Passbook desperately needs an option for a pass-lock code.
True, but yet again there's the lock screen ...

I used Passbook for the first time and was not very impressed. I bought some movie tickets with Fandango and then loaded them into Passbook. When I got close to the theater I was expecting to have my tickets actually come up on the lock screen but instead I got a pop-up that simply said "Fandango nearby".
Scanned my tickets with passbook which was really no more efficient than doing that with Fandango itself.
Even more annoying, even a few hours after my event I was continuing to get "Fandango nearby" on my phone... I had to go in and shred the pass to get rid of it.
This feature is in serious danger of being another Ping if Apple doesn't get their **** wired up.
Honestly that's exactly how Passbook is supposed to work, and you're lucky it actually works great, some people have problems scanning their passes or don't get notified when they reach the location, and you're supposed to shred the pass anyway once you're done with it. I don't see what you wanted more from Passbook.

I disabled Passbook's location services because of my experience with Fandango. At least if you swipe the "Nearby" notification it pulls up the ticket without needing to open Passbook from the home screen.
For passbook to be anywhere near as effective as an NFC enabled app, not only does Passbook need to notify me that I'm "near" something that is Passbook related, but it actually needs to load those Passbook items into the lock screen, or at least create an option for that depending on a users security preferences.
Sorry you don't "get it" but Passbook is clearly not ready for prime time, especially based on the lack of merchant integration with it when developers have had access to the feature via beta builds for months.
This was my experience as well. It showed on the lock screen, I swiped it and it took me right to my tickets. After the movie was over I shredded the tickets. Maybe I dont "get it" either as the poster a few back put it, but I dont see any issues with that. It looks to me like it worked as was intended.
Just curious but what's everyone's stance on Passbook for iPad (or iPad Mini)?
I hope it never comes to fruition. The last thing I want is some idiot trying opening his bag at the last minute to look for iPad and holding up the line.
That sounds like me when I whipped out my iPhone PassBook only to have the Target card pull up an expired coupon. I had to then find the target app manually, log in, find the coupon page and then have them scan off the app.
Apparently holding up a line and Looking stupid while trying to use PassBook isn't an iPad exclusive feature.![]()
I was excited to test the Target passcard the other day but unfortunately it didnt work at all.
The PassBook coupons expired on the 28th and wouldnt refresh (automatically or manually) so I had to pull up Target.app, go to my account and then open the discounts myself to get the active coupons.

This is hardly a convenience and definitely not a product I would recommend to my mother or the target audience this is supposed to "make shopping easier".

The notification I got was just an icon in the middle of the screen. If it was swipeable it wasn't apparent from the way it displayed on the lock screen.
