damn look at that wasted area on the top and bottom ... it could easily fit a 5.0 screen and keep the size

Sure if you barely squeeze in the home button and have asymmetrical top and bottom bezels. I'm sure Touch ID drives how wide the bottom bezel is and the top bezel is going to match.

Sigh. So not even anything clever with the bezels, just an oversized knock-off of their own product.

And for a company who stayed with the smaller screen size, boasting its easy operation for so long, it would disappoint me if they didn't trim the bezels.

how the hell are developers going to support this many layouts?

auto layout constraints are a headache to implement.

Android developers are more than able to accommodate all screen sizes. Not concerned about this at all.

Not sure to what to make of the larger iPhone (if indeed it is true) - one thing I like about the iPhone is that it's slim. If I want bigger, I just use the iPad. I guess I will need to see it before I decide if I get one or not.

You can tell these are leaks. The hands holding the parts are so ugly. At least Apple themselves use relatively good looking hands in their advertising.

I have to ask, who here actually wants a bigger iPhone? Bigger screen, sure, but a bigger iPhone? I doubt it's many. Seems to me there is a lot of misplaced hate towards larger screens because Apple can't seem to get away from a 2007 layout. I would love it if they came out on screen and said "Remember how we said larger screens were dumb, well, it's actually larger phones that are dumb. Introducing the new iPhone 6 with a 4.7" screen, it's only 1mm wider and the same height as the iPhone 5s! Big screen, small package."

Is it not at all possible that Touch ID is driving the requirements of the bezel? I'm not sure how you could have a smaller home button that would still work effectively. Touch ID was just introduced last year; did anyone really expect that in one year Apple would have figured out a way to incorporate Touch ID without the need of a physical home button? I'm sure we'll get there some day but I never expected the home button to go away this year. I've seen fan mockups where the bezel just barely is wide enough for the home button and the top bezel is shrunk to where top and bottom are asymmetrical and it looks hideous.

Giving the customer what it wants as opposed to? Disregarding the people that will give them money? Fantastic arguing point that

Well, there were times when Apple was not selling what people wanted but made people want what they were selling...

Is that home button really the same size as the existing one? Those bezels look pretty huge but maybe it's because of the camera angle or something.

For me, a 4.7" screen would be fine with me, stop all your moaning, you'll get one anyway, you know it.

Love hearing all these complaints.. Makes me laugh.

The same people will be changing their tune when the launch happens.

Yes, that's why I'm worried, nice designs but a premium price

Well Apple could just be messing with us. I hope they leave the unlocked price similar to what its now.

This makes me very sad: it is way too big. No way do I want to try to stuff that in my pocket or hold it in one hand or make a phone call with it.

I so hope that Apple, while catering to the hopefully temporary "give me a giant phone" insanity out there offers us an alternative top of the line model the size of a 4S or 5S.

It's maybe 1 cm longer and maybe 1.5-2cm wider. She'll be right buddy! You're gonna love it. I'd go so far to say that you will be foaming at the lips when this thing comes out. Unless you're a dude, in which case I'll say you'll be foaming from the mouth. Either way, this phone is going to change the world and your pocket. Just you wait....

Everyone crying about how big it looks just take a deep breathe and realize its just the camera angle as others have mentioned. Look how big her right thumb is compared to the left.

Those who say 4.7" isnt one hand usable have never used a 4.7" phone.

What I find is odd, is the other news story about the engineers worried about android, with their price points and selection and we start hearing about premium prices for this larger phone. Its contradictory in a sense.

I will say apple typically does it right with design, they have the best designers out there and while I'm rocking with my Lumia Icon right now, I now, as God made little green apples, I'll be wanting one :p

That's what i was thinking, but I'm sure Jony Ive will convince us otherwise.

Well it looks like another incredibly dull upgrade.

I was hoping for something interesting and innovative this time, like a bezel-free screen.

A larger phone is of no interest to me, I'd prefer them to go smaller if anything. :(

I shouldn't be surprised though, Apple very occasionally come up with something brilliant, but then tend to milk the same design, year after year.

Apple - "Think... the same as last year."

Well, I never really wanted a bigger phone, but the more I think about it, the more I'm convinced Apple will do it... but it will make sense because it will come in the same time of the iWatch thing.

And then, they could say that we can do all the major "phone" features with the iWatch (Siri, accept call, notifications, etc...) with the big iPhone that stays in our pocket. And then when we do use the big iPhone, we can use it with both hands.

I don't know how it would work, but that could be one of the argument they would use.

My 2 ¢

The rumor came from someone who doesn't have a great track record as far as Apple predictions go. It's also possible that IF Apple is also working on a 5.5" device the $100 price increase is for that product.

am I the only one who really hates this? It's way too big than I anticipated and it still has the massive bezels. The earlier leeks with iPad Air like design were way more nicer and neat compared to this as this is pretty much the same design as iPhone 5S but it stretched even more. Is that where we are heading now? 4/4S -> stretched to 5/5S -> stretched to 6/6S?
I hope these are not legit as otherwise I will be very disappointed and might get 5S instead. And I have iPhone 4 and was so excited for 6 but these are just huge :(

I was thinking the same but more along the lines that it's clear that a lot of people will require anti-depressant medication when it will be made official that 4" are no longer :D
