I have a guy that works for Verizon contacted me online saying he'll take one of my lines, but he wants to do it in the Verizon store. Does this sound like a setup? If I give him my number will they be able to go into my account and screw me over somehow?

I don't understand why he would not just do it by calling in? Seems strange to me, but some people are weird.....After all, its not like your selling a used phone to him that could possibly be stolen.

I'd stay as far away from that as possible!

Can the chat reps change to the $15/30 minute plan from a 450 nationwide plan?

You have to call in from my understanding. I never trust the chat reps, simply because I can't tell if they are idiots right off the bat lol I attempted to change my plan from NW Individual to NW Family share via MyVerizon and I arrived at a page that told me that the plans is currently not offered and I need to call customer service.

I'm guessing he's trying to figure out how people are getting all these udp and taking care of them one by one

That just means that it usually requires a 1 year contract extension, I believe. But if you already have a 2 year contract, you'll be good to go.
Yes - it means the minimum term you have to commit to is 1 year. For instance, they will not let you stay month-to-month and have the $15/mo loyalty plan. And if the current term on your contract is less than a year, they will put you on a 1 year contract starting from the day you change to the plan.

Excellent. Thanks!

Now to get a SIM card from the local Verizon store without them messing with my plan..... :)
You have to have a phone - Verizon stores will not give you a SIM card without a phone to put it in and they won't activate a tablet or a MiFi on a line with voice minutes.

Only a crazy person would agree to that.

On a side note, if a buyer asks for verification of a cell phone for sale, giving out the imei number is ok or not?

You can just take screen shot from swappa ESN check to show it's clean ESN. With so many scams around, buyer simply wants to protect himself.

Are we stuck with this plan for a year or could we change it back to 450?
You ALWAYS can change your plan at any time with the exception of if you upgrade to a smartphone on a basic line, you cannot drop the data plan any longer. The only thing you can't change is the contract end date/upgrade date.

But really what can they do with an IMEI if they don't have the phone and the SIM number? I know they can clone IMEIs but does that create an issue for the device?

thanks but can't you just warn/ban offenders and not close the thread? Many of us abide by the rules and it would be a shame for us if the thread were closed due to others violating the rules.

I received a notice about violation. I didn't consider that my post might be a problem. When I'm back at my PC, I can edit my original post if it would help any.

Will they go ahead and mail/ship me one if I have a phone on the way? Or do I have to give them the IMEI and such from the phone?

Hey guys, great thread!

I have done the add-a-line three times so far, and succesfully sold two of the UDPs.

Unfortunately, I did them one at a time, resulting in a hard pull to my credit each time!

I am wanting to do it again, but need more bang for the buck on the credit pull, and am hoping you guys can help me out. I want to do multiple lines in one shot, even 5 if I can!

Here is my situation: I have a family plan with 4 lines on it currently. How do I get a "sub-account" in order to get 5 more?

Also, can you get 5 lines in one shot from the Apple Store? I know the website makes you do one at a time.

THANKS ALL!

With a limited staff, its not fair to the other members, and forums if the moderation team spends an inordinate amount of time policing one thread. We do what we can, and hopefully the message was made, so this thread is not locked.

Most all forums do not allow people to offer things for sale and even to give things away for free. I am sure there are 50 people reading this thread right now who would give you a line and if all 50 responded, then the thread would get cluttered with responses and the helpful info and entertaining banter would get obscured by line transactions.

In general, whenever you join a new forum you should check out the rules but typically people aren't allowed to try to sell or even give away things in threads. If they are allowed to do it at all, there usually are special forums/threads for that.

Not possible RTFT.

I've been around here for a while, but the issue just never came up before. It's just not something that even occurred to me.

I also didn't think about my post leading to a bunch of people replying to me about it directly in the thread rather than via PM.

I'd try a Verizon authorized reseller to see if they'll just sell you a SIM card. If not, an option is to get a cheap phone from Swappa with whatever SIM you need. I bought an iPhone 5c for this specific purpose and had no issues getting a SIM card from Verizon. They didn't try to mess with my plan, though they did try to upsell me on minutes.

OK well I will help by warning people if they do it and ask them to remove their posts as I am sure all of the regulars here will do so also.

If you have a phone and an IMEI number to give them, Verizon will 2 day FedEx you a SIM card for free and I believe it will already be active if you give them the IMEI and don't already have a device on the line.

It has to be a 4G LTE phone though!!!!

On a side note, once you have 250 posts, and have been a member for 3 months, a Marketplace forum becomes available that does allow for person-to-person transactions. It isn't intended for commercial sales, but one-off sales and trades between members are permitted there.
