That doesn't work if you are adding a line. It only works if you are switching carriers and are a new customer. If you try to use it, IIRC you end up with a phone that won't activate b/c the line won't create, Verizon gets involved and you end up with a 2GB plan.

Port to page plus, wait for the line to cancel, call if it doesn't cancel and then add a new UDP line. Then port the number back to the new UDP line.

Has anyone ported a number into Verizon using the Apple site ? It is after you choose add a line that you have the option to get a new number or to port an existing number.

JulesJim, if porting does not work, it is not clear to me how I will be able keep my number and not involve Verizon and risk losing the UDP.

you ever wonder what istock would look like if we had no one to take our udp lines?? haha go take a look it appears we were responsible for apple store stock issues, no one to take line quickly means store stock backs up. haha

I clearly answered that here.

If you need to involve Verizon to terminate the line you ported to page plus, you would be doing that before you add a new UDP line. So there is no problem with involving Verizon at that point as there is no brand new spankin' UDP line yet. Once you get the number ported to page plus and the Verizon line terminated THEN you add a new UDP line via apple.com. Once that is done THEN you port back to the new UDP line from page plus.

Quick question...

I am interested in getting an UPD from Verizon. I currently have AT&T but I would love to get an unlimited plan again.

I see auctions on eBay for anywhere from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars for an unlimited plan, so whats the catch with the ones that are being offered that are only a few dollars to buy it now?

And also, how easy is this whole process to complete?

Thanks in advance!

No catch. Just 2 yrs of contract and no phone. You will need to get your own phone.

Easy as 1 2 3...

I guess what i'm trying to understand is why some people are selling plans for say $5.99 or best offer, but then i see plans that are offered for $149.99 or something like that...

just sellers preference. Some are willing to give it away. Some want to charge little more. Some are contract free and some have 2 yr contract left. Because so many UDP is available, some would want to get rid of them at 5.99 vs trying to make decent money at 149.99.

Because the sellers that are selling them for $150 are betting that some dumb arse will take the bait.

IF they are contract free that warrants the additional price as you can use one of the upgrade tricks to get a subsidized phone.

I sales it's known as the greater fool theory. You will also see iphone 6's anywhere between $400 and $1500 plus as a seller can "ask" anything they want

I don't even know what to say to this:

eBay buyer:

Umm.. Sense of entitlement much? You agreed to the eBay contract - deal with it. This isn't Walmart... I don't have a Price Match Guarantee

Wtf.

----------

So, this was how I responded...

Another approach for this buyer would be to ask if say this coming spring when these grandfathered UDP's are once again bringing $500 each would he send you another $350 to be fair to you

Does target sell iPhones off contract? My local target shows a pretty large stock of iP6 models and i was wondering if I could buy one there to use with an unlimited data plan from someone

Or could I possibly buy an iP6 on contract then cancel the line right away by paying the early termination fee then use the existing phone for one of these unlimited data plans?

Since the 6 is so new, it may be difficult to get one off contract outside of apple store or the carrier. Getting the phone and cancelling the contract might be the quickest way.

Please PM or email me - I can help you with your free UDP. Very easy - you call AOL dept and they ask a few questions and BOOM - you now have VZW unlimited.

I thought I read earlier in this thread that if you pick up in store you can just have them scan it in and take it home to activate it yourself. Is that not the case?

True - the scan activation in store starts the new line on your verizon account, but the phone doesn't actually populate in your account (or fully activate) until you turn it on and activate the intro steps on the phone. If you are selling the phone to non-verizon customers or people who ship Int'l you can skip this last 1/2 of the phone activation and avoid the $35 activation fee. However, if the buyer wants to activate on verizon they need to already have an active sim to drop in if you don't finish the phone activation.

If I were to get my hands on a new iPhone that will work on the Verizon network how long would it take to get the line working on the new phone?

Still trying to figure out the easiest and quickest way to get a grey 6 64 gb

Anyone know if the iStock refresh times have changed - I check at random times throughout the day and they seem to update differently than they used to (No changes at 2:10 am/pm EST anymore)

Wondering if anyone had success ordering from apple after a failed attempt at ship to home (add a line) and not being able to activate the phone? I do not recall anyone returning to report success.

Is it still a problem with AOL on the weekends? I may have to take the the AOL route.

Thanks

My original ship to home never activated and I had to return it - have only done online orders for in-store pick-up since. So far no issues except for severe lack of iphone supply and very few takers for UDP lines now.

As I understand it - once you accept the AOL line you can immediately put your phone on it (any 4G phone) and it is up and running - literally minutes if you have a decent AOL rep on the line (suggest only calling during weekday business hours).

Can you still AOL lines that don't have an active device on them? I remember reading early on in the thread that if you don't AOL a line without a device right away you could risk it getting reviewed by an analyst and getting the unlimited data dropped. Just wondering if its safe to stop activating.... so I can stop being charged activation fees.

I am unclear on when and where you make the request to port your number (from GV or Pageplus). On the apple site when I add a new line, I can choose to get a new number or to port a number. If I port a number, I give details on the number and account info for that number.

It looks like markyr17 says to request a new number. Is this correct.

If you request a new number, at what point in the process do you request the port ? And who are you asking, Apple or Verizon ? I am hoping for in store pickup as others have said ship to home sometimes loses UDP and I hope to never involve Verizon, again for fear of losing UDP.

Do you walk out with a working iPhone6 with ported number or does it take 24 hours and hopefully your old phone still works during that time.

Sorry to be so dense here, but I have searched and not found these details. And since I will not be the one in store to pick up the phone (due to geography), I have to give very clear details or this is going to be a bust. I always thought that changing a number on a UDP line always caused it to lose UDP as that is associated with the number and cannot be moved.

As far as porting in your number on top of an UDP line, it's entirely possible. The only thing you can't do is do it through apples site. Get the new number, and then request a new number via port from other carrier.

Some say that the online function of this is broke right now, and that you have to call.

Thank you for responding. My schedule isn't allowing me to take a road trip right now which is fine since I don't really want the phone.

It's suspending the line w/o billing with a PDI on it that is a problem. That is prohibited by Verizon.

Anytime you use these PDIs Verizon will review the line if the PDI is left on the line for too long. How long is too long? I haven't been able to get a Verizon rep to quote me a number but it is not very long from what I have been told.

There's been a large amount of discussion on that topic on this thread. Search the thread.
