i have been unhappy with otterbox quality - my defender for my 4s would not stay together (rubber got way loose ) and the defender for my i5 is totally unsatisfactory- the phone rattles around in the case so bad that it is unusable- their customer service ignored my emails - Otterbox is not what it used to be which is too bad...

I had issues with the Defender for the iPhone 4. But that was probably a knock off because the outer rubber portion of that case became loose after a few weeks of use.

I purchased one straight from Best Buy (I really needed a case at the time) and the rubber was very strong and doesn't attract a lot of lint like the possible knock off that I got from Amazon.

The clip that props up the holster as a stand was very weak. That's the only downfall of the iPhone 4 case that I had.

I didn't have any issues with the Defender case for the iPhone 5 either. No rattling, no scratches on my phone, and the outer rubber portion of the case is very strong and durable. It has not attracted any lint and I have used it since day one.

So far I'm very satisfied with this Armor case. Pictures have been perfect, no water leaking in, and the port covers are still in great condition.

HiTRisk, any dirt showing yet on the neon plastic port covers? Do they get easier to open after a while? I just saw someone crying about dirt or discoloration on these port covers.

Lightening to 30 Pin Connecter Adapter?

Has anyone else purchased the Otterbox Armor Case and tried to use it with the Apple Lightening to 30 Pin Connector? I tried to use it today in my car and it wouldnt work, so i thought it was the case...but then the regular cord that is lightening to USB to charge worked...I cant imagine that apple would make the lightening port two different sizes??? Am i the only one having this issue???

There are other posts in this thread saying people have that issue. Otterbox didn't make the opening big enough for the port adapter you're talking about.

Okay, so it's now Thursday, and I got my white Armor case on Monday. I'll give a quick review

The case is a beast, it's heavy, but actually not as heavy as I was thinking and the thickness isn't too bad at all. I did pop the phone out last night and was like wow I almost forgot how lite this phone actually is haha but I like being able to be somewhat carefree with the phone now

The port covers are a little hard to get out but that makes me feel better about the, not just popping out on their own.

One thing I don't like and it's probably that I can be OCD about things is that sometimes the case doesn't look symmetrical, like its outta line and I don't like that the case back is raised but I can live with that.

I did drop the phone the other day, I'm 6'2 and it was from chest height. I do believe it fell face down, and this case kept right on going, not even a scratch on the case and believe me I looked it over good.

I had the Obex and the Lifeproof and so far the audio quality seems to be holding up better (call and playing music/games). The Obex started out great but seemed to get worse over time, which sucks cause I bought the holster lol. I may have also just let my mind think the audio was bad OCD remember

So far the Armor has lived up to the hype for me and I'll continue with this one until it doesn't work for me anymore.

I really wanted to try the Atlas and Griffin/Catalyst over this case but with all the push backs I have to feel those cases may not be up to par. Otterbox got their product out and it works for me. I might be willing to go with something lighter if the other two cases have amazing reviews. We'll see!

Hooterville:

Plz test and compare with LifeProof. Which one can hear music/sound few ft under water (without headphone adapter)? Specs: waterproof 6.6 ft/2M (30 minutes).

Thx!

and the winner is...

Crush Proof = mowing? (one of the real tests for us is mowing besides 2-ton crush)

We have Otterbox Defender, Otterbox Commuter, and LifeProof (all 3 new colored cases) for iPhone 5's

trash compactor & bulldozer for crush proof...

Sorry for the late response. I rarely check this forum. :p

Anyway the plastic port covers have no discoloration whatsoever. Keep in mind I don't go swimming every day (just weekends) or take the phone with me to the shower lol. If I do go to the beach, my phone usually stays with my gear in the sand. Rarely do I have the phone in water anyway. It's just a peace of mind that it's waterproof. I really like how durable the case is so far and the fact it's dustproof is a huge plus for me while at work.

Nice review.

I played with the lifeproof case and probably had to return 5 of them cause of all the issues. Got my first armor series case and it doesn't have a single issue aside from it being kind of big. But I think the trade off is worth it, being no issues and gives me peace of mind I'm not scratching it or getting water on it.

trash compactor & bulldozer for crush proof...

Your post doesn't make sense to me, trash compactor & bulldozer for crush proof?

And I doubt you'd be able to water from the LifeProof or Armor a few feet under water.

The test that amazed me was the kid who drove over the Armor with a car.

this case is working our great for me. on a construction site my defender would always get sand dirt and dust under the screen protector of the defender through all the openings in the case. so i would end up taking the case off almost daily to clean the phone off. nothing more annoying the dust under your screen protector. so far this one is keeping everything out. and so easy to take on and off for when i don't need in on the weekends when I'm not in the dirt. i actually just rinse my phone off in the sink now when i come home from work.

i had tried lifeproof cases and this is by far above and beyond what i experiences with lifeproof. plus life proof used to claim their phone was only water tight if you only took it apart less then 5 times or something? after that it wouldn't be water proof anymore? what a joke. that the horrible pillow effect and the high gloss screen protector. complete garbage come paired the this armor series

I'm pretty much done with the Armor cases. The rattling clips are enough to drive me insane. :(

If they aren't rattling when you first get the case, just give they a few days and they will start rattling to beat the band sooner or later.

Hope one case manufacturer can get this type of case right sooner rather than later. Either that or they all need better QC.

No rattles yet...had it for only a week though. They do move a bit.

Ive had it a week also and not rattling. they snap so tight with tension i don't see how they could rattle.

anyone who has rattling clips i suggest you return it and do not try the underwater test, lol

No rattling here.

I'm also patiently waiting for the Atlas!

The Griffin case is an afterthought for me lol.

Not sure what kind of rattling you guys are getting. One of the clip moves a bit but only if I shake vigorously. Still is waterproof, no problems with the display or audio which makes it a great case.

I'm not expecting much from the atlas, in their installation video you can already see oil slicks. Also to use the audio and charging port looks like a pain in the ass.

It's ok no need to defend your purchase ;) hopefully the delay let incipio get it right

Few more months after atlas is released the 5s will be out

And? not everyone buys every iphone that comes out, and if rumors and apple's past hold true the case will fit the 5 and 5s. For those of us who don't feel the need to go out and spend $600+ everytime apple releases a minor upgrade, the atlas will work fine. That and the little thing called contracts that most people are in...

There's usually small adjustments. Also given that the assembly video for the atlas has an oil slick what do you think your going to expect. And you have to unlatch the whole bottom portion of the atlas to charge or use the headphones does not look bueno.

Maybe this time you will address those concerns instead of giving an asinine comment without any substance.

Yea, I saw that oil slick right away on that first installation video of the white case. They have now changed that video to show a black Atlas and have completely left out the part showing the front of the case with the oil slicks. :)

Is that not amazing? :D

So i proved you wrong about the 5/5s change and you talk about the atlas. First the 4 cases fit the 4s and vice versa so no the changes are internal and do not affect the cases. Also unless you have used the atlas case basing it off of a video is no bueno. Not to mention an oil slick is an easy fix as shown by lifeproof case. Anything else you want to try and claim? and you call my comment asinine
