As I said that makes no sense. It is not a matter of how you see it. It is a matter of how much the different options cost.

Here is the math:

3 450 minute individual plans with UDPs no texts = $210/mo
1 700 minute family share plan with 3 UDPs and no texts = $190/mo

So you pay $20 more per month if you go with the 3 individual plans but of course you get 1350 minutes b/t the 3 lines vs. 700 with the family share.

However, if you move to the 1400 FS for $210/mo for 3 UDP lines, you get 1400 minutes AND 10 F&F.

When you have 2 or more lines, family share plans ALWAYS make sense over individual plans.

If you have the NW individual plans, will they switch you to the legacy family shared if you ask (sort of like the $15 plan that's not publicized)? It's a moot point for me since I sold my second individual VZW plan, and will stick with my dirt cheap AT&T off-contract UDP on my main phone for now, but should I decide on 11/14 to exploit the "glitch" one last time, would moving to the 700 minute shared plan for $150 be an option?

I'm not being entirely hypothetical. My parents are thinking of moving off Sprint, and if this "glitch" is still open I could conceivably see switching to a FS 1400 minute plan with 3 lines even if I can't formally transfer liability to them after Wednesday. I know where they live :D (plus I get 20% off from my corporate plan).

My mom would certainly take an iPhone 5s (possibly the 6), and while my dad is an Android fan, I could buy a 6 and sell it for enough margin to buy a Moto X. If I can get $300 in credit for porting 2 Sprint numbers, all the better.

Will the Apple "glitch" close on the 13th as well?

Has anyone heard anything about the apple.com "glitch" closing on the 13th as well? I am an existing VZW customer with a UDP line and I would like to get a subsidized iPhone by adding an additional UDP line to my account. I am going to actually keep and use both the phone and the line, no swapping, no selling the phone, no AOL to someone else. It is still going to cost $423 out of pocket, for which I have been saving up. I am close but not quite there. Will waiting until Friday be to my detriment?

Anyone know how long it takes for a AOL for vzw business customer take to go thru? Does it take longer than when a regular consumer takes a line? Had a guy buy up two lines for his business actt and messaged me right away to start the process... haven't heard from him since and the lines are still on my account.

Last resort just aol the udp first and worry about the phone later before the loophole closes. If not find an Apple Store that has available for pick up

Unfortunately there is no UDP to AOL. I would be adding a brand new line through Apple. Does the line technically exist to transfer if I place the order today to add it but it doesn't ship for another week?

If you get another taker, you can cancel the first AOL and give it to the other person. Warn the business customer first, give a deadline.

CONFIRMED! If you an individual plan with unlimited everything - talk, text and data - and can't add another UDP line, all you have to do is drop your unlimited texts down to 1000 texts and you can add a new UDP line.

If you do this can you go back in and change the texting plan on the original line back to unlimited, or is the unlimited text option like the UD option (gone) leaving you stuck to choose only from existing texting plans?

OF course not. This is why we do p/u in-store.

you can change back.

Yes - you can convert a 450 minute NW individual plan to a 700 minute NW family share and them merge another 450 minute NW individual plan into it. Price is:

$50 for 700 min + $10 access fee x 2 = $70/mo

If both lines have UDP then that is another $30 x 2 = $60/mo so total cost is $130/mo.

Then if you want unlimited texts it is another $30/mo so total cost is $160/mo.

1400 minute NW FS with 3 lines all having UDP and unlimited text would be $220/mo.

There may still be some life left at this. Just got off the phone with AOL dept.

She told me first of all, she doesn't really know about there is a deadline on the 13th. (Who knows, maybe she's not scheduled for that day, why does she care...)
Second, It's a pretty small department, but has been getting a lot of calls.
Third, maybe the nationwide plan is going on inactive plans soon. Maybe this is what the real deal is. They stop the nationwide plan, you will have no where to put your UDP lines anymore? Not 100% sure. Moreover, she did mention if the recipient already has nationwide plan, it will most likely still be able to be transferred..... if it is a individual line on nationwide, it may still be okay to transfer.
Hey just what I heard, take it for what its worth.....

Me personally? Dumping everything I have before 13th end and OUT! taking too much time, and too stressful getting rid of UDP's....

3 450 minute individual plans with UDPs no texts = $210/mo
1 700 minute family share plan with 3 UDPs and no texts = $190/mo

I actually got that wrong:

700 min = $50
line access = $10 x 3 = $30
UDP = $30 x 3 = $90

so a 700 minute family share plan with 3 UDPs and no texts = $170/mo

1400 FS is $20 more per month so $190/mo.

3 450 minute individual plans with UDPs no texts = $210/mo

If you have all lines have unlimited texts the savings is even more pronounced b/c the UL texts are $20 per line on the individual plans so

3 450 min NW T&T plans with UDP = $90 x 3 = $270/mo
1 700 min NW T&T plan with 3 UDP lines = $200/mo
1 1400 min NW T&T plan with 3 UDP lines = $220/mo

Bottom line, when you have 2 or more lines, family share plans ALWAYS make sense over individual plans.

I think this may end up being a YMMV kind of thing as some reps are clueless.

Second, It's a pretty small department, but has been getting a lot of calls.
I am sure they are pissed off about how much more work they have been doing, lol!

Third, maybe the nationwide plan is going on inactive plans soon.
Sounds like the rep was clueless. Nationwide plans are already inactive (i.e., grandfathered) plans. However, Verizon has NEVER taken away a grandfathered plan. And they let you add lines to family share plans as long as you have them. Adding an individual NW plan should not work but it does.

I actually got that wrong:

The master got the math wrong?! What's going on? Everyone is going on fumes before data apocalypses is here?

Maybe that's it. They are stopping allowing people to sign up for NW plan? Then you have no where to "park" your udp lines..... so if you have nationwide plans family plans already, there may still be some legs in this?
How do you think they will close it?

I'm trying to add a line to my existing account with ULD and I am not seeing the option on apple.com. It only offers family share plans on the new line.

Is this because my existing line is NATIONWIDE TALK & TEXT UNL or due to my company discount on the line? If so, can I modify the line to get the ability to add a new ULD line to my account?

So what is the conclusion of the thread participants that switched to $15/30 min loyalty plan - is this strictly a year pricing then plan reverts to whatever plan was previously?

I have seen both sides to this issue on the thread.

So it looks like the 1400 mins is a better choice with unlimited text for $220

Wow. So get this...

Someone was able to reverse an AOL'd line back to my account. It showed I had 4 NW lines this morning. I spent 50 minutes on the phone to get it back off of my account. The AOL dept said that shouldn't have happened, and the CORe dept said they couldn't put it back on the buyers account. Luckily I had a good AOL rep who persisted and transferred it back to the buyer. They had to initiate another AOL transfer.

I'm officially out of the business after this mishap. My nerves are shot.

They stopped allowing people to sign up for NW when they introduced the Share Everything plans - hence the term "grandfathered".

I have no idea what this means. Go back and read my post - Verizon has never taken away a grandfathered plan from anyone. And as long as you have a NW family share, they let you add lines to it. You should not be able to add a new NW individual plan through apple, but you can.

All they have to do to patch the glitch is fix their software so that it does not return the UDP feature code when the apple system queries Verizon's database. They don't have to eliminate NW plans to fix this.

I'm worried too. It states 1YR on my account plan, but 2 years on my contract date. I was going to use this as a MHS, but rethinking it now.

So you're not understanding my question. How are they going to patch/fix this come end of Wednesday? I am saying, if they stop allowing people to get new Nationwide plan, (if you do not have one already). They can stop the transferring (AOL) of UDP lines. Or what will they do to stop the transferring of UDP lines?
I am also saying, if you already have a NW plan, I think you may still be able to receive UDP lines. Only for those people who do not have NW right now, the transferring process maybe truly closed.
Or what would be the process/procedure they will have to get this done? We went over the fact, that apple will not do anything for Verizon, that is a given.

I understand your question - you are not understanding the answer.

The only thing that is getting "patched" on Friday (not wednesday) is the ability to AOL a UDP line with UDP intact. That is it.

Are you sure it was ever taken off of your account?

Yes. Was transferred yesterday. This morning at 6:30, the buyer called in and reversed it, per the AOL rep. Apparently he used my line to create a family plan. Somehow he was allowed to authorize the reversal. It's a fluke, but still a pain.

so even when you move a nationwide plan line to a nationwide plan, they are going to say, "sir/miss, you cannot move the line, unless you pick a new data plan" ?

Ok. Took a few minutes to find it... So ithe loyalty plan appears to be just a 1YR contract extension. No worries then. There's a lot of info in this thread to keep up with.

any particular reason why the reversal ? all still with unlimited data ?
