I just heard this from a person who AOL'd a line from me today.

According to the Verizon AOL rep, Verizon will no longer allow the unlimited data feature to remain if doing the Assumption of Liability after November 13th.

Looks like it already mentioned so wanted to add my comment.
thank you for letting us all know!!!

There's now a second person on SlickDeals (sg228) reporting the 11/13 date.
Yeah, he just posted here above.

Yes, it would probably be relatively easy to get it swapped between family members in the same household, but not to some random stranger 4 states away.
Only 4 states away? My last one was in a remote region of the Western US, lol!

I also wonder whether they'll close the "loophole" at the same time, or still allow people to add unlimited accounts for their own use.
They are not allowing people to add UDP lines for their own use. This is a glitch and the stopping of AOLing UDP lines confirms it to me.

The reason they are doing this is b/c they can't get Apple to cooperate with fixing the glitch and/or they can't risk trying to fix it themselves right now due to the high volume holiday shopping season.

So they did the quickest thing they could to at least slow this down and are preventing AOLing UDP lines.

At least there's some warning and a little time to move remaining lines. It would be much worse if they just ended it.

What I mean is that someone who has an existing UDP line can add another (or 4 more, for that matter) and NOT AOL them but keep the plans for their own use. I'm sure Apple would close the glitch if Verizon told them to. Verizon isn't GTAT and has a bit more leverage.

No, Apple has the leverage in that relationship.

So I wonder if people will update their eBay/CL posts to say "MUST COMPLETE BY 11/13!!!" and if so, what impact that will have on prices.

No, Apple has the leverage in that relationship.

If VZW changes me to a 2GB plan, I'll just cancel without the ETF. It was offered to me when I bought the phone. How was I supposed to know whether or not it was "official"? And that's no different from anyone else who is AOLing the lines in right now. VZW can change them at any time.

I have a grandfathered AT&T UDP and wouldn't have even become a VZW customer if not for this "glitch." Assuming it holds, I'll probably add the $30 hotspot at some point and even consider canceling AT&T and porting over that number

Apple has more leverage than other OEMs, but the carriers aren't powerless. There is no Apple SIM in the Verizon iPad, and Apple has downplayed the idea of expanding the Apple SIM to the iPhone. I'm sure that's because they don't want to upset their relationships with the carriers. Apple is also more dependent on the $450 subsidy to keep their selling prices high.

This was never a glitch ! It was well known and planned by Verizon to boost sales for the quarter. The only reason they are stopping AOLing of lines is cause of all of the scalpers that are trying to make a living off of selling of unlimited data lines. Sorry everybody the gig is up time to go get a real job good thing that it's the holiday season and everybody is hiring:eek:

Well, Apple certainly didn't need any help selling iPhone 6s, and the rising tide is lifting all the carriers' respective boats.

But if it was like you said - intentional - then the "scalpers" are increasing the sales for the quarter. So what you are saying is internally inconsistent.

Nah, we just convert to the UDP MHS rental business, lol!

I will report everybody who rents lines !;)

I suggest holding onto the iPhone for now. You can always cancel and return within 14 days.

It's okay, sold it already. Sucks that I have a guy who will buy all my iPhone's for pretty much retail price but I can't even push these udp lines hahaha well either way I'm already on top and won't lose anything even if I etf. Although I rather do the tmobile etf dance than paying the whole $350 ;)

And I'm Back!!!!

Gift card and checkout as guest did the trick, lol!!!! Just don't use your apple id as you email address like I did the first time, that won't work.

ASSuming the rumor in regard to no more AOLing UDP starting November 13th, what you all that have multiple UDP lines going to do come the 13th?

Thankfully I have only added 4 UDP lines (5 lines total), keeping 2 for iPhone & Novatel T1114 & gave one line to a friend. If the rumor is true I'll probably end up paying the ETF on the 1 remaining line.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if this theory is true.

re MHS "leasing" so if a person had a stash of UDP lines it may be a TOS violation to lease BUT if you were to open a small business Verizon account and AOL your lines to your biz (allows up to 59 lines) you get an 8% discount on 5 lines or more AND a 5% discount for ANY "employees" etc that enroll under the plan. I asked what defines an "employee" and they said anyone you have given permission to access a line on the account! SO create small biz account and you are not leasing you are merely providing lines for your uhum, "sales" team :)

Was just about to tell you what to do... Glad you got it :)

Nice I guess this would allow you to have more than one order at a time with Apple

Anybody have any idea on how to go about creating a small business? ? ? I have someone in mind that has a small salon business, does that qualify?

Except this theory makes no sense...

-They "made" a glitch so they could boost sales by adding lines.
-they close the glitch because people are using "intended" glitch

Doesn't make any sense. Also if your thinking is that they added the glitch so that existing users would open more lines, that makes no sense either. We all know they make more money by adding new customers, rather than just the data plan fee they would get from an existing customer.

No only one per verizon account at a time

But idk why mess with online orders anyways... Just go into the store ask for them and buy them... Can get 2 at a time that way and they don't even bat an eye

Does anybody know what happens to your deposit after you've aol a line? Do you automatically get it back, or do I have to ask for it back. I forgot what line I had to put a deposit on. Should've kept better track.

You get it back once it's transferred. Not right away but usually within the billing cycle or at the end of the billing cycle, I can't remember

OK 10-4 thanks!

I order online because I travel a long way and I want to make sure there is at least one phone waiting but once I'm there I need to try the in store method

I currently have NW 450, PAYG text UDP so I think I need to switch to 700 minutes to be able to show UDP on in store order?

Does the 10 iphone per person limit apply to in store orders too?

One last question, and hopefully I'll be all set. The user whose UDP I AOLd was kind enough to track down the original SIM, stick it in a phone, and text me the PIN needed to set up the Verizon online account. (Thanks hommer1979! :D)

So I've got my online account, have the unused SIM, and have a phone on the way.

Once the phone arrives, what is the safest way to activate the new SIM and phone to minimize risk of losing the UDP. I was hoping to do it via the "Activate or Switch Device" option online to avoid any unnecessary scrutiny. Or is that only for activating a new device but not a new SIM?

Would I be better off to just offer to have the original SIM mailed to me? If I did that, would I even need to do anything other than just put the SIM in my device? Any reason not to do it this way?
