Every time I mention how much I love these things, I get dogged on here... but I'm not ashamed! Pebbles are awesome.

It's called "concern trolling", and it's definitely a thing. Here, educate yourself.

Definition: A person who posts on a blog thread, in the guise of "concern," to disrupt dialogue or undermine morale by pointing out that posters and/or the site may be getting themselves in trouble, usually with an authority or power. They point out problems that don't really exist. The intent is to derail, stifle, control, the dialogue.

That definition applies to posts towards other posters/the site itself. My post was directed at Pebble. It doesn't fit the definition at all.

Well, it's done by people about Apple Watch day and night (thousands of posts) , so I guess Pebble getting a few of those is only fair... ;-).

I think both will do well in their niche, no need for concern.

But who cares - why even make the comparison. Why the pissing contest.

I am sure Pebble is breaking out the champagne with the results of their campaign which is only a few hours old.

I swear...

You're right, they're not comparable. Apple Watch is a Lexus and Pebble is a Toyota. Both are for different markets.

Agreed, and extending... They should have enough market intel/feel for their audience to predict sales without Kickstarter.

So this says to me, they are grasping as they know how the Apple Watch platform/Apple Ecosystem crucifies their offering and are striving to gain momentum before that happens.

I think the why is simple...get people to preorder because the release date is after Apple Watch. My guess is KS probably gave them a deal to use their service again (Like a rate lower than the default 10%)

This is confusing to me about the pebble's 'water resistance'. But, swimming to me IS underwater. I don't understand.

Carefully reread what you quoted from their website.

They do not recommend TALKING underwater. It's a joke. It would screw up your ability to breath to try talking while you're underwater, even though the watch will function and be able to understand your voice and process your voice command.

The rumor was 4h active use, and now its 3h... Not content of the rumor, lets stretch it (using means using the screen). How long do you look at your Iphone screen per day... 4h?

If you actually use your watch screen 4h (or even 3h) a day I think you probably would be in dire need of watch rehab.

Also, again, which watch are you talking about; small one, big one, there's a substantial volume difference between them?

I have nothing against Pebble at all; it has its niche. But, this kind of straw man attack against Apple watch, smacks of desperation. You don't have to resort to trash the Apple Watch to appreciate your own. They both can live in their own little word.
And you keep assuming the larger watch is going to have a different battery....any other incorrect assumptions or stuff you want to make up?

Not really. I was comparing 2 mid range things and 2 high range things. Both Apple Watch and Pebble are great in their own way for the markets they're intended for. Same with the cars.

Anyone can drive any of those cars.

Only iOS users can use the Apple Watch.

Car analogies never work. Unless you're actually talking about cars.

People who use Kickstarter are idiots. Yes, lets fund a company and get zero equity in return. That will so them!

These stories are boring. That watch looks like a turkey. I may or may not pass on the first generation Apple watch, but my mechanical watch is doing yeoman duty in the meantime, and has been for 20 years.

Now this I agree with, for the kickstarters where someone really needs the funding to proceed.

What if the original Pebble kickstarter also gave away 10% (or 20, or 5, whatever they want to pitch) of the company to the backers (i.e., each person got about 1/6000th of the company).

I guess they (and everyone else) just pitched 0% and people bit anyway.

Analogies are never perfect, it's impossible to be. Why are people so difficult when others do analogies?

The point of the original car analogy was to point that one watch was premium and one was not. That worked.

An analogy is like 'a group of boys is like a pack of wolves'. It's true in some sense, but not most.

Tell me ONE analogy that works according to your 'perfect' use of the word.

Oh, you're wrong sbout the 'anyone can drive a car'... Thats not true. If we're being 'perfect' about it, only about half the population can drive. So that fits that half of the population has an iPhone.

A car requires a drivers license which means the person is of legal age and is not blind. Of course, even that isnt the whole story, ther person can not be drunk, sleeping, and must have access to a car.

Thank you. Analogies should never be taken literally.

Funding a company is akin to making the product purchase. They got their watch and in this case - will get the new watch.

Why don't you walk into the Apple store and demand part of their profits for buying an iPad.

Yeah - we can laundry list those that can't use a smart watch too.

What's the point. Now we're going to argue about analogies? Let's stay on topic - I am sure the moderators would enjoy that too.
