Ive been using the GM on 2 machines, for a month. Works fantastic and FASTER.

I'm using a 2008 Mac Pro and a new MB Pro.

Depending on your setup, Your mileage may vary.

I've heard that before :D Like I said... I'll wait.... in the next week I'll start reading the early reviewers comments her on MR.... My installation works just fine as it is. As for faster, my computer spends way way more time waiting for me than I do for it....

They are doing free, prolly, because this is a business move since they got a slap on the wrist with off shore tax havens? Good for tax purposes for a business to give free stuff. Anyone jump in on this one who can be more technical with terms / experience? Thanks.

Sure I can. You're wrong. :D

Mavericks #1 free download; Microsoft Remote Desktop #2

I wonder if that's significant… Must make at least Tim Cook happy.

The real question is: WILL YOUR PRINTER WORK ANYMORE AT ALL AFTER THIS UPDATE/UPGRADE...? If it won't and Samsung, Epson have NOT or will not created drivers...forget printing anything.

My hp printer works fine. Thanks for posting big enough for me to read without my glasses.
The italics and bold aren't necessary though.

Just installed on my iMac and MBP.

Is there any way to turn off the menu-bar on my two external displays?

of course not!!! you pay apple to decide that by you. welcome to apple world.

I suggest for all having problems downloading from the app store, to get the torrent of the 2nd GM, it's just the same thing. works perfectly.

Downloaded, Installed ... Kernel panics... my system was fine before now I am having all sorts of Issues!!!!!

10.8.5 - to 10.9 I did...

- Remember your backups people!!!

Previewing/Opening Quicktime Movies?

It seems with Maverick you now can't preview or open certain quicktime movies. (Apple PNG is all I've discovered so far), It has you convert to H.264. This really sucks as I have tons of motion graphics that I usually have to sift through.

However, I can open with Quicktime 7.

WTF???

I did my upgrade earlier today as soon as it was available. Took about 45 minutes to download, another hour to install, configure and reboot a couple times.

So far everything looks good. Runs fine....don't really notice anything different except it replaced my desktop pic with a big wave so I had to set that back. Few new looking icons.

I guess I'm okay with it...I'm not really a power user...just surf, email, pics and the occasional Word doc....it was free so bonus....

MBP, 17", 2.8 C2D 4Gb....Mid 2009.

Did the installation fail and cause the disk to be damaged?? I tried repairing it, but it's all unseccessful and needs to be restored. Did this happen to anyone??

It's pretty seamless for me so far, I like the maps app, other than that I don't notice much difference. Some preference pane thing wasn't compatible for one program, everything else went without a hitch.

Looking forward to seeing if this "memory compression" business actually works.

I'm sure this horse is dead, but just sat down from a long day and trying to keep up with the news.

Is this release the same GM #2 already released a few days back? I'm sure it is, just checking before creating USB installer to update 3 more Mac's.

Thanks!

This happened to me on 2 SATA HDD's in my Mac Pro with the first GM release (a second was deployed a few days ago that should be this version). I installed the GM update, and 2 drives on my 6-Core Mac Pro5,1 experienced bad sectors (have 4x 4TB Western Digital SATA's, they sent replacements no questions asked). The news drives are running well. This happened again on a 2012 Mac Mini HTPC. Curious, I booted into Windows on it, no errors reported.

This has come up on a few forums.

You didn't had SMARTreporter installed, did you?
What if Mav installer is just very picky about SMART data and does not want to install in any drive that has reallocated sectors at all?

I just upgraded. Liking it, but where did Network Utility go?!?!?!?!!! Dinkleberrrrggg...

EDIT: Apparently, I have to go into System Information then press Window > Network Utility to get it. I put it on my Dock, and everything is OK now. Why? Just why? Whose idea was that?

Nope, keep it basic unless data loss, then pull out Data Rescue III. Disk Utility serves it purpose, don't tinker.

I'm tempted to clean install of Mavericks..... After few minor issues.

When checking mail. i get occasional beach ball IMAP servers.
