I'm trying to figure this out...

I'm already a developer and been using the OS for awhile, but I'm unsure what I need to do. I went to my dev account and checked updates through the Mac App Store and got nothing there. Would I have to wait? Or can I just download this beta through the public beta program?

Remember, you can still sign up with an alternative Apple ID and get a new code instantly. That's what I did, and it worked like a charm :)

Thanks! As simple as it is I don't think I would've thought if that.

One hour to go!

I want to install it on a partition of an external drive, is it the same procedure as with Mavericks?

Downloading :)

I had issues at first, but then just quit and reopened the app store and voila!

34 min to go! :) Installing on my main daily machine - not too worried about any major crashes (have a backup just in case though).

Am I not installing it over the current system, and then just updating it periodically as the updates come out all the way to the GM and Final Release?

I would not recommend doing this, install on a second drive or partition where you wont run the risk of losing your data.

This public beta should be the same as the Developer releases. In fact developer releases will get more updates than the public beta releases, so you should be using the developer releases in my opinion.

For the first time ever my MacBook Pro (newest model) made a loud fan-spinning sound when installing! Did this happen to anyone else?

where is my code...I signed up back when first made available, supposedly getting an email with code???????????

I signed in to mac app store, nothing there.

Got it installed with no problems.

Wow it's the same but so different haha.

So far so good!

Edit: !WARNING! Looks like it erases all your previous iMessages incase you were holding onto any of them.

Edit 2: Looks like the iMessage files are still there but are not compatible with the new iMessage. All previous attachments are saved also.

Code alredy redeemed

If you're having this issue go to the Mac App Store and see if it is already in your purchased apps!

Go to the AppleSeed site. But good luck, cause Apple royally screwed up the redemption codes. If yours work then have fun with Yosemite

My download has stopped many times, eventually just showing an error: OS X Yosemite Beta failed to download. Use the Purchases page to try again. It appears to download over half the install package, and then craps out.

I have the Dev release, and in this case the public is actually newer. The public is 14A299L, and the current Dev is 14A298i

I'm sure that will change soon, but for now...

I'm all backed up and the download is moving swiftly! I'm positively vibrating with excitement! Can't wait to experience the next generation of Mac OS with my own eyes!
