I think this is fake news released by Apple. It creates a sense of awe when they announce the phone and all of the features are enabled.
I was just thinking the exact same. Lower expectatuons after basically the whole phone design is leaked. Come September keynote we'll see an incredible device with expected features and more most likely.

Honestly, these reports are silly. If the issue is software, then they’ll release it when it’s ready, just like Portait mode. Relax people, everyone who works to deliver complex products regularly are pretty much always in some sort of panic. If it was easy everyone would do it.

Apple should drop wireless charging like an irradiated potato. They are supposed to make it so the engineering is not noticeable. If I am aware of something wacky with the charger then there is no product.

"Apple is also said to be struggling with the 3D sensor expected to be built into the front-facing camera, which is rumored to enable a facial scanning system that could replace Touch ID. the device might ship without major features enabled.":- Macrumors Quote

This is really dumb! No touch id and Apple is failing to make 3D facial recognition work right. I can't believe this. :-(

Wirelesscharging3Dsensorgate. Apple is DOOMED, I say DOOMED! SamsLGNokimotorHuawaHawaii has had this for years.

Ios11 is one of the most stable beta 1, 2, and 3's I've ever done.
If you think Beta 1 was stable, I don’t think you know what ‘stable’ means.

1 was horrendous with tons of bugs. 2 is okay. I’m running it with very few issues. Waiting to dl 3, but from what I’ve read, it is good.

Bring Scott back

Why? (I have to assume you're related to him)

In other news. I remember in his early days Cook said that Apple was "doubling down" on secrecy. It sure hasn't seemed that way for the entirety of his tenure. The rumors control the narrative for Apple and expectations for upcoming products.

Also, is the design cycle really this compressed? They've presumably been working on this device for over a year. Are we really to believe they are in a panic? Who knew that in-display Touch ID was such a technical hurdle. Well, Apple should've have known.

I am pretty sure that Apple knows the old adage "don't let your mouth write a check that your ass can't cash!"

We'll just have to wait and see if this is all smokescreen or real. (Fingers tapping table)

Unless Apple is planning on doing some real wireless charging (IE, receives a charge even when it's several feet from the power source), I find this story hard to believe.

Besides the competing phones that have been doing this for nearly a decade, Apple's own Apple Watch has been able to do "wireless charging" for over 2 years now.

Yeah, "wireless charging". I like my Apple Watch, but there is no way Apple has inductive charging in mind when they think "wireless charging" for a phone. If the watch had actual wireless charging, I'd be able to wake up in the morning with a fully charged Apple Watch that hadn't been taken off my wrist in weeks. Instead, where is my Apple Watch in the morning? Oh yeah, it's on my nightstand tethered to a wire that happens to have a magnet on one end of it.

So wait for the 2018 version of their iPhone EDITION. Yes, that's what I'm calling it. Assuming these features aren't coming to the 7s models....

After 4 years of incremental upgrades I really didn't expect Apple to pull much out of a hat. They lagged on wireless charging because they didn't need to. They lagged on facial recognition because they didn't need it. Same with many of their products. They sell you the bare minimum they can to extract the most amount of money.

Now that the hype is real, of course they're panicking. The 10th anniversary edition of Steve Job's greatest innovation is in the hands of bean counters. And they apparently want $1000 minimum for the "experience" of owning this thing. If it's not great, it's a flop and they know it.

Jobs would being cracking skulls right now and there is no way an unfinished product would go to market. They keep letting the tasks expand to the time alloted and it's a detriment to Apples reputation.

You can't force technology. Just wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Give it a month or two to develop what is correct and fitting. Sure, there is a seasonal market but I'd much rather wait and buy something developed and ready than buying something pushed out in hast (i.e. Samsung Note).
