Ok I just got off the phone with Apple....

I talked to two guys, the first one did not help, but actually re-directed my call to Tech-Support:rolleyes:

The second guy didn't have a clue about the "long form that needs validated by Apple". After I explained everything and asked if I could be transferred to sales to get an activation code, the representative told me that it was not possible.

He then put me on hold then told me that there is a back-log of about 2 days worth of claims that Apple still needs to go through and that we wouldn't get a code for about a couple of days.

Oh and he also told me if I don't get a code within 2 days that I should submit another claim

-------

Honestly, this is really frustrating. I thought Apple was known for it's great customer support.

I finally got through and redeemed the code.

Unfortunately, now I'm stuck at a 0%, waiting, Lion OS X installing message for the past hour.

I just tried cancelling it, and was unable to do so without restarting my computer. This lead to another "waiting" message as I started the install once more.

At least you got a redeem code.:apple:

For all of you that are actually getting codes to redeem your copy, are you being prompted for a credit / debit card too? I am getting the eligible message, saying I can get a code, but it says total is 0.00$ and then asking me for a credit / debit card.. but no matter what I enter, it's giving me an invalid message upon trying to submit.. (ive used 2 credit cards).

Here's how I fixed the "Waiting..." problem. I restarted the Mac so the download isn't in the Dock. I then deleted the /Library/Caches/com.apple.itunesstored folder. Lion then downloaded without a problem.

Yea, I got through on the short form just now as well. I would recommend you keep trying that every so often. I did the long form forever, finally got through last night, still haven't received an email with my code -- but the short form worked...go figure.

D/Ling now.

UPDATE: Oh, had the "Waiting......." problem too. Tried to right-click and "cancel" but that didn't work. Just grabbed the icon from the dock and lifted it out. Poof. Then went back to the App Store and restarted the download. After a few dozen clicks, it finally started. About 1GB d/led so far. About 20 min in or so. Still saying about an 1 1/2hr to finish, but who knows?

Finally, I can stop complaining about not having Lion and start complaining about all the things I don't like about it. Heh.

YESSSSSS! Finally! I have been attempting the short form since 8:45 yesterday morning... I must have tried it a hundred time yesterday. I tried this morning around 10am and no luck. I was out all day, I just got home and tried it, and lo and behold, on the first try, got it, the redeem code and all! Downloading now... there is hope. Just keep trying!

I got that too... total of $0.00

When I signed in using my Apple ID, it automatically brought up my current billing info... My debit card went through fine, and I got a receipt with my redeem code on it... I would make sure that you use the same card you bought the mac with (not sure if this will make a difference or not)

Apple rep stated it could take up to 10 days to get approval if you had to submit long form for redeem code. However, since you can install lion on any Mac you have authorized with your Apple ID just make sure you are signed into the App store with the ID that you bought Lion with and install it on as many Macs as you have authorizations...only helps if you are like me and recently bought 2 comps and had one redeem code work and the other go long form.

If it gets stuck or says OSX Lion...Waiting go to "store" in the top menu and select "check for unfinished downloads".

I can't access purchased tab at the moment to download lion, though neither can the apple represntative I'm talking to.

So much for the e-mailed code, i think it goes by the same server

Long form: No replies
Short form: Still broken in Canada

I did wanted to, but i went to the underdog way...
I will reinstall with a proper copy when I get it.

Not that i encourage to grab a to***nt, but it might be the fastest way until reinstalling with the one from the :apple: App Store...

I'm on the same page as everyone else. Bought a MBP in June online, spoke with customer service an hour ago. My guy was also real nice, he was aware of the issue, had me try a couple of things (like use "Online Apple Store" as the place of purchase) but still no dice. He said there was nothing they could do, and that it should be working in a few hours, but told me to call back later for an update if it wasn't.

Same thing here. Its been two days for me since i got the claim reference email and I still haven't gotten the promo code. I was talking to a person yesterday and told me to call back again today if I didn't get it. So I'll wait till afternoon. This is not fair since other people got their promo code right away!

Apple has really dropped the ball on this one. No one at Apple seems to have a solution besides filling out the long form and waiting for a reply. Its been two days and I have received nothing. The short form still does not work and I have tried at all hours of the day, even trying it by waking up this morning at 3:30am to see if I could get the short form to work. I am usually fairly patient, but since I have off of work this weekend it would have been nice to play around with it.

I have been waiting and its has been more than 36 hours

I had an issue with not being able to use the Up-to-Date program. I have a customized MBP I ordered from the online store. I kept getting errors like my serial number not being found and even got one saying it was ineligible. Last night, it seems like Apple got things fixed for me and it just all of a sudden worked. I'm not happily posting from Lion. :)

I had the same experience here too. I have a customized MBP that I ordered online. On the first day it didn't recognize my serial number at all. But somehow yesterday it magically got accepted.

New problem! Apple charged me $1 for this up-to-date program while the transaction was suppose to be $0.00. The creditcard company called me today because they think my creditcard has been compromised.

Did anyone else get charged for $1 by apple?

This is to verify the validity of the credit card. It should be mentionned in the TOS before you agree. It's cheap, but that is the way to prevent abuse...

Ok my bad then. I never read the TOS anyway.

Isn't it ironic though that apple charges me $1 to prevent abuse. Yet my creditcard company scans for $1 transactions to prevent abuse too!

And now I can't use my creditcard until I get a new one.

It might be the servers are just overloaded with requests still.
My order just went through with no problems using the same card I did for the original purchase.

I have not read the entire thread

But my serial number did not work (MacBook Pro purchased on July 5) and I paid the 29.99 for Lion. I used express lane to talk to a representative and they credited my debit card on file for the cost plus tax. They said it should take 3-5 business days to complete the transaction. Even though I used an iTunes credit ($100 back to school), they said I would get the credit on my card on file :D

Good Luck to all of You
