So true. When he was getting them to talk about pro apps for iOS, I kept waiting for him to ask "What could or should Apple do in order to help the development of pro apps, for the good of the platform?" He consistently blows opportunities to ask Apple execs insightful questions as opposed to "Why did you do this or that awesome thing?"
So you want him to ask a question about what Apple NEEDS to be doing as opposed to what they are currently doing? I'm sure their response would immediately pivot back to "look at these great things we're doing now."

Enjoyed this more than the actual keynote. Craig Federighi is brilliant. I don't mind Phil Schiller either, but he seemed less comfortable. As others have said, I think John Gruber is a slightly awkward interviewer, and has this weird appearance of not visibly/physically reacting to anything the interviewee is saying unless he briefly laughs, but I thought his solo introduction was entertaining (loved the story about messing up the sponsor's url!). And I don't understand why Americans pronounce Craig as 'Cregg', but maybe thats just me.

I could have happily watched them all chat about macOS (;):D) and iOS stuff for another hour or two.

Does anyone really give a **** what these douchebags have to say?

Yes, very much so, seeing as they are amongst the people shaping how we will be able to use many Apple products. Apple sells many products to many people, so there are probably a large number of people who would be interested what they have to say.

Great interview, very spontaneous, authentic and fun. I doubt the armchair quarterbacks could have done materially better.

I think there are several folks on this forum who would have done a much better job executing the interview. Gruber has great guests however his interview skills are sadly lacking.

I think you are screaming. PCs don't buy or operate themselves, they require users, 600 million PC users.

And? You can insult a tool without insulting the person using it.

You will find that here on macrumors that our users most definitely define themselves by thier computers. It's the key attribute actually, also many are both PC and Mac users, so anti PC comments raise a few eyebrow, manly due to being in accurate.

Ha ha never heard that term. Makes sense lol

I said normal people, didn't I? ;)

Basically he was insulting Mac Pro users, almost all of whom have older machines - and even if they'd buy a new one, it is already 3 years old - and offering them an iPad.

I've always thought Schiller to be an idiot. He's not proven me wrong yet.

Or maybe he was insulting the Mac Pro as well. I honestly don't think he was insulting people.

For sure. But I don't think he was insulting people or tools/PCs. But rather just bringing to light a situation being the way it is.

Still... I know there are people in the world who for some reason or other need to feel they're being picked on or insulted in order to get through life. I buy and use a certain brand of socks and could not care less what people think about that. Ditto with my woodworking tools, car, and other material things I own.

I can't possibly imagine being insulted by a company executive of a competing tech company commenting on the computers or tech gadgets I own. Why would I even consider giving someone that much power over me?

I know people like that.

Was this the one where Schiller mentioned the bit about they spend a year working on a new file system and no one cares, and they do two new emoji and everyone flips out?

That was really a sweet moment for me. The one when I stopped feeling guilty about my next computer purchase being a Windows machine.
Would Apple care if you did go to Windows machine?

Yeh, insulting a tool (a PC) really makes sense... Poor argument you've got going on here.

``Just let the market...'' meme tag line for every ignorant person ever when it concerns capitalism. There is a reason Theodore Roosevelt was adamant about well-regulated capitalism. It's shrewd of Apple to take this approach in the AppStore.

His presentation was probably written by/with Schiller. Because Federighi is more clumsy when doing these interviews, but this interviewer is bad also so it makes it worse.
Did we just watch the same interview? Federighi seemed to be in very fluent conversation.

Federighi is _handsdown_ the best keynote speaker at Apple.
And Kevin is hands down the worst, he actually put me off buying the apple watch initially. When first announcing the apple watch and he said "in my spare time I like changing my watch face" it was so cringe. He wasn't any better at presenting at WWDC xD

I'd prefer Federighi to do the whole thing, I'm glad Tim wasn't in WWDC much as he sends me to sleep.

Indeed :) It's funny because I remember one of his first keynotes several years ago — he did a demo of a new version of Mac OS X.

Boy, he was so nervous! His hands were shaking so much that he wasn't able to activate the new OS X gestures he was introducing and, if I remember right, he had to block his right hand with his left hand in order to make the gestures work!

After that, maybe he had some training from Jobs :p

EDIT: I found the video!

First time watching this show. Is it me or is does the host seem kinda awkward and nervous at occasions? Is he normally like this?

I would have asked:

1 - Why no hardware this year?

2 - Why does Tim Cook speak like he's trying to steal children?

3 - Now that Apple allows you to hide apps that are on the home screen, why don't they let you set default apps?

4 - Why is Jony Ive incognito at the biggest developer event of the year? And is he still responsible for the software design?

Just a few I would have asked.

1. Hardware is coming, WWDC was always intended as a developer software focused venue.
2. I don't even know what that means
3. They WILL let you setup defaults. I think this was mentioned BOTH in the WWDC presentation and during this interview. So in contacts, you will be able to tap the message button and open whatsapp by default, etc.
4. The only good question out of the 4. Curious to know as well.

Upfront cost of windows pc is cheaper agreed, long run cost is a different story altogether.
Old womans talles and total ********. Down the road i can easily add another 16-32G of ram, new and current graphic card or even new processor if choose so. And it would cost a fraction of new mac. And win 10 are working like a charm.

Since they try to rip buyers and save every penny.....yes they do care. They are public company making profit with......you are right, sales. Sure tim cook is not going to call you at home and beg you to buy macbook but they sure want so sell macbook to evey person they could. Thing of this.....on lost macbook sale in one more added to windows base.

If they did care I'm sure they know why more and more people are going to window. If they did care about the sales, wouldn't they realize by now that all these disposable macs and not updating would be shooting themselves in the foot? Tim needs a wake up call.
