Excited to upgrade to the 7s! :D

In all seriousness, wireless charging and good 3d facial scanning technology are kind of gimmicky at this point anyway, and there will be many growing pains even if they do pull it off for this cycle. These are exciting enough features that it's worth waiting at least a year for this tech to be perfected, on both the hardware and software sides. And as far as touch ID... I know I'm shouting into a well here, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it Apple!

What a load of crap. The iPhone 8 (or whatever they call it) is almost certainly finished and about to go into production if it hasn't already. Apple doesn't "panic", they determine very early on in the development process if a certain technology is ready for production, and if it's not ready they wait until next year. Apple struggling to ready a device for production this late in the game is absolutely unfathomable. If it's actually not ready for production, then they probably intend on a Spring 2018 release.

Exactly. These past few articles posted by Macrumors have been completely unbelievable about the "iPhone 8 being delayed", "Apple has only 8 weeks to figure it out", "Persistent Software problems with wireless charging & 3D facial recognition Causing panic at Apple."

It makes it an interesting read and perhaps some validity could be related with these articles, but in all likeliness, it's nothing more than to create drama and build tensehype as we approach closer to the September Keynote.

As you stated and as it's been rumored, production was slated to start early this year in June 2017 for the iPhone 8. Whatever rumors are surfacing doesn't seem exactly relevant to a Phone thats expected to launch 8 weeks from now. Whatever issues these articles are claiming Apple is struggling with the iPhone 8, doesn't seem applicable if the iPhone 8 is already in production. I feel certain Apple has everything under control, as rumors like this seem to generate unnecessary tension to some Over nothing.

A company that sells millions of iPhones annually will make due in September. They were long working on this iPhone before the iPhone 7 even launched.

This isn't that bad news guys! It's GREAT NEWS!! Tim isn't putting in 3 year old tech in a new phone!

And this leads me to think that the wireless charging MUST be at a distance, and something quite advance like Ossia Cota. If this was something similar to Qi like the Apple watch, it wouldn't be an engineering challenge!

So this is good news!!! Apple is actually pushing tech forward for once!! After years of bashing Tim, Tim has the fire to his feet. For all those have bashed Tim, thank you because you were critical, and would not settle for mediocre products

what does 'citing a source' mean ???????? Why not name the source. All sounds fake and creative to me.

Just ship the phone with bezel, slap on the Touch ID 2, a better camera (front and back), and the usual speed improvements and some fresh new colors.

They will do just that with iPhone 7S. The expectation was to pull something extraordinary for iPhone's 10th anniversary, though, so let's see what Apple comes up with.

Software issues? They have a couple months till the phone ships. Surely their software engineers on this project will be working damn near around the clock to get it resolved.

The way I interpret this is that the final version of the hardware showed-up late, and now software engineering is scrambling to make up for Lost Time ... welcome to the party, Pal ! ... where's that Die Hard emoji when I need it ?

Unless Apple is planning on doing some real wireless charging (IE, receives a charge even when it's several feet from the power source), I find this story hard to believe.

Besides the competing phones that have been doing this for nearly a decade, Apple's own Apple Watch has been able to do "wireless charging" for over 2 years now.

Difference here, apple will do wireless in a proprietary manner, so you need to spend $100 on thier charger as it will not work with any other chargers on the market.

3D facial recognition has been out for a decade? Where? Last I heard, Android's systems can be circumvented with photographs.
[doublepost=1499831100][/doublepost]They'd better include Touch ID if this is true. Can you imagine buying a new phone and having to use a passcode, at least for the first few months?

I'm talking about inductive charging.

And/or Apple didn't want to pay royalties for a ready made solution, and decided to try to implement it on their own.

In any case, if the rumors are halfway true, my thoughts go out to all those who are working long hours instead of seeing their family. It's sad how abused white collar workers are, in the name of meeting artificial deadlines.

At this point, I'm not going to believe anything until we get a grainy video of the iPhone prototype.

That seems an over-the-top reaction. "Shameful", really?

Odd when people accept "rumor" with "reality." Suddenly something which may be a fantasy is accepted as a "shame." Yes, if this is modern myth-making and its enemy. I say unless that auth procedure is magically good, then no solution for Touch ID means you hold the phone. Yes, Apple does this all the time. Remember when they couldn't make the color white? Charged you $10 more for black iBooks? I think they would rather put out what, the iPhone 7s+, etc., and show you the features of the 8/Pro, coming December 8.

Wasn't "portrait" mode in the Camera on the IPhone 7 turned on a couple of months after the release of the phone with a software update?

Seems Apple are caught in the cycle of September release, October/November "fix".

Honestly, they should just delay the release of the thing for a month or two and release it fully functional.

I really wish someone would compile a list of rumors from each iPhone launch and see what and what didn't come to fruition.

Is Apple having issues now because they're ramping up production? Are they leaking these stories on purpose?

Idk what's going on, but this launch will be very interesting...

No, they're doing this when there's much better security at Apple than ever before. There's fewer talkative back room guys, smuggling out backs and such. It looks to me like Apple has maybe thrown some jokes into the known rumor business.

I mean this could all very well just be FUD but it certainly feels recently like the moment Apple try something truly new that they choke.

A product that hasn't even been announced yet by the company that has had the top selling phone in the world for 9 years running is a flop huh?

After 4 years of incremental upgrades I really didn't expect Apple to pull much out of a hat. They lagged on wireless charging because they didn't need to. They lagged on facial recognition because they didn't need it. Same with many of their products. They sell you the bare minimum they can to extract the most amount of money.

Now that the hype is real, of course they're panicking. The 10th anniversary edition of Steve Job's greatest innovation is in the hands of bean counters. And they apparently want $1000 minimum for the "experience" of owning this thing. If it's not great, it's a flop and they know it.

Yeah, staying FAR away from this iPhone generation. FAR, FAR away. Maybe I can have a drink with Shrek or something while I'm there.

Seriously, Apple is trying too hard. They should have stuck with a conservative iPhone 7S release while they worked out these details. The iPhone doesn't need such a major facelift. The current design is iconic.

The current design is tired and you know it. It's time to retire that "iconic" design, huge bezels and all.
