Downloading here in the UK.

Seems to be downloading at a decent rate here ...24 minutes to go after downloading 1.36 GB of the 5.07 GB

I am going to be running it in a VM - I know the GPU may not be up to giving me the full performance but I'd just like to have a play with it.

I'm jealous of all you people who actually have a proper internet connection :( 1 hour and 59 minutes to go.

Almost zero unless you do something stupid... When your finished playing with Yosemite just drag its System folder, users, apps, and library to the trash.

Am I not installing it over the current system, and then just updating it periodically as the updates come out all the way to the GM and Final Release?

Going to install on my main partition over Mavericks, but I have a Time Machine backup on standby if things go awry. Fingers crossed :D

Interesting: Developer Preview 4 was build 14A298I and the Public Beta is build 14A299I...

Documents and Data

Any clarification on what they mean by data? I don't use iCloud documents so no worries there, but I certainly do use calendar and contacts. Does anyone know if those are impacted by turning on the new iCloud Drive?

Phones/iPads are also backed up to iTunes, not cloud, so I'm not worried about that data.

Yes, you can do that. I am not sure what orestes was trying to say, that is not how you downgrade to Mavericks...

The code Apple gave me is already redeemed and nothing is showing up on the purchases tab.

I think this is broken. Unless there's a fix, no public beta for me. I tried to join up into the public program again but it only have me the same already redeemed code.

Downloading fine over here. I never got a email so I had to go to the appleseed site and log in. Then it gave me the code. I clicked the code it redirected to the App Store and redeemed it. Only way I could tell it was downloading was to click purchases. It was right up top downloading.

Thats the code I'm trying to use and says code has already been redeemed. Maybe more than 1 million people already sign up Im guessing.

In line with yesterday's announcement, Apple today made available a pre-release version of OS X Yosemite to consumers who signed up for the company's OS X public beta program. Public beta program members can access promo codes through the beta program website that allow them to download Yosemite from the Mac App Store for free.

Early reviews of the pre-release build are favorable, with several reviewers noting improvements in Safari, Messaging and Notifications. Notably missing from the beta, however, are the highly anticipated Continuity features that allow for the integration of OS X with an iPhone or iPad running iOS 8, as only Yosemite is included in the program.

To sign up for the beta program, users must have a Mac running OS X Mavericks and need to register with an Apple ID on [url="

No, if you can log in to get to the page where the code is, you're in...it's just a bug. They'll sort it out.

I have a Time Machine Backup. I stopped anymore TM backups from this point on and I will install this over my existing Mavericks installation. If it doesn't work out, I'll restore to Mavericks.
