No the article states there is a free version. $9.99 I believe. Premium plus level. Read carefully
That tier can still have some content that has short pre-roll/initial ads due to contractual obligations. That said, while something like that is an "ad" it's not really what people typically think of when they think of ads being there while they watch something.

Ok. But the show is still commercial free

Correct, there are no ads during the shows/movies.

This I'm ok with but everyone's tolerance for pre-roll ads and the length of them vary, but those pale in comparison to the experience of traditional in-show ads. Back in the ReplayTV days, 30s skip was my favorite feature by far!

I thought I was having trouble as the initial email hasn't arrived, but I just opened the iOS cock app and it's fully functional. Between this(free),Disney+Hulu,Amazon,my local library's two streaming services and free DVD/Blurays to check out, plus all the other free streamers and free YouTube I'm happy as a pig in slop. Luckily I don't follow sports, and have watched very little TV before becoming disabled, So there is more great content I missed the first time than there are hours left in my golden years LOL.

Exactly.

This is going to be great for a lot of people, I just found it underwhelming in the context of paying for either of the paid tiers. And, also found the UI seemed to be designed to steer many into paying for things they shouldn't need to?

My perspective is probably also skewed by NBC killing FansChoiceTV (free streaming service) and moving all that content to a paid add-on to NBC Sports Gold? Yes, I'm still a bit salty about that one?

It will be interesting to see what direction it all takes in coming years?

I have Xfinity Internet only and trying to link my free peacock account it's is giving me the below error message.
Sorry, your Xfinity service doesn’t include Peacock Premium.

So you have to pay extra to get Premium even though you are an Xfinity customer ?

Well, so far, I like Peacock and am thinking of upgrading from free to Premium since American Express will pay for the monthly till the end of the year....

You need the X1

I do not have X1 or Flex and I was able to sign up for Peacock Premium. I double checked with the support team if I could sign up. However, at the time they told me I couldn’t.

I was forced to bundle a skinny 10 channel online only package with my intErnest to get a cheaper price. I am not sure if that isn’t he reason why I am eligible. Curious if other people are surprised as well.

You need the X1

No you don't. You just need to subscribe to cable service. I have a TiVO w/ Cabelcard and was able to link the account for premium service.

curious, what kind of offer from Amex?

Platinum AMEX is offering a $20/mo credit on streaming services to cardholders until the end of the year to help offset the lack of travel, which is where most of the benefits of the card are. I called to downgrade and the rep told me about it. It's automatic but I didn't know. But if you contact retention, you can also get 30K miles to keep the card.

Do you have peacock on your TiVo? I have a Bolt and can’t seem to get it on there.

No, I don't really use my TiVO for streaming and it isn't one of the apps available on any Roamio Pro. TiVO is really just my DVR at this point. My ATV has the Peacock app though so I watch it there.
