I would never have thought that apple would be using "cheap plastic" casings on their upcoming phones... time sure have changed.

First, Apple introduces us to the more affordable 5C. Then, the 5S. Finally (in my dreams), Apple introduces us to the new flagship model, the iPhone 6 with larger screen. The media present at the announcement go nuts. Tim Cook smiles, knowing everyone was caught off guard by the announcement. AAPL begins its climb to go knocking on Google stock's door, pre-orders go through the roof, it becomes the must have item of the season, some iPhone 5 owners cry that they can't upgrade until next year, other iPhone 5 owners say to hell with it and pre-order. Like a lot of other people ready to upgrade, I'm happy.

You're dreaming if you think the new flagship will have a bigger screen this year.

Think the apple purists will hate these, but teenagers and pay as you go crowds alike will buy these in droves. Apple playing into the brand now.

Considering a note 3 already so if the 5S is the abomination that is that gold thing I'm offski

Did you buy the 3G or 3GS or iPods, poly-white MacBooks etcetera? The iMac was the computer that saved Apple from total destruction and it was entirely encased in plastic.

Tourists

Steve started the second Apple revolution with plastic. Cmon!

It is. Its targeting low income or those who had to buy a Samsung.

For everything else, iphone 5S

Samsung and other phones are just as expensive as a iPhone. I'm tired of people looking down at people because they buy cheaper phones or aren't as consumed as fan boys.

The question is how is Apple going to play up the plastic. I imagine it will be something like, "Don't get confused. This is no cheap toy like our competitors. This is precision engineered plastics, the same that NASA uses to send bullet-proof space rockets to Mars."

LOL - I can see the introduction video in my mind.

Jon Ivy with a sad, concerned look. "Here at Apple, we take plastic very seriously. First, we go through 2.300.000 types of plastic to find the one that is the absolute best. We then polish each individual piece with the skin of an extinct Mammuth - the softest skin in the world. We then release it to market only to realize people keep buying those damn bumpers anyway"

How do you know it's cheap?

Well I guess according to him and the others on here, the iPhone 3 and 3GS NEVER EXISTED and NEVER HAD STEVE JOBS backing.

Because how could he possibly ever have approved such a cheap product made with plastic....

And on another note, just where has it been stated officially Apple actually has an event on the 10th?

Like I said, in my dreams. However, if the 5S doesn't do well, it might accelerate Apple's plans for the iPhone 6. I'm just hoping I don't join the iPad 3 club and the iPhone 6 doesn't release earlier than June.

99% sure that those event invites are going out tomorrow if Sept 10th is the keynote.

This could be very interesting.

unless you are in parts of europe where you can get the "high end" iPhone for 1€ :p

You might get a good phone at a cheap price, but Germany has very poor data allowances, and signal coverage in Germany is rubbish. Even so called unlimited data plans slow you down extremely after a certain data limit.
And even your broadband at home will soon have data caps, thanks to Telekom. So in the end, a lot of people in other parts of the world are better off.
Es ist nicht alles Gold was glänzt.

I thought plastic was for cheap phones only

Ah, but Apple only uses plastic made from unicorns.

Besides, if it's really priced at $400, it can hardly be called "cheap". The world isn't black and white like that.

There's a lot of price categories above "cheap". There's cheap ($50), low-priced ($130), upper low range ($220), lower mid-range ($350), upper mid-range ($450), high ($550+), overpriced ($1000+), luxury ($5,000) and ludicrous ($10,000+).

;)

happened with the 3G and 3GS.

if they get more peeps to move over to the iOS-universe, the cheaper phone did its job. but only time will tell.

Wished the video had more than just browsing the apple website. That red 5c (if it is "red") looks interesting..
