OK 10-4 thanks!

I order online because I travel a long way and I want to make sure there is at least one phone waiting but once I'm there I need to try the in store method

I currently have NW 450, PAYG text UDP so I think I need to switch to 700 minutes to be able to show UDP on in store order?

Ahh I see! What I do is get 6/6+ if possible, if not get 5s, so I will always get a phone....

Switching plans may be best bet

Except this theory makes no sense...

-They "made" a glitch so they could boost sales by adding lines.
-they close the glitch because people are using "intended" glitch

I doubt that the glitch was intentional, but the fact that it has been up for nearly 8 weeks now leads me to believe that someone at VZW made the decision not to mess with it, at least until now. Someone in their social media department must be aware that this is out there and that there are lots of threads out there on sites like this one, SlickDeals, and Howard Forums. Perhaps they let it keep going since each one that gets AOLed out is a new 2 year contract, and many were going to customers new to Verizon. If that ratio has changed, they may have decided to pull the plug.

Another scenario is that they didn't foresee this getting as big as it did, and were waiting for a scheduled update to their system to fix it.

They always give me this look like I stole something from them when they see me select the unlimited data. And then comes the questions ... feels like I'm getting interrogated

Anybody have any idea on how to go about creating a small business? ? ? I have someone in mind that has a small salon business, does that qualify?

Think it depends on who you're dealing with. Some places don't really care and will set you up a business or reseller account without any kind of check. Others require a business tax id.

Once the phone arrives, what is the safest way to activate the new SIM and phone to minimize risk of losing the UDP. I was hoping to do it via the "Activate or Switch Device" option online to avoid any unnecessary scrutiny. Or is that only for activating a new device but not a new SIM?

Would I be better off to just offer to have the original SIM mailed to me? If I did that, would I even need to do anything other than just put the SIM in my device? Any reason not to do it this way?

If he'll send you the SIM, that would be easiest, since you'd just pop it in and be on your way.

A sole proprietorship won't have a business tax ID (though it's so easy to set up an LLC now that there are fewer and fewer sole proprietorships).

These lines just became valuable again if you are willing to rent them out as UDP MHS.[/QUOTE]

I wouldn't mind dealing with the headaches of renting, but if Verizon were to cancel my lines for violating the terms of service would/could they still demand the ETF?

You can have 10 lines total in your name, but no more than 5 per NW FS plan.

First put a 4G LTE phone back on this line by putting the SIM card into a spare 4G LTE phone. Then call Verizon to have them break this line off of the family plan as a NW 450 minute, pay as you go text, UDP line. You don't need to create a subaccount as you can have a 5 line FS and a single line in the same account. Then ask that the minutes be changed to the $15/mo 30 minute loyalty plan but keep UDP. So total cost will be $45/mo. Then put the SIM back in the tablet.

Then add a new UDP line to the FS through apple.com for your daughter.

I am running into roadblocks at Verizon trying to do this. I have gone through three different phone reps saying if I break her line off of my Family Share Plan she will lose her UDP, even if she goes to the Loyalty Plan. I told them I wanted to break it off as a NW 450 Plan and they insist I will lose the UDP. They said same thing even if I move it to a sub-account.

Am I just having a problem with Verizon rep's, or maybe this cannot be done anymore.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again...

Yeah. Am self-employed myself and run into issues. Often have to order things for clients, but always have to buy at retail and just get reimbursed since places haven't been willing to give me wholesale pricing without tax id...

That's why I could never do what you guys are doing. I'd end up throwing the phones at the employee and bolting from the store at the first sign of trouble. :)

Dammit. now I gotta go digging for that SIM again sheesh. Just kidding, give me your address and I'll do it after I pick up today's iPhone

Actually you can get an EIN from irs.gov very easily

Although I would like to imagine myself doing that to the apple crew, I'd rather just get in and out like I was never there.

Guess it's going to be another sleepless night for me. Need to Google all this business lingo.

No joy at apple.com

Ok. I started off with the NW 1400 T&T FS plan with 2 smartphones w/uld, 1 smartphone w/2gb and 1 basic phone and got the message "Your request couldn’t be processed." at apple.com. At the suggestion of BarbaraUDP, I changed the plan to the NW 1400 Talk FS with 1000 texts per smartphone line and pay per use on the basic line, but still no go on the apple.com deal...same message. Any ideas? All I really want is an additional $45 UDP data only line and ultimately maybe a way to get the 2gb changed to uld. Any thoughts before all the phone fun ends?

BTW, specail thanks to BarbaraUDP for putting up with all my questions.

Can you change the plan to NW 700 with pay as you go text? Or maybe transfer a udp to a sub account and have that as a 700 NW.

Just got off the phone with vzw. My billing ends on the 15th and we've apparently already used 900 mins so changing to 700 would result in huge overages and moving one of my uld lines to my sub account will cause the loss of uld on the transferred line.

This is hard work! :)

unless Verizon has changed their policy since yesterday you will not lose UDP creating a sub account

edit; it is entirely possible Verizon did change their AOL policy today

call back and try another rep

The weekend / evening crews are retards so I prefer calling V weekdays around 8:30 am pacific time for best results

No, no, no, no, no! You will bring the new line over to the subaccount as a single line 1400 minute FS plan with UDP. Then you can change the minutes down to 700 from today forward and they will be prorated.

I already have a sub account with one basic line on it that's set to cancel on the 15th. Does that change anything? And why does every csr want to quiz me on why/what I'm doing? Sheesh!

That is easier said than done. The business must have credit in it's name as well as a physical presence, not just some guy working out of his basement.

I did not comment on what was easy I commented on what's possible

I'll bet you could open a new biz account using your personal credit, a little documentation that it is your business AND a large cash deposit on the biz lines

I was adding lines to my biz account and the rep said hey tell all your employees they can get a 5% discount if they add a line to the biz account and that's what got me thinking about the "lease" scenario

Wow just got an email from AOL department for the first time outlining the AOL process. It says the recipient will be required to switch to a currently available plan.

Did anyone else who did an AOL today get that email?

They have no legal basis at all for trying to stick you with an ETF if they cancel your service.

I don't recall ever reading anything to that effect so maybe things are a changin

Upgraded my existing UDP via Costco last month and went via apple to add a line but for some reason the new phone would not activate Apple could not explain and Verizon said the sim that came with it belonged to someone else. How that is possible in a sealed phone who knows.

If it was ship to home, that was the problem. It was not a SIM belonging to someone else, that was just some idiot rep pulling asinine explanations out of their behind.

Do p/u in-store.

Since I could not pick up in store I decided to try and order another phone. Again using add a line on apple.com no other changes to the order. I noticed with the first phone that did not activate even though my S5 reported between 4g LTE and 3g the iphone would only report 1x.

Today with the new phone activation I drove to an area where the S5 reported full 4g LTE to activate the phone. When I turned on the iphone received the same message that it could not activate to call and again the iphone reported only 1x.

Pulled up the Vzn coverage map on the S5 and drove to the nearest spot that was reported to have 4g LTE. Turned the phone on again and ....ACTIVATION!

Sorry for the long story but wanted to report the details should anyone else have an issue in the future, especially anyone living in a rural area.

I haven't tried to use the sim w/ adapter in the UML 295 and cradlepoint router. Decided to keep the sim in the iphone on for 24 hours before switching to a USB modem.

tell the csr what you want to do then get them talking about themselves ie where they live. the weather. their job etc. once you get them talking about their favorite subject (themselves) they will be to busy to snoop :)

Here is the email, it is the last sentence I am talking about. This is the first one of these I have gotten and I have done 7 AOLs now.
