the last week of July, 'cause they're so annoying with how they keep everything secret 'cause "they can." It's like instead of saying $10.00, they say $9.99. They won't say August, even though that's when it'll be released 'cause it will be August within three days after it's released. They need to release it, yes there will be bugs, but that's what updates are for!

Also, if you are not sure if an app is a PowerPC app or not, you can go to System Profiler > Applications. Under the "Kind" column, if it says PowerPC it will not be compatible. Intel and Universal should be fine.

To those of you claiming the conference call being the main reason next week is better, I have some words too.

iPad. The following week they had a number call, and the praised the numbers.

It could be a good thing to get it out before the call.

Thanks!

On Apple's website, all of the Lion preview pictures show the 17th of July in iCal like always, EXCEPT one picture that shows the 26th (which is coincidentally a Tuesday).
Now it may be nothing, but I'm a fan of deadlines, so I'm going to put my money on the 26th. :p

EDIT: http://www.apple.com/macosx/
It's the picture that features the launchpad.

It's a nice thought, but if you look close enough you can tell that the month listed over the 26th in that shot is definitely not July. It looks like it could be May, but not July.
