What is the advantage of a fresh install? Bought an external drive yesterday and backed up my MacBook Pro but I just don't trust it. Surely because I backed up on lion, if i restore in ML it won't play nice?

All the people on here who think they are cute by hinting at how they pirate are pathetic. Buy your software or go to the torrent forums to discuss that subject. That's where people make their pathetic excuses for stealing software - "oh everything should be free, it's digital so it's not really stealing - I can't afford something so I have every right to take it" - there is free software everywhere geniuses: it's called open source / GNU/ free Mac App Store Apps / trials / promotions / demos / shareware. If you want games go on Steam they sell full games on discounts sometimes for as low as $2-5. There is no excuse.

Cute? Haha

my Command and R button are going to go through a lot tonight... I hope they don't wear out.

How is $39 cheaper than $19.99 (since iCloud is free too)

39 is cheaper, when you only need to pay every 3 years.
icloud is 5 GB free. I pay 20$ pr year for 10GB extra space today.
at Skydrive I get 25GB for free...

So if we asume that Microsoft releases every 3 year, and Apple every year for 3 years:

Apple OS: 60
Apple iCloud: 60
Total: 120

Microsoft OS: 40
Skydrive: 0
Total: 40

Thats cheaper in my book... (I have both though, so I'm paying even more :))

You need a win7/win vista (xp?) license to buy the $40 upgrade. That would be that, $100-$200+ extra?

I have 3 macs, total cost for update $20.
Does the windows upgrade include multiple machines or is it $40 / computer?

We are also really looking forward to the amazing new products we've got in the pipeline

so new iPhone, new iPods, new MacBook Pros, and a smaller iPad? Interesting.

Just bought CCC(finally, I know), cleaning out one of my extra external HDDs so I can make it my bootable backup. Movies and tv shows already transferred to my iPad for entertainment while the backup is going on.

Looking forward to it going live in the morning so I can spend the next many MANY hours trying to download it. Hopefully it doesn't take as many hours to download as I think it will (12-13hrs).

So Im guessing Australia's 25th July doesnt actually exist and we need to wait till the 26th?

Well, the 40$ isn't the full version, that'll cost 70$. Plus, new signups for Skydrive is 7gbs, to upgrade to more space, you need to pay 10$ for the 20gb add on. So let's recalculate.

Apple OS: 60$ (works as many systems are you control and this gives 3 upgrades)
Apple iCloud: 60$
Total: 120

Microsoft OS:70$ (only works on one system and also only one OS upgrade in 3 year period).
Skydrive: 30$
Total: 100$

For the 20$ difference, Apple's offering looks pretty darn nice to me. The more machine you own, the cheaper it is on Apple.
