The public had nothing to do with it. Apple decides what we want, they always have. They make more profit selling the bigger more expensive phones, so their decision to stop making smaller phones was all about greed.

It's laughable how Apple designed the "Mini" as being mini, when it's way larger than the 3, 4 and 5 iPhones. The big phones that Apple keeps pushing larger and larger are ridiculous, they might as well put phone capabilities in their small iPads and be done with it.

I want a phone that is easy to hold, fits in my pocket and is affordable. Not some huge behemoth that cost's over $1,500!
Sure they did. People didn't buy the Mini and Apple decided against a phone that makes so little money.

Not in this case, the sales volumes from this device have been reported to be quite low.
Not because people didn't want a smaller phone, it's because Apple convince the masses that they want their higher end phones with more tech in them. Adding more tech, making them larger and with higher end pricing gives them more profit. If Apple put the exact same specs/tech in the mini then it would be the leader in sales. People don't want to carry a notebook sized phone around with them. A phone should be a phone, not micro size nor bulky. I still believe the iPhone 4 was the perfect size.

Keep telling yourself that. There is no difference between a 13 and 13 mini except size and yet the 13 sells more units. So there goes your argument.

Sales alone just mean people weren't influenced by a companies advertising how and equip the more expensive products with more tech. It's all about the money, follow the money trial and you'll find the truth.

Let's just end this debate and go on believing different things, it's okay. We're both enjoying our iPhone. I'm enjoying my 13 Mini after having a 7 Plus for over 4 years, and never realized how much I've missed the smaller form factor. But I've not a fan of the notch and look forward to the pin hole design but unless Apple releases it in a smaller phone, I'll be keeping my mini until it's not supported anymore.

To be honest I find it really hard to understand why anyone would update their phone every year.

That being said, the reason I bought the 13 mini (coming from a 7) was because it was to be the last mini. I intend to keep it until the day it will fail me or the day it would be obsolete. If apple hasn't change it's mini policy I would probably buy the smaller (regular) apple iPhone (and cry over the mini form).

On a sidenote I personally think apple didn't do the mini any service by placing it just 100$ under the regular iPhone. I believe it would have sold better if it was cheaper than that. But yes maybe to the detriment of the regular iPhone (and apple's margins)

I'm 100% with you on this!

Do people really find the 6.1 inch iPhone 12/13 big? It just a bit bigger then the 4.7 SE.
My 11 Pro felt ok in the hand, but I got to the point where I just couldn't stand the way it shifted and swung around like a little brick in whatever pocket I put it in.

The mini is just light and small enough that I can put it in a pocket and not be constantly reminded of its presence.

I think I have upgraded my then latest iPhone each year since the 5s, before each second year. This will be the first year since forever I won't upgrade. I just love the Mini size. It is perfect. And as someone said the latest normal 14 series will probably have the same older chip which will make the 13 Mini be almost an up-to-date iPhone. I also did only upgrade from 12 Mini to 13 Mini last year because even back then it was rumored to be the last Mini. Otherwise I would have bought the 14 Mini and skipped the 13 Mini.

So here you go, the last Mini. Who knows when this form factor will come back. It will for sure, but when? In 2 years as a new SE? A foldable iPhone in the size of the Mini? Maybe in 5-10 years when people get sick of carrying around a brick. Maybe never if phones will become obsolete with latest tech innovations. No one knows, but I am positive it will be revived in some way, the question is when.

I am too thinking about buying a new 13 Mini when it will be on a big sale. But then again why? Apple can repair my Mini display, change battery. It really depends on the price.

I have heard and read a lot about people who just loved the mini form factor but upgraded to a Pro because they wanted the pro features, mostly 3rd camera and 120HZ display.

So it is not about 13 Mini vs 13 but people would have bought a 13 Mini pro and then going the 13 Pro.

People who decided for the 13 obviously didn't want a small mini form factor. But there are not only a few who upgraded to a 13 Pro only because of the pro features but were very interested in the 13 Mini.

I got a lot of complements on the Mini or better the 12/13 Mini got a lot of complements, not only a few said they loved that sized fact, all of which own a pro device but were considering the Mini. Non of those owned a normal 12/13 of course.

It's not that they didn't want the smaller form factor, it's that they wanted the extra features the larger phones have. I for one am not going to pay $1,000 or more for a freaking phone. But I guess those that upgrade their phone every year have a lot of cash to give Apple and they are the type of people and reason why Apple releases new phones so frequently. Phones and the iOS don't need to change as much as Apple would have us believe. Change for the sake of change is not always a good thing.

Absolutely.

If the 13 mini had stainless steel edges, and promotion, and a telephoto lense…. 🤤🤤🤤

I use the ultra wide A LOT. way more than you could ever have expected me to think I would.

But I would use the telephoto even more.

Yes yes, THREE cameras in the mini you say? Impossible! It probably would be.

Hey 🤷‍♂️ Maybe we’ll have our “mini” pro one day with the size of the 11pro.

Well, I don't, I just don't see the value added to them anymore. Furthermore, the public has spoken and the Mini is on its way out.
I sort of wonder if this was timing though - so many people working from home with lockdowns and isolating etc, restricted travel. Portability was less of an issue for many and a nice big screen that you didnt need to squeeze into a pocket wasn't a hassle. I think they should have kept it for another cycle while the world gets back to normal.

yup i'm one of those people. i have a 13 pro. i love promotion and battery life... but NOT the size/weight. i do feel terrible that i didn't support the form factor that i vastly prefer. it was a tough choice.

It IS tough choice! I wish there was just ONE just like it used to be.

It would be easier to appreciate the selection. Yes or No. Newest or one/two years old for $100/$200 off.

The past 3 iPhones I've had has been the X, 12 Pro and now switched to the 13 mini a few months ago. The X was my favorite size, and after a little over a year with the 12 pro it was just sorta big and heavy (granted - small hands here). I plan on keeping this for 2-3 years and then make a decision from there. There's really no need to upgrade every year except to say you have the latest. Picked up a yearly upgrade this year just in case for some reason they decide to stop selling the mini or take away the larger storage options (not likely, but possible).

I miss the telephoto, but that's about it. It's certainly something you can live without.

Nah, it wasn't that. People just didn't want a smaller phone.

Just got a 13 mini for my wife and a 13 pro max for myself. Accordingly the roumors dont justify an upgrade to the 14. I think Apple should switch to a 2 year cycle but with a full lineup like the mini normal and max models. I really like my wife’s mini and i know lots of people who switched to an iphone because of the mini
