Yeah i think people love to boost about this when it’s on the other foot..these videos always get a front page article when a year old iPhone laps a brand new samsung phone. Now though? Crickets.
It didn't beat it. The iPhone 7 that is. Many other tests show the note 8 killing it.Figures don't lie and liars don't figure - but I'm struggling to see how this is possible since the 7 Plus smoked it and the 8 Plus is faster than the 7 Plus?
I guess it's the 3gb of RAM vs 6gb of RAM that caused this since the iPhone was faster on lap 1 and only fell behind when re-opening apps, but the 7 Plus had the same 3gb of RAM and still beat the Note 8.
Weird.
I'll still take the iPhone all day though.
And benchmarks prove nothing. Real world usage and how quick the phones actually respond is the real test and the note 8 overall is faster.Wrong.
iPhone users and supporters use actual benchmarks. Not one-off youtubers looking for clicks and running fake tests like app openings.
Lol benchmarks mean nothing... so an absolute measure of performance means nothing? Do you ignore stats like mpg when you buy cars too?And benchmarks prove nothing. Real world usage and how quick the phones actually respond is the real test and the note 8 overall is faster.
It funny how when iPhones had lower (or comparable) benchmark scores (around iPhone 5 time), it was all about real world speed, which it really should be what matters the most. Now, iPhones have massively powerful SoCs (more raw power than any android device) but seemingly run (slightly) slower. (At least that’s the unfortunate case with the iPhone 8).Lol benchmarks mean nothing... so an absolute measure of performance means nothing? Do you ignore stats like mpg when you buy cars too?
I'm not entirely sure, but what I do know is that many many people who love and use iPhones/Apple products have used the results of these tests to shout from the mountaintops that they have the fastest phone on the planet, regardless of specs.
A little birdie tells me Samsung paid him for this.
Personally having both phones, real world usage the iphone will be faster and the overall better performer. iOS 11.0.1 has been more smooth and faster btw.
All these artificial benchmarks (Apple actually paid DXOmark and maybe optimized Geekbench app with their money) from Geekbench for the processor and DXOmark for the camera have been brought to the light.
It's hilarious all these posts about "oh iOS 11 just needs to be optimised"
The same people who slate androids for the same problem and now we've got the same.
How far we've fallen lately with Apple.
but damn ios 11 needs to be optimised... big time. so many lags frame drops and stutters
chris pirillo can trashtalk the iphone X as much as he wants because i want to look at it myself and make my own judgement, but what he says about ios is 100% true. did you watch his unboxing of the iphone 8? he boots up the phone and on the 2nd page setting up it already starts dropping frames and starts stuttering when swiping between the front pages. i just watched some youtube videos about ios speed test comparing ios 5 to 9 on the iphone 4S and 6 to 10 on the 5 and man those phones got slooooow. i understand that new features are gonna make phones boot up a little slower but ios 11 compared to ios 9 takes almost DOUBLE the time to boot up on an iphone 6. say whatever you want about Scott Forstall's design decisions but his ios versions always worked really well (let's just forget about maps when it first came out for a second please) i don't know if anybody at apple ever experienced their phone slowing down since they probably always have the newest version but this sh** is getting annoyingI dont think there is any point of contention with your statement. As I alluded to earlier this wasnt the case with ios 10 on the 7 plus last year which leads me to believe Apple is getting complacent as others have suggested. @ChrisPirillo took a lot of heat for his video about the iphone x but his comments about the software engineering quality were correct. Apple is losing its edge in that respect.
And I remember when Android fans would shout through their megaphones about their specs, especially if a particular number was higher than on the iPhone at the time.
We're all guilty.
I don't think it is lazy or complacent, but rather "big company" or innovators dilemma. it is classic actually. They are locked into a massive population and probably the most successful product in the history of the world. Making changes to that and all the ripple effects that takes place is not easy to navigate. History tells us there needs to be a fail or at least a burning platform for the company to successfully manage though it. Microsoft just went though it, IBM struggled/struggling, Blackberry died..etc. Apple will come through, but will need to struggle a bit more to the other side. They certainly have the people to make it happen! For sure. But my explanation for that was always that Apple, by the very nature of the way that their hardware and software is structured, is able to do FAR more with less. Android by nature is far less optimized because it tries to be everything to all people and all devices, therefore a lot of extra horsepower is needed with an Android to even get into the same neighborhood as the iPhone in terms of speed and performance.
Now? I'm not quite as sure. The gap is narrowing without a doubt. I still think the iPhone is the best smartphone on the market and will continue to use an iPhone until I truly believe it's not the best offering anymore. I think Apple has become a bit lazy and complacent in recent years, but they're still the best and they still have plenty of time to turn the laziness and complacency around.

Wow. And I thought only Apple fanboys shotgunned the koolaid around here. I really hope you’re just trolling.SMH you are unbelievable. Most likely you will side with Apple no matter what. The A11 bionic should be renamed the A11 tortoise. All these artificial benchmarks (Apple actually paid DXOmark and maybe optimized Geekbench app with their money) from Geekbench for the processor and DXOmark for the camera have been brought to the light. Nothing shows performance like real world performance and there are others who have both devices that feel the Note 8 is faster and actually utilizes it's power to truly be productive so I guess we will keep these shenanigans alive......
There are certainly issues with IOS 11 that’s caused this issue with apps and ram managementPhoneBuff is actually pretty impartial. If you doubt his video, you can watch EverythingApplePro’s video conducting a similar test with the exact same result.
The issue is clearly that iOS 11 murdered RAM management (among other atrocities it has committed). You can see that in both videos. There is no reason why the 6-Core 8+ couldn’t keep every single one of those apps open in the background when the 7+ easily did this through every single iteration of iOS 10 a year ago. I’ll also mention that the 7+ on iOS 10.3 lost to the Note 8 by a smaller margin than the 8+ on iOS 11 did.
As others have said, iOS 11 is a mess and Apple needs to fix it ASAP.

I don’t think anyone is giving Apple a pass here, the fact is that iOS 11 has been an abortion for the most part.
The difference is that Apple has already pushed a minor update and is going to push out a dot-one in the next 3-4 weeks. If Oreo ran like garbage on your device, you’d just have to deal with it. For months likely.
