You would need a Verizon capable phone that is not activated on a Verizon account. You'd need a sim card to activate it with also. The work-around I do with buyers from time to time is ship them an active sim card for the line, this way they don't have to fool around trying to find a new phone.

this works especially well when they're looking to use it as a mifi.

You're such a nice guy :)

You can ask your buyer his IMEI & SIM ID. Activate on the line you want to AOL and then AOL

Yes but not if it is a MiFi b/c the AOL reps could freak out on you.

So you leave your phone on the line and ship them the active SIM card? What do you do, suspend the line and then put your phone on another line then to avoid any issues?

If their phone is already active somewhere else on Verizon, you can't do this.

My phone stays on the line- you worry too much

It's on "an opinion". They think it's fraudulent activity.

True. Fortunately we didn't have to deal with them. The night rep wrote a note and mentioned "fraud" in it, however the fraud department was never notified of anything. The day rep reversed everything the night rep did, and after 3 hours the line was successfully AOL'd. Doing another now, so if it goes through we're back in business :D

I suppose sending only an active SIM would also work if the buyer has an unlocked iPhone 6 and just wants to use the line. Apple has activated the CDMA radios in all of them now, including the AT&T & T-Mobile versions (I know from personal experience). They just show up as "unknown" devices online and on Verizon's systems.

I suppose I do but someone here maybe totten, I can't remember, had a phone blacklisted. I am not risking that.

Good point!

Can I just walk into an Apple Store and buy a Verizon iP6 without contract?

I managed to do that last year with the 5s. Look onto iStockNow.com and if they show in-store stock, you can try it. As for a Verizon iPhone 6 "device only." YMMV, but it seems to work if there is stock.

that asterisk term showed up after August. Verizon tried to eliminate upgrade on dummy phone.

If anyone wants an udp pm me

----------

This is a brand new UDP line I ordered from apple.com - it was a NW 450 minute, payg text, UDP individual line. I just asked for it to be changed to the 30 minute loyalty plan for $15 and to keep UDP. Voila!!!!

Waited on hold for about 25 minutes and had to hang up on the first rep. Then called back, waited on hold for a long time again and then got a rep who could do it.

That's sweet what did you really tell the rep? The rep didn't look into your account and question you? I am afraid to call and get question by them. I can really use one for my iPad

That would seem to be the case. Both of these lines were added to get the subsidized price for smartphones in 2012 & 2013. The smartphones were transferred to our grandfathered UDP plans, and we put dumb phones on these lines. I just noticed that the contract extended for 1 year from the time this sub account was created.

Loyalty Plan question... Do we have confirmation that you can get the $15/30 minute plan when you already have a 2-yr NW contract?

Never mind. Just saw Jules' comment above. Going to use this for my iPad.

1. After 24/48 hrs that you transferred out to page plus, call Verizon to have them cancel or terminate the line and then you are free to port back in the number from page plus for your desired line. You can do this in one call to Verizon as I did. You must already have the UDP line in your account already to port back in.

2. You should place your order to apple ASAP to create your UDP line. It doesn't matter what number you get with this order. You are going to port back in anyway from your page plus line.

3. You can create the lines now to have them ready to go. Unless you have extra phones laying around you will port in and out of page plus one by one until all your lines have the UDP with your desired phone #. That's how I did my lines. One spare phone and one line at a time.

Just curious how much are you paying a month? I have three separate individual lines and was thinking about combining them. How much does the 700 mins family cost

----------

I did it in the store this week to show the Apple rep how it's done. I have done three per day Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. As soon as I get the third, I dump all three to a guy that has taken almost all of my lines.

Does that guy still want the line?

Someone I know who received an AOL may want to put an iPhone 4 on it but I am trying my best to dissuade him.

I remember from last years upgrade with sub. price glitch, my father lost his unlimited because he went from a 4S to a 5S (3G -> LTE), but he got it back with a phone call which was painless.

I feel like this one will be harder to convince if the UDP is dropped for switching data plans. (Since 3G and 4G UDP lines are technically labeled separately or something)

My sis had a 4 just got the 6. She walked into Verizon asked for a new SIM card. No problem. But why would you want 3G speed? Huge difference.

If that's the case then I'll calm down on my pressuring of him to get a cheap LTE/4G phone from craigslist or something.

It's probably because the 5s my father got contained a new SIM card which changed the contract, which is why people do the Best Buy Method or something.

I think it's the only phone he has lying around and wants to start using it ASAP.

And 3G can be throttled, unlike LTE. Network optimization applies to 3G on UDPs.

Can you get unlimited text with the legacy plan $15/30?

I am deaf and this would be the perfect plan for me!

I'm not an iPhone user and hangouts on Verizon don't work with mms.
I have one of these plans and I just tried to change the texts and it won't let me do it online. So you would have to call and ask.

Anyone else get whacked on their verizonwireless bill... Mine is 1253. Showed every line. All pro rated. Cost about 43-50 per line depending on how long it was on my account. None more than 5 days. They just adjusted it all of a sudden. Never even fully activated phones. Just had them put a PDI on it

I just called and was told only the $10 for 1000 text plan could be put on the plan. But try doing chat and see if you can get a different answer.

It is b/c Verizon has you pay for a month in advance. But this should be adjusted at some point to a credit.
