Forums like this blow everything out of proportion when they generally only effect a very very small number of people. Then people get all up in arms talking about how Apple quality is garbage and how they aren't fixing some huge problem that few are truly experiencing.

Exactly. Not only that, but it's blowing an "issue" out of proportion that no one even knows what is causing it. 128GB iPhones? Large app libraries? Restored from an old iPhone backup? No one knows, but everyone instantly assumes that Apples QA department is to blame or that Apple can no longer make devices that work.
Software design is difficult. Hardware design is difficult. Put them together and what do you get?

I agree that very often the reason of these "flaws" is user error. But not always. And can it really be said that if a problem only affects a small percentage of the users then it's a small issue or not an issue at all? Yes, these articles often blow up things. But is that really a bad thing? I'm pretty sure that after the 'bend-gate' Apple's engineers instantly started to work on the modifications they should make to the 6S Plus to reduce the likelihood of this happening again.

The problem is, by focusing on this issue that only affects a small percentage of users, something other issue isn't going to get the same amount of attention because of it. Time allotted to a problem isn't infinite, so at some point you have to call it and move on.

Sites like this love to report on these things without all of the details. Coming to a forum like this and complaining won't solve the problem. Going to the Apple site and opening a ticket or going to the Apple Store and meeting with a Genius is the only way these things get fixed. If they don't have the pile of support tickets for an issue, they don't know it's widespread. They aren't coming to MacRumors and counting the number of people complaining about a problem, they're looking at their ticketing system to see where the problems are.

I wish more people understood that and went to the proper support channels instead of complaining about it on some random website and hoping the problem will be solved. Like voting, far too many assume others will do it for them and make the change happen. If 10,000 people file a support ticket for an issue, Apple sees it as a much bigger problem than if 100 people do.

Yes, it can be said it only affects a small number of people. Studies have shown that forums and the internet inflate the perceived issues. Bendgate is a great example. Everyone online makes a big deal when less than 10 people had actually experienced the problem. Same was true of the Mac mini issues. MacRumors has a thread over 50 pages long with people going on and on and on about how it's something everyone was seeing. In the end? Less than 1% of buyers saw any problems from it. It happens over and over and over.

To your comment that Bendgate may have positive outcomes for Apple, do you really think that the negative press from the Bendgate incident and everyone making fun of iPhone 6/6+ owners wasn't more detrimental than your idea that maybe it helped the engineers become aware of a problem (that Apple and others showed didn't exist in the first place)?

Why would they need to look to make the 6S+ any more beefy when it's already clear that the 6+ is fine enough as it is and the whole thing was blown far out of proportion by the media and websites just like this one?

128gb 6 Silver - Verizon - no problems, just the occasional safari window not wanting to change orientation. Have 12gb free. Lots of hi-rez music.

Except if you count build quality which is horrible for the price. But otherwise, AOK...

Are you serious? It has a really nice a soft touch back. It's not slippery or glossy like cheap plastic. Sure it's not metal, but metal does not always equal premium.

I've got a 128 GB iPhone 6 Plus (~30 GB free) and, in the past two weeks of use, have had it spontaneously crash/reboot three times. But it has always booted back up. Now I'm paranoid...

rumor indeed. I have a 6 128 GB along with a couple friends, never heard of this issue until this article.

if it ain't happenin' to me it aint nothin' but a rumor.

----------

have a 128GB 6 but it's only about 1/2 full and it's mostly music, pics, and vids -- very few (relatively speaking) apps:

Songs: 2,708
Videos: 220
Photos: 5,199
Apps: 63
Capacity: 114GB
Available: 57.7

...I go thru phases where I'll try out a bunch of apps and then will weed out ones I don't use/like. Next time I go thru that kind of phase, I'll keep an eye on this.

Thanks for sharing.

I actually have been experiencing this issue. And I have a 64gb 6+
Last night it was constantly crashing and rebooting.
I did a restart on it by holding the home button and power button. And no issues since then.

Maybe you intelligent fellows can help me out. I think maybe I'm having this issue on my 16gb Plus.

Sometimes the phone (while being used) will just completely go black and then show the Apple logo and it shows the logo for roughly 9 seconds and I'm back into iOS.

The reason I never really looked into it because it restarts very quickly and on top of that all my existing apps are still open and I don't even have to use a pass code to unlock the phone like you'd normally have to do with when you turn it off.

What do you guys think? I just assumed it was a iOS issue but if it's hardware then yeah I'd like to know.

(have had it for about a month and it's happened about 15 times, but likke i said, it happens quickly)

You describe exactly my problem on my fourth generation ipad with 64gb and ios 8.1 installed.

128gb Iphone 6 owner here, no issues whatsoever.

Only wish I had gotten the iPhone 6 plus instead.

I'll tell you what, I wish I could go back to my 4s and older iOS 5 or 6. I never thought I would say this, but I had multiple problems with all of my 5's, my 6 isn't all what it is cracked up to be, ios is horrid ever since the gym of 7 for me.

I miss when my apple products just worked! I feel like I could have gotten more options somewhere else for cheaper and had the same amount of headaches as I do now .

Anyway, I experience crashes on my 6 frequently. Mostly so when I plug into my head unit and launch pandora. It hasn't worked since I got the phone. Just shows the apple log until I unplug and then respeings. Plug back in and back to the apple logo. A $900 phone should not give me as many issues as this does.
Build quality was not exactly exquisite either for the price I paid
/end rant

My i6 recently started crashing. It'll first freeze up, then a black screen with the white apple logo will appear and after a few seconds it'll automatically reboot itself and bring me back to my home page. Very annoying!

info, thks

128GB Space Grey iPhone 6 plus with no issues. (75% full)

Please, let me know: how many Apps are you using on your phone?

Unfortunately I've the same identical problem. To avoid it, I had delete just about 300 Apps and more...

I had installed just about 1.000 Apps before the 'disaster'. Now I have had to come back at about 650...:(

Do you really use 1,000 apps on your iPhone? Or even 650? Just curious how you even know what's on there. What would necessitate having that many apps in the first place?

iPhone is a spectacular device. And also Apple Store is a great service, very well organized. I continuosly experiment new Apps, which I download every day frequently using the several App Free service; and many other App of my particular interest I have purchased directly.
When Apple put on the market a device with 128 Gigabytes of memory I decided soon to upgrade, leaving my old device iPhone 5 with "only" 64 Gb, with its memory almost full. I would never upgraded my dotation with a similar device with the same amount of memory. For me a giant screen is certainly important, but not indispensable.

I have this issue too. My phone restarts itself about once a day. I have 20 GB free.

Music playing on my phone also breaks up when I switch apps. They really did a terrible job with this.

My 128 6+ started freezing last week. I just figured that another update will fix the problem. Now when I view artists in iTunes and I tap the letters on the right side to jump down none work except below letter T. If I tap any above that then the list jumps to the top. Sync has become hit or miss, song count is way off. Phone locks up and gets hot. I contacted online support, did the email diagnostic procedure. No questions or even try this, just let's make a Genius appointment or express exchange whichever is more convenient. Love Apple customer service!!

I have had my 6+ 6GB replaced at the genius bar last night.

1 phone was in stock. I was told that I had a hardware error.

Shiny new phone, the home button feels nice and clicky in this phone.
