the leaks occur because Apple begins manufacturing a month or two before the announcement.

More like one month tops and from the launch not the announcement.

Months and months of production means stuff in warehouses to get damaged or stolen. Plus draining batteries etc. And it means having to have iOS ready way further ahead than now.

Apple has been very upfront that they don't work in that big stock piling game. Which is part of why folks are so antsy about hitting the site the moment preorders go up, camping on lines etc. They know supplies will be very limited.

I think these are great for what they are - cheap ways to get consumers to pick an iPhone over Android. It gets them in the Apple ecosystem to possibly buy an iPad, Macbook etc. It also dumps the 3.5" screen and old 30 pin connector.

For some of us, we will stick with the premium iPhone. I certainly won't buy a 5C but my Mom might.

I was ready to buy a Nexus 4 as a back to school gift for my teenage kid. It's inexpensive and unlocked.

I'll hold off now to wait and see what Apple will offer on the 10th.

For everyone who says the plastic is ugly...it's still prettier than your fugly otter box case!

True. Folks are saying plastic but we don't know the exact nature of the material. It might not be as cheap and low grade as folks are thinking. It could be something more of a polycarbonate not toy grade plastic. Something stronger than the 3G/S version which wasn't bad but it got gouged rather easily for some folks.

Does Apple always use Black text beneath icons on these printed slips? Cause in the iOS 7 beta (I'm running the latest) the text under icons are white not black.

Let´s hope Apple still has some surprises left after all these leaks, or else this is going to be an extremely boring event. I had high expectations, because I need a new phone. Looks like all the things we get are some mildly updated hardware with iOS 7.

Sadly I really need a new phone, else I would wait for the iPhone 6.

Hi. It might be sad but, this look's like the real deal! This iPhone model is the ugliest gear I've ever seen from Apple, regarding design: uniformity / shape / materials / colors / os ui. IOS 7 is very inconsistent and on this toys, it really shows the bad taste.

The current iPod touch on the contrary, is a very elegant equipment! The new IOS might look ok on it. They should have used it's design as a base, to develop the C model.

I don't know about the USA but, here in Europe, we're used to great quality / design from Apple. Here, we pay the full retail price. I think they will have a real surprise wit this garbage!

*Let's see what they have done with the S version... the 5 is not a special thing, to write home. Waiting for the graphite one, assuming that it's real!

Is it me or does the blue shot seem to have a bit of texture - both to the wallpaper and slightly to the shell? That would be nice if true.

it depends on the colour & contrast of your wallpaper.

Are you forgetting the fact that this is a budget iPhone? If you are used to paying full retail price for an iPhone, you should be looking at the 5S.

LUMIA 1020 On the Way

How do you run an youtube app on that thing? oh wait you can't

There is no way they would release the 5C at 8 and 16. 32 minimum these days.

8 and especially 16 are do-able and also adequate for those that mostly use low storage info type apps. The Galaxy S 4 has 16 so that will probably be the benchmark. Apple has no reason to not continue to keep storage one of the feature differentiators between the less expensive models and the flagship as storage isn't a big buying factor for most, judging by sales (the 4 and 4S beat the 5). Remember the 5C would be an entry level model. As usual with Apple products an extra $100 gets double the storage if that is important to the buyer.

Actually, I would totally buy the 5C with 64 gb. I care more about having the storage to have more music on hand than I do about the latest features, fancy aluminum, etc. Especially if 64 gb 5C were like $200 with contract and the 64 gb 5S was $300-400. Even if it costs $200 its still a lot cheaper. I will never by another phone with only 32 gb. Drives me absolutely crazy!!!

I'm curious why you think 32GB is absolutely unacceptable? I mean, that's how many feel about the 16GB.

They'll almost certainly keep the 8GB model so they can price it "from xxx" to keep that figure as low as possible.

My guess iPhone 5C will come in 8GB, 16GB and 32GB versions with the iPhone 5S in 32GB, 64GB and 128GB versions.

Yes, iPods are - so this would be consistent packaging...

Maybe they are going to market the iPhone 5C as grab-n-go impulse purchases? These would be sold unlocked at a lower price than the iPhone 5S and would be at virtually any electronics retailer. Need a phone? Just grab one of these and pop in a sim card?

Seems like so many people end up damaging or losing their phones, and there isn't really an easy place to buy replacements unless you want to go through the paperwork with your carrier.

Though I've always had a black iPhone and have preferred it on the 4-5, I feel like these phones would look sleeker if the face was white. It'd help to make the color pop, especially with the iOS7 UI.
