Wood Barrels

I like street photography but I always feel highly unproductive when going out and shooting. I'll usually walk around and maybe take two or three shots because I'm not seeing anything I really want to capture. Sometime I do see something though and manage to get a photo I like.

Very nice! I just grabbed a D5100 as well! How do you like it so far? I am also a complete beginner and am finding the kit 18-55mm to be a bit wide for some of the things I want to shoot. Thoughts?

i love it!!... so far the lens does me well, can't really say that it's wide for me. again this is my first dslr.

^^^ I don't get the feeling, through the image, of why you chose this particular composition, and pressed the shutter...

Thanks. I was originally thinking I wanted to get the bridge as well as the purples and blues in the sky. What would you have done differently?

Just got a used D700, good deal can't pass. Taken with 85mm 1.8d.
like the camera so far.

I don't know, maybe an option would have been to shoot through the bridge/tunnel if there was something interesting on the other side and get more of the sky and less of the weeds. you could have metered off of the sky and gotten the bridge more in silhouette??

I tried taking that picture but there wasn't much of a view through the bridge that caught the sky. But either way, I appreciate the input. It always helps.
