We will send your App Code by email once your claim has been validated.

Please make a note of your Claim Reference: 773-760-349-001

Kind regards,

Apple."

that was at 8:35am. its now 9:50PST...and of course still no email.

Same here but I went through the other online store method and got it that way a little later on.

What do I put for "place of purchase" (namely City and State) on the short form if I ordered my Mac from the online Apple store? Cupertino, CA? :)

How much longer we need to wait???

How much longer we need to wait.............:(

Its been 13 hours since i recieved the Claim Email with the claim reference number....

Come on Apple....... i m losing the patience

I would assume your address. If you bought from the Apple Online Store, they shouldn't need to check that. The serial number will be what they really need.

OK, just called Apple Customer support. It seemed they change their politics, they gave me an activation code via the sales departement, it should be e-mailed soon. :)

So, my advice would be to call them and say you've been trying since yesterday 8:30 AM... They should gave you an activation code two.

I called Apple Customer Care .... They told me to wait for some time. They are not sure how much time???.........

Between myself and a friend we called three times yesterday and spoke to several people. She was told by one that it would be a few hours (that was almost 17 hrs ago!). I was told they knew it was a problem but had no estimate and then then last person I spoke to was clueless and said they had no idea there was a problem and that it's really not a big deal because we have a month to upgrade.

I'm about two hours away from the 24 hour limit to receive the validation and starting to get pissed because I haven't received anything yet.

Same here. All I can say is I'm glad I didn't take yesterday off to do this; being without Lion all day and missing a pay day would have put me over the edge!

I'm currently on hold with customer service. Talked to a guy named John, who was very nice btw, but who also didn't have the slightest clue what was going on. He tried to get me to fill out the long form again from the up-to-date site, but mistakenly told me to use the "server" section instead of the normal lion section. I corrected him and quickly decided Apple isn't on the ball with this one. And besides, I've already gotten through the long form and have a claim reference number. Still haven't received my d/l code though. Ugh.

So then I asked, politely, to speak to his supervisor because I was getting upset and it's obviously not his fault (no need for him to receive my vitriol).

And I've been on hold waiting for someone for about 45 minutes. John was popping back on every so often to give me updates -- "Our system is receiving a lot of calls right now." etc etc etc...But he hasn't been back on in about fifteen minutes now.

Oh wait, now he's come back and asked if I'd still like to wait. I'm done, man. I have a reference number and can call back later. Apple really dropped the ball on this.

Anyone else having any luck?

I called yesterday Uk filled in the form to get the email validation code sent a pic of my email receipt (ordered from apple uk online) i ws told it would take 24 hours well 26 hours and nothing. There's not alot i can do but wait its frustrating though

Spent 40 minutes on the phone with them this morning. The guy who I worked with was very nice and put me on a hold several times to talk to supervisors and other people trying to get me a code, but couldn't give me anything. He said a manager tried to manually "escalate my serial number" to push it through and to try in 45 minutes. That was 3 hours ago and still nothing.

At least you got the long form to work....I can't even get that to go through :(

I'm on the same page as everyone else. Bought a MBP in June online, spoke with customer service an hour ago. My guy was also real nice, he was aware of the issue, had me try a couple of things (like use "Online Apple Store" as the place of purchase) but still no dice. He said there was nothing they could do, and that it should be working in a few hours, but told me to call back later for an update if it wasn't.

Oh the long form finally worked!!! Whoohoo...progress!! Before it was saying my serial number was invalid on that page as well, but this time it processed through! :D

I got this to work, though the interface was a bit odd.

Place of purchase: I put "online store" and when it forced me to fill in city/state I just put "Cupertino, CA". (Though actually Apple, Inc has official offices elsewhere for tax reasons, but close enough.)

Entered date of purchase, copy-pasted serial number, then got to some screen telling me to go the Mac App Store and enter a download code. After a few moments of confusion I found the download code in small font on that same page, then copy-pasted it over to the Mac App Store (Click "Categories", then in the Quick Links on the left click "Redeem", then paste code in the box.)

I didn't read all the posts in this forum, so maybe people are having other problems, but this worked for me.

Just called Apple (for the 3rd time...) The guy I talked to said that the server went down because of the number of requests (BS if you ask me... they can host thousands downloading Lion but a couple hundred requesting their free copy puts the server over the edge??). I asked when they thought the server would be up and running again and he said that they had no definite time frame, but hopefully by Monday...

Basically told me not to worry because it would be up and running ASAP and I would get my copy... I told him I wanted my copy yesterday at 6:30 when it came out

Pretty sure that stuff (location, etc) is irrelevant. I tried what you said though (can you smell the desperation?). No dice.

I guess we could start taking bets on how long this takes now that we have our claims in and are waiting for codes to be emailed out.

I'm betting its not until tomorrow, at the earliest. Pessimism abounds.

You're lucky you can get a claim in... my serial number won't work on the short or the long form!! And I am so sick of Apple customer service telling me it will get fixed when it gets fixed... I want my Lion!!! In fact, I wanted it yesterday...
:mad::mad::mad:

Still waiting for my code in the email:rolleyes:

Its been almost over 24hours now.

I guess I'll have to call Apple to see whats going on. This is ridiculous

I'll post the result of the call on this thread.

I know it sounds like a cop out, but keep trying the long form. I did it maybe twenty or so times yesterday and then suddenly last night at 3:30am, it acknowledged my serial number.

You never know when it'll work. I was thoroughly surprised.

I know that's little comfort, but what else are we gonna do?

FINALLY!!! Just tried the short form again and it worked!!! Automatically gave me a redemption code with my receipt... Time to get my Lion :)
