....Wow.

Why the hell don't you just take that $100 and donate it to charity or something, or buy someone a nice gift, instead of donating it to a corporation that already has an extremely healthy profit margins on all its products? You're certainly a 'special' type of consumer.

LOL. That's what I was thinking. Apple has one of the highest margins for its industry. And that's just plain dumb - donate the money somewhere and be useful to society.

I have Leopard, but I'll be buying Snow Leopard for $129 instead of $29 because it's worth way more than that to me, and a healthy markup is what allowed Apple to become what they are, so I will continue to do my part. Thanks for your hard work, Apple. Keep it up.
I'm usually the last person to use the "comparative worth" thing, but if Apple deem it worth a $30 upgrade I'm pretty sure that extra $100 would be a lot more valuable to a charity than Apple, who're already sitting on billions.

$100 can save multiple lives easily. But I'm just being devil's advocate.. I also like the idea of supporting Apple, I just think it's odd if they've explicitly offered it to you for less. You don't owe them if you're already a customer. :)

edit: haha ok I'm too slow.

That is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

Well, better buy SL for 29 bucks and send that 100 bucks to Somalia - you'll save many lifes there!

That is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

Come on, guys.
Not too harsh.

It's like donating money to your favorite football club. Like paying too much money to Manchester United via buying a new home-shirt at the shop inside the stadium. :p
You KNOW you are paying far too much money for something you can get a lot cheaper... but you want to pay for it...

He is simply enthusiastic! And he is willing to pay more for something he really wants.

Hopefully we will see that darker theme applied to all aspects of the OS. All we need is that and a replacement for Aqua... Disappearing scroll bars? (like iPhone).

How about this? :D LOL

That actually looks very nice IMO

That's the biggest exaggeration I've ever seen since the formation of the universe!

Yeah, I think it's nice when people are so enthusiastic. Regardless, there might be other good reasons for wanting a full retail install over an upgrade, depends exactly how they release it I guess.

It's not the same thing. If it was the same, he'd be going to the Manchester United game and giving the guy a $100 and tell them to keep the change for a $20 shirt. If they were charging $100 and he bought it for $100 knowing it's overpriced, then that is different.

Don't take it too literally.

I just want to stress the fact that in someone's enthusiasm, he/she can willingly pay too much. If it is just because they want to support the cause more than usual (as this person does), or because the occasions leads you to do so, or whatever.... the fact is the person WANTS to do it.

And they have their reasons. And no-one should judge a person buy the way he/she willingly spends their cash.

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I'm not reading through 4 pages of posts.

Safari has been updated to build 6531.1, from 6531.0 , but it's still Safari 4.0 .

I wonder why they didn't give us safari 4.0.2?

Don
Use WebKit nightlies if you want the latest and greatest. It's actually newer than Safari 4.0.2.

so far I am not that impressed with the over-hyped Snow Leopard—no wonder it is less than $30!

WHERE ARE THE MULTIPLE OPTONS FOR FONT SMOOTHING STYLE?

Is Apple NOT going to give us options with Font smoothing as they did with all other versions of OS X? Even Windows gives options for it's version of Font smoothing.

I have no idea what you talk about in terms of "font smoothing options"...what I would ask instead is: why do fonts look SO bad in every version of Windows when compared with OS X?

dude, that is the biggest crap i've heared for a while! do something usefull instead!!!!!!!!

edit: omg, i re-read it... utter nonsense

Relax; it is his money, he earned it; he alone will decide where and how he spends it. And we have no idea that he might already be donating to God knows how many charities.
