This proves benchmarks mean nothing because the phone isn’t performing like it should. Same with computers. I have seen benchmarks done on many setups but sometimes the lower benchmark machine actually performed better in the real world.

Like I said, benchmarks aren’t used as much any more. Only iOS fans use it so it seems.
You make no sense. You’re the only one who doesn’t think benchmarks have validity. Likely because you want to dislike Apple and look for an excuse.

You obviously haven;t been reading through this whole thread or the others. MANY here do not listen to benchmarks like yourself.

I own 3 iPhones, 2 iPads one of them being iPad Pro 10.5, 2 MACs, so how do I not like Apple? Just because I speak the truth I am now blamed for disliking Apple? Get real.

There are certainly issues with IOS 11 that’s caused this issue with apps and ram management

I mean even the home button is buggy at the moment several times today I have tried to open my home with Touch ID and it’s took 4-5 secs just for the screen to wake up. These are issues I have never had before.

Hopefully the next update fixes all of this issues as right now it’s buggy

THE podcast app is unuseable at the moment..wish it went back to the old setup. Whatever happened to use opening the podcast app and going through the latest podcasts in time order?

Oh man don’t get me started on the podcast app.

Usually, when Apple updates a stock app I can find something to like about the change. There is absolutely nothing to like in the podcast app now. For the life of me, I don’t get how that hachet job got approved for release.

Launch Note 8 vs. Launch iPhone 8 -> Note 8 won. "iOS isn't optimized enough"

Launch Note 8 vs. iPhone 7 -> Note 8 won. "iPhone 7 is a year old. Doesn't count."

Launch Samsung S8 vs. iPhone 7 -> iPhone won. "iPhone continues to dominate."

Launch Note 7 vs. Launch iPhone 7 -> iPhone won. "iPhone is still the king."

Prediction:
Note 8 vs. iPhone 8 on iOS 11.1 -> Note 8 wins. "iOS needs to be optimized even more. Just wait."

Note 8 vs. iPhone 8 on iOS 11.2 -> iPhone 8 wins. "Ha! iPHONE WINS! It's the true powerhouse mobile device. Dumbdung sucks, can't even beat an iPhone with less cores and less RAM." MacRumors FP: "iPHONE 8 WINS SPEEDTEST!"

Jokes aside, I'm fairly impressed with the Note 8 in terms of the speed test. The biggest con for Android is that it does seem to slow down eventually (at least in my case - S7 Edge), so I'm excited to see how the Note 8 will hold out in the future.

Truth is what proven, reliable, consistent tests. Not “well I feeeeel like I pressed it right even though the softwares are in different development stages (just released and buggy versus developed) and it was my favorite app (which is on dev as well).”

Well 6 months later the S8 plus seems to be as quick as day 1 which is a good improvement on the S7 edge for sure.

The iPhone 7 and 8 Plus on 10.3.3 (if it could) would both bring the Note 8 to pieces. Once 11.1 or 2 comes around Apple should be winning again. 11’s sluggishness imo is just a result of Apple having to develop for 2 new IPhones instead of 1, it’s just a crowded and complicated year.

Right, which is the Note 8.

Honestly I think iOS 11 has caused nearly double the refresh of apps in the background than 10.3.3 did. I can have only two apps open in my 7 Plus and one of them will refresh within seconds. It drives me bonkers when I'm needing both apps to stay where they are.

I was also surprised by this test. Now, I’m very curious about comparing the results of the iPhone 8 to the iPhone 7.

Edit:
I went back and found the results. The iPhone 7 Plus’ times were
Lap 1 Times - 1:13.41, 1:26.74, 1:17.32
Total Times - 1:46.41, 1:58.26, 1:50.61

iPhone 8 Plus’ times
Lap 1 - 1:27.79
Total Time - 2:07.79

In other words, the iPhone 8 Plus’ memory management (at least in iOS 11.0.0) is WORSE than in the iPhone 7 Plus’. And it wasn’t even close!

Wow.
Different versions of iOS..

PhoneBuff is actually pretty impartial. If you doubt his video, you can watch EverythingApplePro’s video conducting a similar test with the exact same result.

The issue is clearly that iOS 11 murdered RAM management (among other atrocities it has committed). You can see that in both videos. There is no reason why the 6-Core 8+ couldn’t keep every single one of those apps open in the background when the 7+ easily did this through every single iteration of iOS 10 a year ago. I’ll also mention that the 7+ on iOS 10.3 lost to the Note 8 by a smaller margin than the 8+ on iOS 11 did.

As others have said, iOS 11 is a mess and Apple needs to fix it ASAP.

I don’t think anyone is giving Apple a pass here, the fact is that iOS 11 has been an abortion for the most part.

The difference is that Apple has already pushed a minor update and is going to push out a dot-one in the next 3-4 weeks. If Oreo ran like garbage on your device, you’d just have to deal with it. For months likely.
That's not the point,

that's not the point. I have both phones and I can tell you the note isn't "faster". Not to mention heavy users will want the iphone for its processing power, so to make a video and be like, "the note8 is faster" is nonsense. In my experiences both phones are fast, more intensive tasks are much faster on the iphone, gaming is smoother on the iphone and even something as simple as opening the dialer is faster on the iphone. Receiving notifications and emails I get first on my iPhone vs my note, scrolling certain web pages and Facebook is smoother. So like I said, to make a video like that is bs

Well, to be fair, your first post started with claiming that the YouTuber was paid by Samsung. It sounded to me like that was your point.

In any event, *I* didn’t say the phone was faster. I said that the video indicates that there is an obvious drop-off in RAM management moving from iOS 10.3 to 11. The video indicates that apps don’t stay open as long as they should, and this has been the experience of many users, including myself moving from a 7+ to an 8+

Perhaps this doesn’t matter to you personally, but that doesn’t make it “bs”.

Yes it does cause he states at the end that the note is the speedtest "champion" lol

You’re taking that waaaay too literally.

Hes a YouTuber. He does that for entertainment value. He has done this for years.

If it helps you, go watch EverythingApplePro do the exact same test, with the exact same results without “declaring a champion”.

I am not talking about EverythingApplePro. Don't care about entertainment value and it's not about entertainment it's about informing people, and the problem is what he is informing people of is false.

Not in my experience. Note 8 can do a lot more than the iPhone and it is faster in most tasks without having to do workarounds just to make things work.

False in your opinion. In reality they shows the video from two sources and actually much more which show the note 8 is faster.

So many people are missing a huge point here. Android runs like a virtual desktop, like an emulator. IOS runs everything natively. So therefore iOS has always had an edge. Even making an Android that can keep up with iOS is a huge feat. Imagine all the bloatware, all the resources needed to run apps, etc on an Android. You can't knock the Note 8 because it's an incredible feat to be able to have the hardware necessary to carry Android this gracefully.

Edit: Imagine the Note 8 on a ROM that completely removed bloat and any UI customizations. Especially making it vanilla Android. This device would run at laptop speed.

Dude, the guy makes a living off making these videos, so when making videos like that it should be, oh I don't know, accurate? Truthful?

He’s lying because he declared a “winner” in a competition between two phones? o_O

He didn’t rig the results. He didn’t handicap either phone. He explained his method pretty clearly. The video demonstrates something that is objectively true...the Note 8 does a better job of keeping apps open in the background than the 8+ on iOS 11. He even states this and says that he’ll have a “rematch” when a new version of iOS 11 comes out.

He didn’t claim in the video that the Note 8 is definitively faster than the 8+. He simply had the phones do the same set of tasks the exact same way and the Note 8 did them faster, then he declared a winner in this particular settting. That’s it. If you choose to read more into it than that, then that is on you. And given the fact that he makes money doing YouTube videos (as you stated), it would appear that you and you alone have a problem with him “declaring a winner” when he does this.
