Like it or not, Apple is a trend setter in the world of design.

Look for pastel (and champagne) colors to suddenly become fashionable and cool over the next few months/years.
I think you're right, though it's an opinion that's not going to be popular around here until these things are everywhere by this time next year. These are very 80s colors and the 80s are in style again. I see numerous women wearing day-glo orange tops lately. The colors that Apple is using on these iPhone 5Cs is a more muted, subtle take on that, but it's definitely a nod in that direction. I think the 5C is going to be a huge hit with younger people, and not just because of the price.

A bit off topic here but does anybody know if the iPhone 5s will be able to surf and talk at the same time like T-Mobile and AT&T when using the Verizon network?? Is it a software thing, so iOS 7 will do the trick?

The iPhone would need another antenna for this to work on verizon. Hardware not software. Not sure if that'll be the case this time around.

Not only is the look cheap, not really any advancement on style in the iphone series but it also devalues existing iPhones as it's design is so similar.
So does it look similar or much cheaper? Make up your mind.
I just don't get it, unless this is half the price of an S3 who's going to buy this over a Samsung, unless your an Apple fan!
Than let me educate you. You can call me a fanboy, because i would never buy an Android device. But I'm not fanatic about the Apple brand. I just don't want to suffer from multiple profit-center syndrome anymore.

What is MPCS, you ask? Open up your typical self-assembly PC. Do you see how fancy the graphics card looks? And those ridiculous heatsink on your ram chips? Thats because everything in a PC is its own profit center and must be sold individually with a margin. But you don't have a better computer, if your graphics card looks good, only if what it does looks good.

In Androidland every company wants something different from me. Samsung wants me to buy hardware. Amazon wants me to buy content. And Google wants me to see their adds and give them my data, so they can sell it to advertisers. All the effort these companies undertake to make a profit, amounts to ruin my user experience. While Apples idea is to improve on it.

So no matter the cost or competition, I'm always only comparing iPhones with iPhones. Although I dislike many things Apple is doing with the iPhone, I am willing to make compromises to avoid contact with MPCS. In Appleworld there are only two possible phone purchases this year. It all comes down to 5C or 5S nothing more. Because I'm a value shopper, I'm buying a white 5C or nothing. And I mean nothing. My main cellphone is still a Nokia from 2006. I'm not rushing to throw my money at Apple. But I'm also not buying anything else since that day.

Now these colors look MUCH better than the last leak. There was no way those childish looking pastel colors were real.

I like the blue one, doesn't look as childish as the iPod touch colours.

I'm about to pull the trigger on a nexus 4 (just so I can at least try the other side of fence), but ill at least wait for the iPhone announcement to see if there is anything to keep me using an apple phone.

I really want a bigger screen so may have to android it for a while until the iPhone 6 or 7 :)

Where are all the "I hate plastic" / "Apple would never go plastic!" / "it looks like a toy!" folks now?

(Yes, there's an option to buy the higher quality one, but there are also higher quality Android OEMs options as well).

Umm, they are in this thread.

Steve Jobs is rolling in his grave

I just can't get over how ugly and cheap these look

It's not a software thing. Verizon chose to not allow that feature I guess. Every iPhone except Verizion's was able to do that. Verizon's new Samsung GS3 and GS4 phones are able to do voice and data at the same time so I guess Apple didn't support it on the Verizon phone because they back GSM networks instead. They've shown this tendency in the past.

I believe that the iphone doesn't support voice and data at the same time because the LTE and CDMA chip are a single chip. I believe that Samsung puts both CDMA and LTE chips in their phones so they are able to do both data and voice, but at the cost of increased battery consumption. I thought I heard that somewhere at least

Also iOS7 is final considering these things are all packaged up and ready to go. Come on GM!

That's the weird part, from everything I've read this has been the buggiest iOS betas yet. Including the last release! If they think they've squished all the bugs in the next release, that'd be pretty amazing. But then maybe they've done multiple beta sub-releases that haven't gone to the developers yet.

Although there is nothing stopping them from putting iOS 6.9999 on the phone and it immediately requires an update when they turn it on and Apple just has to hope the servers can handle it.

I'm thinking the developers got the GM a week before the press conferences the last few times around (or did they get it at the press conference and the public got it a week later and the phones a few days after that?).

They look cheap and nasty. I think someone in Apples design team has been let loose with the ugly stick and honestly I don't know what the hell they were thinking. It appears I am in the minority here but can you really sit there with a serious look on your face and tell me Apple has done well here. As far as I'm concerned they look more like something you'd buy in the Early Learning Centre rather than an Apple store.

So many boxes in the picture but yet to see one that states if this is a 16 or 32GB phone? Or maybe it's going to be one size only? If Apple goes two sizes 16 and 32? With a 399 and 299 off contract price. 99 dollars and 99 cent with contract......they got themselves a monster.

But at those prices......they better make the 5S something truly worth spending extra money on. I can see a lot of people saying "I don't need the faster processor for the extra 200/300 bucks"

IF they're making a 128GB version, I'm guessing the cheap models will be 8GB (possibly 16GB instead, not both, they need the distinction this is the baby model) and the 5s will be 32GB/64GB/128GB or 16GB/64GB/128GB. The latter really makes more sense for the $100 increments, 16GB to 32GB has generally been $100 for only 16GB more, while 32GB to 64GB is $100 for 32GB more.

Developing Story: Apple Buys Fisher Price Mobile Phone Division...

On the heels of Microsoft's acquisition of Nokia's mobile phone division, Apple is believed to have brokered a deal to purchase the sizable mobile phone assets of Fisher Price Corp. The deal is not yet confirmed, but leaked photos of the soon to be released iPhone 5C point to an existing joint partnership.

Check back for updates...

I think these cheaper phones will be for SE Asia only (esp China). Apple seems to be doing quite well in the West without any cheaper options in their model line-ups - remember the cheaper, white MacBook that got dropped a couple of years ago.

So I think the 5S will be everywhere, but the 5C only in specific markets like China, to help Apple get a foothold numerically.

Guess we'll find out in a week or so!

Except that China is not in south east Asia!

Sorry, just being a geography d*ck. I think they will be available everywhere, but I agree with you that the Asian market is a primary target of this phone. I'm Asian and in my country these phones will sell much better than the iphone 5 style, even without the price difference. We like colour - these are more interesting than a black or silver phone.

There will be some in my situation buy it as a holdover until the iPhone 6. I'm 1 year into my contract with Sprint and my iPhone 5. My area has terrible coverage so if the price is right on the 5C, I'll be more likely to buy out of my contract a year early and use this until the 6 is released if I choose to go that route. I'll save some money per month in the process as well. Granted, it's not for everyone, but if its as solid of a device as my iPhone 3G was then it'll be an easy choice for me. But I'll lay out my options after the announcement on the 10th.

Personally looking forward to the antidote to the rainbow koolaid...in all its 2007 OG iPhone glory.
