You can't call them directly - you need a Verizon rep to do it for you. As I said, if you can't get a Verizon rep to call CORe to cancel the line, then have them move the line to a subaccount. End of problem.

Yes that is what the scan activation does.

Yes.

UDP is not locked to a phone number - it is tied to a contract, i.e., your line of service. You always have been able to change a UDP's phone number online - you just don't get to pick the new number. What you can't get the Verizon reps to do is let you switch numbers b/t Verizon lines if one of them is a UDP line.

JulesJam, THANK YOU for that clarification. The fog is clearing.

Would moving the suspended line to a subaccount help, since it is the number that I ultimately want to port in and still shows in Verizon's system. I thought they wouldn't port a number if it was already a Verizon number. Yes, I know it is actually on Pageplus, but convince Verizon of that.

I have ALWAYS been told by Verizon reps on multiple occasions that I could not change the phone number on my UDP line without losing UDP. But we all have been give incorrect information by Verizon reps before.

Nope, I tried, they are only selling phone with contracts, at least for verizon at the moment.
Did you try buying one online? They way to do it if you are a Verizon customer is to put the model you know is available in your cart and then hit that you want to replace your phone (not add a line). Then type in the phone number of a line on your account that is not eligible for an upgrade. You will be told that you have to pay full price, but you can still get it in your cart and then check out for personal p/u.

I didn't complete the checkout b/c I don't want a full price phone but I got all the way to the last step. The only thing that was weird is that it said I would have to pay the $30 upgrade fee, which of course is not true.

Also, don't waste time showing up to a store, call ahead as they are in limited supply of iphone 6's
Or order online and do in-store p/u.

----------

They definitely do sell Verizon iPhone 6/6 Plus without contract at the Apple store. I bought a 6 and a 6 Plus on launch day at my local Apple Store.

You must have had a rep that didn't want to sell for whatever other reason.
They will sell them full price at my Apple store too.

You need to move the suspended line to the subaccount to make room to add a new UDP line to your family share plan. Didn't you say you had 5 lines already?

And didn't you say that the number has already been ported to page plus? If so, then the suspended Verizon line no longer has that number.

I've been reading over on XDA. There are also complaints of bad WIFI because of the kevlar. I believe the N6 does have OIS, but I'm not 100% of that. That youtube video was interesting from a few posts back. Is the iPhone really that yellow?
I will test it out later today and let you know.

Not sure where you guys are located, but in the NYC area that is not happening for any store I contact. I didn't try to get one on launch day, but every time I reach out you cannot show up and buy an iphone 6 in store off contract.

I was able to get it online from apple.com and ship to home, and I really didn't mind waiting a week or so. Glad to hear that it's not that restricted in other places.

porting number to udp line

I added a udp line via apple to my NW family share plan and wanted to keep my number that I had on my basic phone line.

I had an old boost mobile prepaid account that was still active. I ported my basic phone number to boost. As soon as the port was successful my basic line showed up in my verizon as suspended.

I then ported my number back into verizon to my udp line. I tried to do this online but it did not work. I called verizon and was connected to the porting department. After being on hold for ages, being sent to the automated system which did not work, I finally got a customer service rep who did the port in from boost mobile. As soon as the port in to my udp line was done the suspended basic line dropped off.

order online p/u in-store works too but they have to have the one you want in-stock when you order.

I would report those stores to apple corporate b/c I don't think that is consistent with apple's policy.

If you try to order for pick up in store, every single one in the NYC metro area will say unavailable for pickup. Those are details coming from the apple site so I am sure apple corporate is aware. Maybe they are available in short windows throughout the day/week, but every time I check it is a no go.

Yes, porting back doesn't work online - you have to call.

Gtk! Thanks for the update!!!!

The porting number to an existing UDP line was my sticking point since I have been told multiple times that changing the number would result in loss of UDP. I am sure the info here is more accurate than what you get from most CSRs. Sure wish I didn't have to call Verizon though. Even today when trying to get them to delete the suspended device, he tried to get me to move to a shared data plan.

When I view My Account, the suspended device shows both the phone number and the data plan that it had. So to me, it looks like Verizon still thinks of it as a Verizon number. So even on a subaccount, I am not sure if I can port back that number if it is still showing on my account.

But I guess in the meantime I could have the new number with UDP and port the number back later.

Yea I thought so too but they scan activated it and then during the activation process, it came up "Analyst Review".

Blah, I'm doing pickup as I'm typing this.

----------

I am confused - if you order online for in-store p/u, you pick the data plan when you ordered online. When you get to the store, they just scan activate the line.

The only time you pick the data plan in-store is when you do a new UDP line order in-store.
I just was able to get a 64GB SG iP6+ through checkout for in-store p/u today at SoHo store using the method I described above. Zip code was 10012. You need to check istocknow to know what is available for p/u in-store.

Like I said, the weird thing is it shows the upgrade fee but o/w you can get through checkout with a full price phone for p/u in-store in NYC. You won't be charged the upgrade fee.

Doesn't matter what Verizon online shows - the number has already been ported to page plus.

Well you can. RTFT.

Analyst Review is nothing to fear. No need to trample old people as you flee the store. Just wait patiently and try not to look petrified. You won't need to make any changes to the data plan.

Thanks, I guess I need to do the advanced options. I miss the good ole days when there was only set of options!

Yes, and back in the day it was also very easy to find information and help via the Community Forms which have unfortunately been revamped.

I much prefer swappa but was trying to unload some lines as well. What a cluster. I hate eBay.

I just tried for a 64gb 6 and this is the first time I'm seeing available today in green for a few locations. I swear this was not happening a few days ago, but maybe supply has picked up finally for the iphone 6? I'm glad they are now finally showing as available and will check istocknow for more convenience. I swear though, this wasn't happening before today:)

Nope still no grey 64. Waited for 6 days now.

What if both of them are UDP lines?

In my case I was able to get a 312 area code onto the account that I AOLed in. On the account that I added today, I wasn't (I tried every ZIP code combination available, VZW just seems to be out of 312 numbers today). But that one has the $5 text plan.

If not, I can just keep on trying every day until one shows up. Worst case, I can port from my land line that I never use, but has a 312 number.

As mentioned before, my sister has one unlimited line with Verizon that's eligible for an upgrade. She wants to keep her unlimited and her current phone number.

It looks like the best two options for her are (1) adding a new UDP line via Apple.com, porting away her current number, and then porting that number back to replace the new number, or (2) buying for home delivery via Best Buy.

My sister already has a new SIM, as per suggestions elsewhere, so Option 2 seems by far to be the easiest. Is Option 2 also the safest and best, or are people having trouble with Best Buy? Hoping to place an order in the next few minutes. All feedback appreciated.

Just got my first "we might require a deposit message" for the last phone I just ordered online for in store pickup. I am checking the status of the order online and when you click "show rate plan" it doesnt have a new phone number assigned like every other order I have placed.

Any reason for concern b/c a new phone number isnt showing up? What have other peoples experiences been with "we might require a deposit" message.. Am I ensured at least a Analyst call with pick up?

It is a YMMV kind of thing. If you can get them to do it, great.

Can you get a GV number with a 312 area code? If so, then you could port that to the UDP line.

I get that every time and all that happens is an Analyst Review - no deposit required. Last time I didn't even get the AR.

Did you notice if the order status had a phone number associated with it prior to picking up? The one time I experienced not having numbers assigned to my orders, something was screwed up with VZW and I wasnt able to get the phones.

No 312 numbers are available from GV. I guess it's becoming as rare as 212.
