They will talk about their new bail bonds service for people who steal prototype equipment. They will also announce the cancellation of 10.7. 10.7 will be replaced by XI (Space Marmot). Apple will be moving on to XI because they have ran out of big cats. releases of XI will be named after fictional animals like unicorns and users who liked Vista.

OS XI will be the first Apple operating system that requires the user to enter a registration number. XI 1.0 will operate without registration, however the background will automatically be set to a Steve Jobs swimsuit calendar.

Apple expects 100% compliance with their new registration policy.

I know this is a joke, but I don't see why people think Mac OS 11 will be XI. It's not like Mac OS 9 was Mac OS IX or like Mac OS 8 was Mac OS XIII.

I hope that somebody is going to create a nice bingo template this time again? Are there any out there yet?

Being a loyal apple consumer for the last 4 years (MB, Imac, Iphone, Iphone3g), Apple really has to impress me with their new Iphone. If not I'm switching to an EVO 4G.

Don't let me down Apple!

Please a new version of ilife suite and iwork .

Those are consumer products, so that's doubtful unless they leverage some new APIs or technologies for developers.

I'm going to play it safe and say the keynote will go something like this:

1. Steve on awesome Apple is doing; brag about iPad sales
2. A good amount of time on Safari 5. Demoing HTML5 stuff, new plugin support w/ approval process, developers Apple asked to make some cool HTML 5 websites and plugins which they demo. Public Beta released.
3. "Now, on to iPhone OS." Rehash of iPhone OS 4. GM released that day.
4. Demo of OS 4 on iPad. Specific new features––Account support, new springboard, and perhaps a better way of managing files. Beta released to developers.
5. Something new with MobileMe. New features, or at least a different pricing structure--free sync, and paid email/storage.
6. iPhone HD. Preorder now, available the 18th. Steve and Schiller demo video chat for way too long. Comes with a free year of the full MobileMe.

The only other thing I could potentially see happening is a MacPro update, and this would only happen with a significant redesign.

Steve announced Snow Leopard 10.6 three weeks before 10.5.4 was released, and it's looking like 10.6.4 will be released within a few weeks. I don't see why 10.7 wouldn't be announced at WWDC.

And Steve said "You won't be disappointed", even after the Gizmodo incident, so lets expect a lot more than iPhone OS 4 :)

What do you expect him to say after the new iPhone was leaked, photographed and torn apart ? "Hey we have some average stuff to show you today. And it's "typical. You will be underwhelmed ".

Mac OS 8 would've been VIII </pedant>
Whoops, typing a lot of roman numerals sure can get to you.

But they came before OS X, and before the branding, so how could they know?
Yeah, but I still think X will be the last of its kind. 11 is a lot more consistent than XI but who knows at this point. I just want people to stop saying Mac OS "ex".

Apple TV + iPhone 4 = Games Console

Pippin lives! If Apple run their up coming Apple TV on the iPhone OS then it becomes a de facto games machine, almost for free, for Apple, withan absolutly massive library of titles. No wonder the console makers are worried by Apple. Apples skunk tablet will prove to be one of their biggest coups. It is almost as if they had planned the whole thing in it's entirety. The iPhone has been a phenominal trojan horse making this possible.

That's pretty optimistic. Using your iphone to play games while on the road is one thing. Playing iphone games on your tv is another. I think the experience would be pretty underwhelming.

Apple may be making a crack at the hand-held market, but not the home console market.

If Apple introduced an Apple TV based off the iPad's version of iPhone OS 4 it won't be out until September since the 4.0 for iPad won't be out till fall.

Why does Apple need to redesign the mac pro? It's awesome the way it is. Redesign just for sake of a redesign is foolish.

That said, I would expect a silent Mac Pro update.

I agree. I think the case is still beautiful. But come on already! Please update the Mac Pro. Waiting until September would be difficult.

Obviously it wouldn't be a redesign "just for the sake of it."

The case (the outside of it) has been unchanged since 2003. I'm sure Apple could bring some great new innovative things to the table now that it's 2010.

I was thinking the same until I looked at Sprint's plans and coverage especially 4G. Pretty ****** in my opinion, at least for me.

True, just like playing iPhone games on the iPad is less than optimal. But think about all those developers with experience on the iPhone OS platform, and all the games they have cranked out for the iPhone and have updated for the iPad. It would take very little to produce ever more complex and graphically polished games for a TV-oriented device. While I don't know if this move by Apple would ultimately be successful, it seems like a brilliant strategy to me, as it massively leverages current developer strengths in an entirely new context.

And imagine using an iPhone or Touch as the primary controller -- you now have Wii-like motion controls, along with a controller that can literally create whatever game control interface you want. The potential is massive.

I'm sure they could. The question is: does Apple care any more about desktops?

Yes, if they want to keep making money.

Aside from consumers, you have development houses using Mac Pro's. I know of one company that has all their hundred or so employees using Mac Pro's.

With Google ditching Microsoft for Linux and migrating to Apple, I'm sure they'd be fairly interested in using Mac Pro's rather than iMac's.

I've been desperately waiting for a MacPro refresh for months! Although i probably don't need THAT much power for recording, I do need the expansion capabilities for all my hard drives. I ended up building a Hackintosh in the meantime 'cause I sure as hell wasn't about to spend $4000+ on a machine that was gonna get get refreshed in a month or two. With an extra CPU/parts lying around, the build cost me under $700. Hell, I paid more for the iPad (hers).

What's taking so long?

BTW, long time reader, first post ever. Hi =) Finally threw in my $0.02
