Because some people care more about keeping the phone in one piece and easily resellable than letting everyone know they have an iphone.
Unless you're going to play ball with your phone I don't think anyone needs a case that big

I took out the built-in screen protector and noticed that the case made four indentations on the screen, so I returned it. Luckily for me I had a screen protector on the actual screen so no damage was done outside of the $40 ghost armor protector going to waste.
This is why I'll not use a defender again. The stupid idea of hard plastic directly on the phone caused indentations and scratches on my iphone 4 screen.
Get an incipio dualpro. Soft layer on the INSIDE making contact with the phone, and hard plastic on the outside.

I have defenders on all of my phones and I have never had a mark on any screen![]()
The amount of money you spend on that HIDEOUS ENORMOUS case is probably more than the price differential you'll see on resale. The iPhone was designed to be used as it is, not covered up like an armored car. If you're so concerned about damage, get AppleCare+. And as far as wanting people to know I have an iPhone goes, what do you think people think when you whip out that monstrosity? They probably think, "wow, why would someone buy such a nice looking phone, only to wrap it in a tractor tire?"

I have no fit issues at all, very solid, and I'm on my second Defender for the iPhone 5. Why second? Because I just returned my first one because the rubber got damaged from the holster clip, causing it to fray pretty bad after 1 day of use. The AT&T guy told me to pull the tab over to the clip instead of pushing it in, but I shouldn't have to do that every time I clip and un clip the phone from the holster.
really ATT told me they would not take it back and I needed to go thru Otterbox..
Otterbox stated they could not help me until Oct 21st... A little lame. I noticed if you keep the screen facing out the phone goes in smoothly, but facing in it tends to catch on the clip and fray.

How do you use that case? It makes the iphone look like a brick. What's the point of Apple's hard work in making the phone slimmer when you are going to just make it look a big piece of S!?#
Look closer. It's damaging the glass.

People use cases to avoid downtime of a broken phone and being stranded in an emergency. Obviously, you've never thought of such a thing.

Try having it on you when building homes or doing demolition work. Hunting, fishing, motor cross, hiking mountain climbing. There are some people who do need it. You don't have to play ball with it. Not all iPhone users are white collar. And even white collar workers are involved in rough activities.
