The guy who was trying to feed this beautiful Sandhill Crane got too greedy and one of them bit him! There was bloodshed!

Some guy who decided to do a "stop and chat" was bragging to me about his 800 and 1400mm lens that he had on him  along with some other Leica lens that blows the ones he has out of the water.
There I was with my crappy 300mm f4 and silly tripod feeling so small. He was telling me to get all this gear that I would gladly purchase if I had roughly 30k to blow but sadly I'm extremely poor and took me years to save for my little 300mm.

I've been swept away by a busy period, but I'm glad I had a peep at PotD just now. The light in this photo is wonderful! The spotlit sailboat against the dark cliff behind it is really perfect. A luckier moment might have had the sailboat pointing in the opposite direction (into the frame), but it works beautifully as it is. Really well seen, TheReef!

Thank you! Yeah I'm with you on that, it would've been ideal.

Ran out of pics? Maybe you should start posting the 'bad' ones, I'm sure they're still great ;)

Powerful shot, well captured pdxflint.

Do you know what instrument this is? Clicking on the picture will give you the answer, but I was wondering if you knew without cheating. :)

G'day, please remember when quoting images to change the tags to [img] tags, it keeps the mods happy :)
Cheers :)

Early morning near West Palm Beach, FL. Minor Lightroom work, primarily to lighten the foreground.

Exhausted after a run.

Both of these are very nice. I like the tonal range and overall mood of the seascape a lot. And the nifty-fifty was the perfect lens for your pooch shot. Very cute pup, and well executed shot.

I really like the sense of motion in the crowd, and the look of the shot. I've got a bunch of old negs I've never scanned, and this may be the spark I need to go pull them out and see what's there... Illford made a black and white film that was C-41 color process, just like normal color film, the only one that I know of. I used it occasionally, but still preferred silver-based film.

Awesome lighting.

Yet another fan of this here, great shot.

I love those rays of light...awesome shot :)

Thanks all of you, br0nc080, Reef, Jason, Gold89 and Rowbear. I really appreciate the nice comments. :)

This is stunning! Very well lit, and full of detail. Nice one!

Wow, what an opening... I'd bet a reasonable sized salmon would fit right down the hatch on this guy... ;) I actually saw a gull swallow a large chicken wing, and it distorted the shape of his neck for a few minutes until it worked it's way down. These birds are incredible garbage cleanup masters, and among the most pure flyers.

This place truly fascinated me, and I absolutely loved my time there. The people, the culture, the music, the overall atmosphere was just something incredible.

Havana, Cuba

Interesting titbit for any Michael Moore fans: the large grey building on the right of the image is the hospital he took the 9/11 rescue workers to in his movie Sicko.

As several others have pointed out, this is a very nice shot. Your recent B&W racing shots have been wonderful as well.

Here is my shot for the day. It's another film throwback I took years ago in Hawaii. Long exposure. Didn't have a tripod on the trip, so I rested my N90s on a rock and shot with a time delay. Ghetto tripod? This was shot on color print film and scanned from the negative. At the time I was hoping for something "dreamy" but was pleasantly surprised by how the film captured the colors of the scene.

My first experience of using a studio and studio lighting, a lot of fun, although I was way out of my depth I still think the shots came out pretty cool, if a bit bland. Would love some feedback from Jason Beck.
