Ipad 2 Mini - looping issues

Hi all,

Last week I had this weird looping issue on my iPad Mini 2 in iOS 8.1, I had this ipad for a year, never seen it till I updated this new update and it would happen when I use Safari browser, it would crash and the screen would go blank in black then white with apple logo. Heres my video of what was happening.

Thanks,

Just wanted to confirm that this is not just some rumor, it happened to me. I'm on my 2nd iPhone 6 128gb in one month. At the time it happened I had just updated to ios8.1 and the phone was rendered useless because the device was stuck in recovery mode. I also did not have more than 24 gigs used on the device. Luckily I was still under warranty when it all happened!

Doesn't actually sound like the same issue. These aren't crashing into recovery but constantly rebooting.

----------

Happened to my iPhone 6, 64GB. Not too many apps.

First symptom was blue screen, followed by boot cycle. Occasionally a red screen too.

Returned to the store. They didn't seem to have experienced many cases, but were happy to swap it for another unit (when one came into stock).

Likely not the same issue. The 128gb phones sound like a software crash issue. Yours sounds like a board crash which would be hardware

----------

128GB owner here, never have had this issue.

Is it not more reasonable to assume this is an isolated issue to select iPhone 6 models? A bad batch of NAND flash?

Bad batch of Flash doesn't explain why it only seems to happen to units with large libraries. No one with only stock apps or say less than 50 on a 128gb has reported the same issue

----------

No, calling attention to it on Apple's discussion forums helps bring the issue to public attention.

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/6550902?start=0&tstart=0

There's PLENTY of discussion about this issue here. Don't be upset that MR decided to write an article about a trending issue. It's all about calling attention to it, not hiding it.

More like creating FUD. There is always a ton of replies on those boards but when you look closely typically there are few actual occurancies and they always seem loathe to contact apple via the proper channels

I have a 6+/64G . There have been some strange behaviors which I did not encounter before. For whatever it is worth, here are two

1) From the offiical twitter client, touched a Reddit web link. iPhone rebooted. That was very disocrienting

2) A minor one, when I entered a search term in the spotlight search, nothing came up. I was just searching for 'instapaper'. I have a lot of stuff with insta this and insta that and they all usually pop in there. But nothing. I hit search, still nothing. I then went to do something else and a minute later the problem fixed itself (no reboot)

These may not be unique to the 6+ but I have never experienced this before.

Lets See

3187 songs, 92 videos, 1360 photos, 163 applications, 53 gig still available.

The only thing I ran into an issue with was certain things being played in music player would crash the music player app.

It was the same song too. I deleted the song, transferred it back from my Mac and then things were ok.

I'll keep an eye on it though.

128GB iP6+, 25% storage left. I have close to 500 Apps. No issues.

Most probably people who had their iPhone crash/boot loop have buggy Apps or jailbreak goes wrong. There are many reasons that are not related to Apple at all. Just because it's iPhone, everyone jumps to gun Apple.

I have this "boot loop" issue on my new 128GB iPad Air 2.

Basically, it doesn't charge beyond 2% and shuts down, starts again because it's connected to the USB charger. Repeat.

I luckily managed to be very quick with disabling 'Find My iPad' (at 2% charge) and returning this device.

If it's anything like a bootloop I'd had with my old Android, it'll be because it ran out of RAM.

I remember when I'd modded my Note 3 and I'd started pushing the envelope. If I tried to put too many tweaks, it would tell me that it crashed. Adb exploration would show me a fully taxed memory system.

I'm wondering if having a bunch of apps may be overdrawing the resources on the 6?

It's sad that they can't just "Re-flash" the OS. I feel badly for anyone stuck with a brick they can't recover.

Oh Lawd I just had a thought. What if this man came out finally and did so because Apple is beginning to suck and he and the rest can say "bigots are trying to ruin apple because it's an abomination ran company " I mean let's be real some minority group play that card well and I am a black atheist transgender

Can they up the ram with a software update ? That is the most stupidest thing ever not to bump it to 2 gig

iPhone 6/6+ uses Samsung TLC+ Controller ?

That's very interesting. TLC has its cons but how could it lead to reboot loop? The controller has been tested before it comes to market, so a firmware release should fix the problem!:apple:

My iPhone 6 128 GB keeps freezing past week all the time! I am really annoyed.

Go the the Apple store and get it looked at. See, its simple. Or, if its truly the apps, uninstall a 100 of the smallest ones... Since you paid for them, you can download them again later.

My iPhone 6 plus 128 crashes quite regularly. But then, so did my 4S. It usually happens when I launch a complex application (such as a GPS) or when I try to do too many things at once. And my iPad 3 crashes and has boot loops (I need to plug it to boot it). So I thought it was more a feature of recent iOS versions than a specific problem with the 6...

No issue like that with mine at this point.

It's MacRumors. This forum always make issues appear MUCH larger than they actually are. Most likely it's about 20 people complaining of the issue and they'll make it out to be "a large percentage" of users.

Yeah, but still it can be a huge and disappointing issue for the ones who suffer from it. For example there are thousands of people out there whose iP5's camera lens became junk because of the "purple spots" flaw (tiny purple spots mysteriously appearing on the lens after the warranty period expired, you can only get rid of them by replacing the whole lens). Not to mention the power button problem, but at least that one was acknowledged and they issued a replacement program (which was long overdue, a lot of people had to replace the button themselves until that point). I've had both of these problems with my iPhone 5, actually I still have the faulty camera lens which renders all of my pictures somewhat defective.

So yeah, it's very convenient to say "I've never had any problems with my [insert product name here]". I've also been one of those people who had the luxury to say this for a long time. Like I've never ever had any Wi-Fi issues with my MBA, not even with Yosemite. But when suddenly you have a problem and you realize that you belong to the minority and all you get from the people around you is "I don't know what you're doing, mine is perfect", that can get quite distressing. So I think it's very important that MacRumors highlights every tiny complaint, because even this way I'm sure a lot of people get hopelessly abandoned with their problem in the vast sea of Apple Support Communities threads.

iPhone plus 64GB also crash

I've noticed people complaining about that, I'm extremely happy to get a 64B model. Mostly for the cost, but now for this possible issue.

Don't be happy too soon, mine crashed just after the update to 8.1!
Here wat i have tried to restore.
I'm still waiting for a new one 4 twoo weeks now, and on Apple website this model will be available in 3-4 weeks

Started with a restore from iCloud on ios 8.0. No specific problem

It started with iOs8.1, as soon as the update was installed, blue screen and crash

The it went worse

-Blue screen

-reboot

-no data connection

-unable to switch off the phone

-WiFi greyed out

-impossible to make calls (the phone stays in call, only an hard reset make it possible to close the call)

-...

The phone was just able to send some text messages, and this not always.

What i've tried to solve this:

-Restore as new with iCloud backup

-Restore as new without backup

-DFU to 8.0

-Removed ipws files from computer and dowloaded new to be shure there was no file corrupted (8.1)

-Called Apple helpdesk

-The told me to send back my phone and they would send me a new one

-Still waiting 4 the new one ....

I hope the new one will not have this issue

It's a nightmare!

After I bought the new iPhone 6 Plus I continuosly experimenting the problem issued in this description. I'd to delete about 400 Apps from my original level which was 1000. If I have to delete Apps what can I do with 128 Gigabytes?
:(

I luckily managed to be very quick with disabling 'Find My iPad' (at 2% charge) and returning this device.

If you go to www.icloud.com, log in and use the "Find my iPhone" app on that, you can remove any device associated to your account. Doesn't have to be done on the device itself. If you take a device to Apple that doesn't boot, they will make you do this on their computer to verify it is no longer tied to your account.

1000 apps? Good lord, I thought my 100 was a lot.

The issue is that MacRumors makes issues look like they're much much more widespread than they really are. Bendgate made it look like everyone was having problems with their phone bending. The 2012 Mac mini issues looked like a huge common problem based on what people said on this forum when in reality less than 1% of owners saw any issues. Same will be true of this. Less than 1% of users are seeing issues.

Forums like this blow everything out of proportion when they generally only effect a very very small number of people. Then people get all up in arms talking about how Apple quality is garbage and how they aren't fixing some huge problem that few are truly experiencing.

Exactly. Not only that, but it's blowing an "issue" out of proportion that no one even knows what is causing it. 128GB iPhones? Large app libraries? Restored from an old iPhone backup? No one knows, but everyone instantly assumes that Apples QA department is to blame or that Apple can no longer make devices that work.
Software design is difficult. Hardware design is difficult. Put them together and what do you get?
