How is the size compared to the 6S? I know the physical dimensions but just curious. Apple replaced my old 6S because it got lose by UPS apparently. So I've been using it while i travel -- I kinda miss the small size of the older phones. (Currently have a 12 pro)
If you miss the smaller size and you're currently using the 12 pro, you're going to love the mini. I made the same switch. Smaller form factor is fantastic, but the biggest selling point to me was actually the weight of the phone surprisingly.

So in the end I bought the 12 mini in purple and then a year later upgraded to the 13 mini in blue. It was overkill and too early but I guess I'm sorted for the next few years.

It may sound stupid, but i think if there won't be another Mini, i might think about trying the Max.

If i have have to live with a heavier and 2handed device, i may as well get the bigger one and get more out of the drawback.

but would have to try them both.
and it is waaay in the future, since i'll likely keep the 13Mini for a while.

Due to no iPhone 14 mini, the used price for 13 mini is broken, especially for the 512gb version. It's easily selling for $750+. For the same price, we can get used 13 pro 512gb.

That's an interesting take on it.
And it works given that regular 13/14 is not less cumbersome that other bigger brothers. I would use 2 hands with 13 as well as wife's 13 PM - hands get tired if talking on both when compared to 13 mini.
Could as well get the pro max since the struggles remain the same but you get bigger screen+battery.

I’m thinking of this too. I love my 12 mini. I see no reason to get a pro device. But last night I started thinking about the 14 plus. It’s about the same weight as the 14 pro, but given the bigger size it may feel lighter as the weight is distributed.
one question, does anybody somewhat regularly switch between two devices? I’d like to keep the 12mini for times when it’s convenient. even in the return window I might want to switch back and forth for comparison. Thoughts?

I ordered a 13 mini earlier this month, Upgraded from an 11. I just love the size. The thing is, it really isn’t a small phone. Once you use it for a few days it seems regular sized I have two thoughts on why it wasn’t popular. One is the name. Calling something mini kind of Belittles it. I can see people saying, oh, it’s mini I wouldn’t want that. I’m not sure what they could’ve called it but I think Mini was a poor choice.

I’m also wondering that Covid didn’t help very much. I’m convinced that as people had gotten to the Apple Store and put it in their hands, people would’ve gotten what the phone was about.

Just a couple of thoughts

Completely agree. I also think calling it mini doesn't help with perceived price point, you expect it to be significantly cheaper and skip a number of features of the regular iPhone when it reality it is just a smaller sized version of the same thing. The price was therefore higher than what you'd expect.

Personally they'd have been better marketing the 12/13 line as just the iPhone (5.4") and iPhone (6.1"). Just like the Apple Watch and MacBooks you're getting the same product just different sizes.

The mini branding would make more sense for an SE style iPhone where you forgo a number of features for a low price.

The mini might come back in the SE form. I genuinely don’t get why more people don’t enjoy this. They’re so light, pocketable, and delightfully powerful.

I had a brief moment of considering using these for a year, while waiting for the 15. Pic below compared to Pro Max.

I think if they were priced $150-200 lower, they’d be a great sell.

Totally agree. I’ve had a lot of people say “why get a phone so small?” Then I show them and point out the screen is bigger than the 6s plus and they’re shocked.

Switch between the two. Mini a nice weekend phone, and pro a daily workhorse.
So what’s the process entail? Backing up frequently and restoring from iCloud? Without a physical Sim, just not sure. Or can I leave both updated and active but literally switch which one is using cellular ?

My fiancée bought me a 13 Mini over the weekend. I haven't used it yet, but I'm looking forward to it. The weight of the Pro Max (even without a case) eventually got to me. I'm still holding onto the 13 Pro Max in case I miss its size.

They should make a pro mini and price it $100 cheaper than regular pro. I bet many are picking Pro instead of mini since they don't want to compromise on the camera instead.

Well, I don't, I just don't see the value added to them anymore. Furthermore, the public has spoken and the Mini is on its way out.
No the public didn’t really speak much at all, Apple themselves didn’t give them much of an option to even consider speaking about the 12/13 mini.

Apples international sites as well as North American sites did NOT mention the mini’s not without deleting the regular 12/13 iPhones first on the buy or specifications sub-sites.

Having no choice to make doesn’t man you’ve made a choice.
Ok fair enough jav6454, but forget what the public think, What do you honestly think of the 12/13 Mini iphones? You got to admit they are amazing for what they do, smallest chassis with the largest possible screen and premium features, i mean they are unique in this sense, there is no other phone like them right?

Excellent value for the size they came in. Enough to get Asus to create a similar small phone with lots of power and features! Zen Phone 9.

Parasitic Wall Street? Are you joking? You do realize reports have come out stating that sales numbers for the Mini have been abysmal for the past generations.

Again why do you think sales were abysmal? Lack of even advertising by Apple for both mini models. On their site or web, print and billboards. Essentially content creators or YouTubers did all the marketing.
The 13 mini will be fine for the next 5-6 years, so no need to decide on an upgrade until then. I had an SE 2016 for five years.

Personally I think that Apple may still update the iPhone mini every couple of years, similar to how they do with the iPad mini.

Have you noticed any issues with iOS 16?! My 12 mini started showing continuous bugs in notifications (overlapping notifications summary or single) and I use the lowest text size setting in iOS. Some freezing and even black rectngaulr notifications that quick selection or long selections revealed nothing nor changed anything on it.

iOS is getting lore radicle the last few times so careful on updates that may hinder the performance. I upgrade to a 14 Pro and man that weight is HUGE. I’m on the fence as I have 13 days for carrier HUP to walk back on. The 13 mini annoyed me die tot he FaceID protruding further into the screen.

An iPhone mini with 5.4:5.8” screen with pill shaped FaceID would be supreme!!

Well, that's profit margins for you.

Hmm. Profit margins on both the 12/13 mini actually exceed per unit significantly beyond the iPhone SE 2/3!

Marketing failed the units not the units themselves!

Sure they did. People didn't buy the Mini and Apple decided against a phone that makes so little money.
Again no they didn’t.

Users had no choice cause both I. Billboards, print media and on web Apple did nOT advertise at all! You had to select the regular iPhone 12/13 to even see spec sheet or on the buy page to see the 13 mini.

Yeah I think I’ll buy a 13 mini 512GB close to the end of the year. I wonder if Apple will do anything in AC+ from 14 Pro to 13 mini? lol.

This seems to be ignoring like, all, the factors around why the Mini didn't sell particularly well and just saying, "IT DIDN'T SELL PARTICULARLY WELL SO THE PEOPLE HAVE SPOKEN!"

I think the Mini got a bad rap with 12 Mini battery life being somewhat dismal. And the 'mini' moniker with high price is not helping. If the CPUs get efficient enough with improved battery chemistry, there's potential for this to come back.

One options is for them to release this again as an SE, or an iPhone Air, and position it as an affordable and/or lightweight phone. If it comes at sub-$600 price tag, it'll probably sell incredibly well.

Just over 2 weeks with the Mini 13 and it is the best iPhone I've owned in a long time. Wish I bought it sooner. I do miss the screen of a larger phone but not enough to give up the light weight of this device. Back to one handed use in either hand and it's no longer a bother to have in my pocket.

Battery just gets me through the entire day but really impressed with how fast this thing charges when plugged in.
