i skipped the pregame show, i always thought fox put more effort into that than their actual game coverage...i seriously think the game should start at 7:55, no later. i guess fox wants to beat the late show in the ratings rather than putting the game on at a decent hour.

I hated that the NBA finals started at 9:30. I had to work every weekday morning after games.

And once again, this series has two East coast teams, and yet they insist on a post-8pm start time.

they insist that they beat out the late night shows in the ratings war. this game should have started (as in actual play) between 7:30-8. saturday games should start around 5, so we have day games in the world series.

The reason they don't have day games is because there are no ratings in that. They can't charge big money for a day game and Saturday is a bad TV day as it is.

i would argue that for saturdays, it's probably better ratings to put the game on in the late afternoon-early evening hours (start time of around 5 pm) rather than saturday night, because more people are out on saturday nights as opposed to the afternoon, when most of them are still at home.

i have a question though, does fox intentionally want the newspapers to miss their midnight deadlines for world series games? anyone know why they like their games ending at midnight?

Well, some of us on the West Coast would like to be able to watch the WS and work at the same time :)

/Go Phils!

I don't think the Ref knew what a balk was....

Of course, I'm not even sure if I spelled it right, but our Carlos Pena was robbed! Looks like the Rays will have to win the next one. They have a way of pulling it out of their butts when they have to.

BTW... Backstreet Boys?? Boys??? Really???

Go Rays!

I have to agree it's nice to come home and only be in the 2nd inning and be able to watch the game. Seems obvious to me.

what happened to dvr and the such? surfing until sunset then starting the game behind and then eventually catching up to live play by the end of the game sounds good to me. i can say this because i used to live on the west coast for a few years and i would rather watch my regular programming at nights instead of having the world series screw up my tv nights.

Good point. You can DVR the game and watch it the next morning! :)

I do this all the time with sports broadcasts. Since I usually don't have three hours to spend on baseball or basketball games, I watch the recorded broadcast and fast-forward through commercials and sometimes between plays.

Advantages: avoid most annoying announcer talk, saves a lot of time, replay as many times as you want.

Disadvantages: I often have to record one or two shows that come on after the game to make sure I see the ending if the game runs long. Occasionally the game runs so long that I miss the ending altogether. Also, sometimes I accidentally find out the final score of the game before I get a chance to watch it.

Interestingly, people complain about how little action baseball games have compared to football, but I've found that if you scan through all the times when nothing is happening, it's a similar amount of action for both sports.

I have never understood peoples perception of baseball. In the post season you live and die with every pitch. I think it has a lot more drama than other sports.

I really only follow baseball, but occasionally I'm subjected to a football or basketball game and find myself wondering each time how anyone can say that they are more exciting to watch. Granted some of the action in a baseball game is more subtle, but it seems to me in basketball and football, you get your bursts of action, but most of the game time is occupied with players milling around the court or field during a time-out.

IJ..

I see your point, however some look at baseball as just the same. Waiting for the pitcher to pitch... waiting for the batter etc........ Don't get me wrong I like baseball, but I find the other two sports along with hockey a little more entertaining to watch. Especially if it is on tv. However I love going to the ballpark more then going to a football or basketball game, to me, it can't be beat. But baseball, others will agree and disagree, is just as mundane and lacking of excitement as the others.

Very nice game last night by the way.

Oh I dvr'd it no question so I could see it start to finish. Problem is, the sun rises and sets with the west coast so programming is set based on our needs/desires.

Am I the only one who actually kinda enjoyed the Backstreet Boys anthem? :p

It was different, which is always good and it was kinda good sounding.

Sorry I'm tired of the same old off pitch singing by some past singer in the 80's.

Don't get me wrong, the Backstreet Boys were terrible in all of their albums, but I kinda liked that rendition. I think it is just because they have a bad reputation (deserving of it) that most people didn't like it, I dunno.
