Should be a great update for mac mini. It is so far behind a simple speed bump would blow new life into the line.

The agony!

On a update does it usually take this long for the other sites to go down?

Oh crap - the press release that just popped up on the news sites says Apple today releases Final Cut Server..........ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

All that excitment for nothing. (Unless you really needed final cut server)

I wonder how many lost sales they have due to buyers giving up and getting something different instead of waiting any longer? The other manufacturers seem pretty open with their releases, yet Apple likes to maintain this level of secrecy around their new releases.

Allot of people never bother checking the website and just go to the Apple store and get what is currently offered. They go home, start using it and never worry about looking at new models till they need a new computer again.

I would say Apple is really not concerned, they get sales and they are increasing every year.

I must admit I am a little relieved that there was no update today. The mini I just purchased could have been returned up to tomorrow. When I saw the store down, I was already concocting a plan for returning the existing Mini while explaining to my wife why it had to be "returned" or "sent back" or "repaired under warranty".

I also had to anticipate questions about why an Apple computer (always touted as better than her PC) would need repair so soon.

*wipes brow* At least now, the return day will pass and the temptation alleviated. Whew!

Jeez, Go buy iMac now if you needed so badly, quit complain about no update.

See? Rumor isn't always true, sorry dude.

Yup, there's majority of consumers don't know about update, even more larger than people who are rumor about update.

here in Hong Kong, i found today that a lot of dealers have put the iMacs off-shelf, this strange act IMO must representing something significant......

i really think it's gonna be next week, let's keep our finger crossed

I followed that link and read:

> The 20-inch system, introduced in August 2007, can only display 262,144 colors...

Is this true?
Where at an official iMac site is this confirmed?

Thanks!

The problem for Apple is that this isn't confirmed; hence the reason for the law-suit.

Just looked at the 20" models selling at the Apple Store ("Time Limited Special Price" models going at refurb prices) & (clicking "Learn More") it clearly states that they can display millions of colours, when allegedly only the 24" iMacs can.

It's not really a big deal for most people, but it is misadvertising a product & many people bought 20" iMacs quite unaware that the 24" screens weren't only much bigger, they were also far superior in quality.

If that was true wouldn't they just remove them from the shelfs on monday night, to put the new ones on display 1st thing tuesday?

I have no idea whether current systems are pulled from the shelves in advance of new system releases or not but if so, perhaps they don't want angry customers demanding to know why they were sold a system the week (or in your case day) before the new ones were released.

Or maybe the iMacs were just naughty?

Agreed.

I'd saved for a couple of months to buy my iMac and I decided, update or no, I was going to buy it on payday- 31st March when I had the necessary capital.

I can honestly say I've had my iMac a week and a day now and I love it. If there had been a revision today and I'd have been eligible for a return/swap, I wouldn't have bothered. I'm delighted with my purchase and I reckon this Mac'll last many years to come, it's a corking machine :)

If you don't like complaining, just stop reading these topics. You obviously got your iMac already so be happy with it and let those who want to wait just wait. I don't want to spend €1749 on a computer that has been the same for about 8 months without a pricedrop. "Jeez..."

Sometimes it is nice to read things like this, but don't read a forum on your own free will and complain about people complaining when we're only displaying our frustrations in wanting something that is overdue...

Not me, I'm talking about you or other members who complain about no update, no offense.

Both of Mac and PC are different *shrug*

However, that's your choice to frustration here, not my business.

Agreed.

Same here, if update come sooner than 14 days of purchase date then I will exchange it, no biggie deal.

Just ordered....

For anyone waiting but are not sure....

i just ordered a 24in from a UK reseller and got a good deal on memory and hdd. Just to say i feel so much better now it's done, so much better! Coming tomorrow and i am very happy.

So if Apple update next week with some amazing specs then i guess the only thing that would really be a pain is the GPU.... apart from that i don't really mind.

If you thought the current machine was good enough for you a few months back it will be now too...if it's still not powerful enough either wait or get a mac pro..

Hope that helps!
M:)

Sure....it was

www.jigsaw24.com. if you call up and chat a bit with the guy they normally make some offers.

I got 750gb hdd with 4gb of RAM and next day delivery for about £300 less than from Apple. The deal was cheaper even if I had got the ram from Crucial and they fitted it for me.

M

Ah right thanks. From what I can see they're only cheaper because they don't charge stupidly for the BTO extras. I could get a 24" iMac 2.8 1GB with wireless keyboard and mouse plus 1 GB RAM from play.com for under £1200 with my apple student discount. Quite sneaky with the ex VAT pricing. I thought they were amazingly cheap til I realised...

Not sure how something that has not been announced is considered "Overdue". Last I checked Apple has promised no one an update to the iMac.

We like to confuse a rumors with official statements.
